Gnoll

The Chombones padded down the path that lead to the Guardian City. He stopped to rest momentarly, sitting down on the side of the road. He looked up at the large walls that surrounded the city. A slight gasp escaped his gapping mouth. His head moved up as his eyes scanned higher and higher to the top. But his head went so far back that unbalanced his self and sent him toppling backwards. He layed there looked down the path in the direction he had come from, enjoying the chance to lie down.

Freda flapped lazily as she surveyed the city below.
Lamenolai was one of her favourite places to fly over, the stone walls has always facinated her.
Spiraling down gently, she sighed contently.
What a great day to be out flying, she thought to herself, smiling.
Something-someone-was at the gates.
Curious she swooped down to greet the creature.

"Sir?" Freda asked, concerned, "Would you like some help?"

Gnoll looked "down" to her as the Sygriff fluttered down. He attempt to smile, but since he didn't have any lips, was already smiling. "No Madam, I'm fine." He replied. It was weird, but the Chombones were only able to communicat by making grinding noises with their teeth, yet Gnoll was able to speak like a normal person.
He picked himself back onto his feet and brushed himself off. He turned back to her and nodded since he could "truely" smile. "So, what brings you here?" He asked, sitting down once again.

Relieved that the Chombones was okay, she cocked her head and took a closer look at him.
"This place," Freda said, motioning, "is where I work as a dancer."
Twirling, she started a routine she was working on just this morning. It was complicated, and she was skeptical about performing it tonight.
She had flown into the air, and now she decended gracefully and with a big sweeping motion, landed infront of Gnoll and bowed.

Gnoll stopped his front paws ontot he grown, as if applauding. "That was very good!" he shouted. The excellent performance gave him a boost of energy and he stood up. He tried to smile again, and did a twirl. "You'll do FINE tonight!" He stated, sitting down again.

Freda smilied, dazzled by the compliment.
"Thanks," she said greatfully.
Turning back towards the centre of the city, she said, winking, "I'll treat you to lunch."
"My name's Freda by the way," she continued, peering at the Chonbones expectantly.

He stood up and walked after her. "I'd be happy to accompany you. And my name is Gnoll." He said, keeping a steady pace. He looked at the stone wall again. "Why do you think they need the wall?" He randomly asked.

"Well Gnoll," she said, glancing at the tall walls around them, "Since this place is truely full of wonder, certain measures of protection would be needed."
Weaving through the milling crowd of afternoon shoppers with ease, she glanced back every few steps to make sure Gnoll was still right behind her.
Stopping outside a store, she announced, "Here we are!"
Striding in she said, "Here, they make the BEST pizza."
Humming contently to herself, she waited for a waiter to come and serve.

Gnoll looked around at all the strange sights and different people. This was his first time in a big city, and it was a little intimidating. He sat down as they waited and listened to the gossip. But none of it made any sense to him so he just watched. The sun was glowing gold onto the city and the windows lite up by the morning raise. Gnoll sat there silently then turned to Freda. "Whats Pizza?" He asked. Now that he thought about it, he never heard of such thing.

Freda stared at Gnoll, eyes wide.
"You.. you... you've never heard of pizza?" she said, almost in horror.
Shaking her head, she said "Well, it's like bread with tomato sauce and cheese on it. There are many different toppings on top of the cheese and tomato too."
She closed her eyes and continued, "There's seafood, pepperoni, sausage, hawaiian, which is pinapple and ham, vegi, chicken... oh, there's too much variety for me to list them all!"
Turning to the waitress as she walked up to their table, she said, "We'll have a Deluxe Super Supreme Pizza!"
Looking back at Gnoll, Freda said, handing him a menu from the waitress, "If it's fine with you of course."

He sat down and looked to Freda. "No, no, it's fine. It's my first time trying it, so the toppings don't matter." He answered, looking at the menu. He stared at it for a few secounds then looked to Freda again. "Whats this?" He asked, pointing to the menu.

Freda nodded to the waitress, indicating they would take the pizza.
Glancing at Gnoll uncertainly, she said, "That's a menu..."
Suddenly changing into her big sister mood, she said, "See all those pictures? Those are foods they sell at this restaurant."
As she explained, the waitress came back with their meal.
"Thanks!" she said gleefully as she watched her lay the big pizza on the table.
Grabbing some Keystones, she payed for the meal and grabed a slice of pizza.
"Dig in!"

Gnoll look at it for a moment, the different smells fillin his nose. It made him drool slightly, and he started to notice how hungry he was. Slowly picking up a slice, he eyed is sheepishly. Then look a small bite, the cheese stretching from the pizza to his mouth. His mind raced as the different flavors hit his taste buds, and the melting cheese filled his mouth. Oh, he hadn't had anyhting like this before, or did he? His mind started to get fuzzy, and black and white pictures started to fill his mind. But just as they were going to clear up, his head started to throb. Or was it hi mouth? It was his mouth, he had bitten down on some pizza that was still hot. Yelping, he spat it out.

Freda herself was busily chomping through her slice of pizza.
She glanced at Gnoll to see how he was faring.
Seeing Gnoll spit out the pipping hot pizza, Freda quickly jumped up and grabbed a cup of coke from a waiter.
Handing him the cup, she fretted.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, dismayed, "I should have warned you...

Gnoll drank from the cup and cooled his mouth. He then looked to Freda and shook his head. "No, I could oviously tell by the steam ariseing from the pizza that it was hot. I merely wasn't paying attention and should have been." He replied. His words sounded wise and dream like.

He then took a couple of napkins and started to clean up the mess he had made with the bite of pizza. Once done he sat back down and started to eat again. He looked up to Freda and had a worried look on his face. "I do believe I am a victum of amnesia." He said in a frightened tone.
