Many say that a cat always lands on its feet, which is a blessing for them who frequently find themselves in locations they could not escape from otherwise. Such were the circumstances of a particular little kitty who found herself sitting on top of a utility pole a good few feet away from any other structure.

It was entirely unclear how she got up there, being far too many feet above the ground, but the fact remains that she was irretrievably stuck. No one had noticed her plight. With her characteristic wide eyes, she watched the odd person pass below, not bothering in their ambling journey to simply look up.

There was no sense of alarm to her posture, despite the circumstances. She simply sat on a space that was just the perfect size for her little body, tails curled around herself comfortably. A breeze picked up and ruffled her fur but she merely narrowed her eyes as if it were just a minor inconvenience.

She took a deep breath. She let it out in a typical feline sort of sigh.

She was bored now. A slight twitch of one tail expressed her opinion that she was now becoming bothered with her choice of perch. Of course, her preference to glare accusingly at the passersby below suggested she'd rather think some other being was responsible for her plight, rather than as a consequence of her own actions. What else could one expect from a cat?

She'd had enough. Unlike her other feline kin, Kane entirely lacked a sense of self-preservation. She did not wish to be on this pole any longer, so she decided that she simply wouldn't be.

She jumped off.

There seemed to be some brief consideration for a landing target, as she had propelled herself toward a building, but the sheer distance made that estimation dubious at best. Nonetheless, by some miracle perhaps, she did make it to the building before the ground came up to meet her.

Even the most observant folks, the most astute theorists, and the most avid of religious folk had to wonder how the small kitty had managed to aim so perfectly as to sail right through a narrow window into an apartment bathroom. Soundlessly (surprisingly), she landed with feline perfection on all four paws right in the bathtub.

You might say, perhaps, "well, obviously this isn't a normal cat!" and usually, you would be right. However, if you mean to say that Kane's defiance of the laws of physics was simply because she "isn't a normal cat," then you would most certainly be wrong.

Kane was indeed not a "normal" cat, as she was one who not only sensed spirits of the dead, but also consumed them. Nothing about her abnormal attributes gave her the ability to land safely after a supposedly impossible leap. It was almost unfortunate that no one had witnessed it, for it would surely be a moment of great significance for the scientific community.

Just as she began to observe her surroundings, a small girl burst into the bathroom. It seemed to, quite understandably, startle her to see a strange cat in her bathroom. In an apartment. On the fourth floor.

For a moment the little girl and the cat just stared at each other. The spell broke only when the cat blinked, unbothered by the whole situation. The girl glanced around the room and behind her, as though looking for an explanation for the cat's appearance. Or perhaps she was simply trying to figure out what to do next.
