Home to a variety of cultural backgrounds, Lamenolai is a citadel city with stone walls that encompass the whole city and stone 'guardians.' It is also home to the Headquarters of the Purines, an opposing organization to the Imperialists of Lambastia. (+2 Defense, +2 Fame)

Speculation wasn't getting her anywhere. She had to find her superior. He would know what to do about this. Nodding to herself, she pushed off the side of the building and drifted off into the night in search of her mentor.

"Ah," was all he said when she finished explaining the situation to him. The younger reaper stared at her feet, feeling inexplicably guilty about the whole thing. It shouldn't have been her fault--- she had just been doing her job--- and yet she couldn't quite bring herself to look up and meet her superior's gaze. His silence didn't help; the longer he stayed quiet, the worse she felt.

She was just about to open her mouth and blurt something when he said, "Well, it's a bit unusual, but I think I've heard of a similar case before." Opening his Tome, he flipped through the pages. The younger reaper had to bite her lip to repress the urge to peer over his shoulder. Her own Tome only showed her an assignment if there was one to be had and the the records of each soul she had escorted, but the Tomes of older, more advanced reapers purportedly held other things. She could only wonder at what her superior was looking at now.

She knew when he had found it by the gentle smile that broke across his face. "Ah," he said, "it's as I'd thought. Yes, it's a little unusual, but not unheard of. When a human has too many near-death experiences in quick succession, they begin to become more spiritually sensitive."

"... So he can see all of us now?" The younger reaper frowned. That didn't bode well. Reapers operated on discretion and secrecy. Usually there wasn't any need for concealment, but if someone was able to see them, then---

She felt a hand on her shoulder, and looked up to see her mentor shaking his head. "There's no need to worry. One human here and there with the ability to see us has never caused us much trouble. The rest are disinclined to believe them, and in cases like this, the sensitivity fades after a while."
