A very skinny man in a blue robe walks up to a small table surrounded by a nice sofa that has a hole on one of the arm rests, it looks like it could sit two or three people, depending on how large they were. Around the table were also two small armchairs and a folding chair. One of the armchairs seemed to have been used often, as the seat part was extremely indented in the shape of someone's buttox. The table which was surrounded by these chairs was ovular and was made of wood that had seen better days. Actually, the rest of the house was like this as well, just really unkempt and just plain dirty. There seemed to be an attempt at cleaning, but it was short lived as the filth seemed to grow exponentially. The house was simple in the fact that it was really just two rooms, one was the room that the man was standing in, and another beyond a closed door. This main room seemed to be furnished with a small kitchen behind the sofa, though it was just as bad as the rest of the house.

The man went to the cupboard next to the fridge in the kitchen, and pulled out a few bags of chips and other snacks. He laid them out on the table, then went over to a desk and opened one of the drawers. He pulled out a manila folder and a large board that was folded in half. He placed the folder in the seat of the heavily used armchair and set the board down, unfolding it as he did so. The board was very simple in that it only had three circles on it, with lines connecting the circles so that all were connected. The board looked like it had been erased multiple times as there were many smudge marks on it, and it looked like the top was made of the same material that eraser boards were made of.

The man got back up, his robe momentarily getting caught on his shoe, and he stumbled for a second before recovering. He went back to the same drawer and pulled out a small box which rattled inside with what sounded like dice. He then stepped to the armchair and then placed the box in front of it on the table. He opened the box which revealed dice and some miscellaneous figurines, instead of taking them out, he opted to leave them where they were and he instead put the folder next to the box and then took a seat, waiting for others that were coming soon.

Ava held a printout of a mysterious email in her hand. She stood on the rickety stairs that led to the strange-looking house that the directions had led her to. It was all the way across town from her little apartment, but at least the bus route was nearby. The email had been interesting, and Ava hadn't minded signing up, since it was just another online thing. But now that Ava was actually there, she was beginning to get second doubts. What if this was like a horror film? Quickly dismissing the thought at once, Ava knocked on the door twice. The paper twisted in her hands as she waited for the door to open, her heart beating fast with trepidation.

Dukhaan blinked at the fairly modest house, admittedly a little bit relieved that it wasn't some big important deal. The way the e-mail made it sound, this was going to be some kind of mansion. But no, it was just some simple--and kinda grungy looking--old house, and Dukhaan almost smiled to himself as he stepped up to the porch. He blinked as he caught sight of a girl. Right... maybe he wasn't the only one who had been sent that e-mail. Well, there went his ego. Dukhaan cleared his throat slightly to signal to the girl that he was walking up the stairs to join her at the door, figuring she'd already knocked, and waited to be let inside as well.

Okay, he'd admit it.  After he'd replied to that email about a game of sorts, Mattias didn't hold much stock in the idea that something would actually come from it.  So he was surprised when he'd received another email with directions to a location to come to.  It was all intriguing enough for him to follow through with what had been started and show up at this rather odd place.

Even more to his surprise, it seemed he wasn't the only one who had been reached about this game.  As he approached the steps, he noticed two more individuals waiting on the porch.  One was even a girl.  He couldn't say he knew many girls who liked things like this but hey, he couldn't judge.  It wasn't like he usually did these things either.  He took one last puff of his lit cigarette before flicking it off to the side, continuing up the stairs towards the others.  Mattias nodded to each of them with a small, half smile before straightening his jacket and leaning against the unstable railing along the porch.  

He scratched his thin beard awkwardly, debating on whether or not he should follow the notes intructions and knock three times.  But, that'd be silly, what with two others already here.  Surely they already knocked, right?

[Remedy]

Admittedly, Aeron felt more than a little uncomfortable as he approached the home of the address he'd been given.  Though he was normally a very realistic, level headed person, the thought of this being some creepy internet-scam or stalker type thing was itching at the back of his mind.  To be safe, he'd left explicit instructions with his brother to come looking for him should he not text within thirty-five minutes of his arrival.  Even so, it did little to calm his fears.

As he neared the porch, he saw three individuals waiting before him.  It was rather surprising, since he honestly hadn't expected to show up around the same time as everyone else.  Seeing that a crowd would be going in with him, he felt slightly more secure.  However, he also recognized that each person was still a stranger to him...  It was, perhaps, the "riskiest" endeavor he'd attempted to date, and it was beginning to feel rather exciting.

The man was starting to fall asleep when he heard a knock at the door. He jumped up out of his chair, spilling one of the bags of chips that was close to his leg. The chips went everywhere and he rushed to clean it up. He yelled, "just a second!" And then continued to pick up the chips and throw them into a trash can. After everything was cleaned up, he wiped down his robe of the crumbs and parted his hair a little to make him seem more presentable. He cleared his throat and walked towards the door.

He took in a deep breath and reached for the door handle. He breathed out and slowly opened the door to give a creepy vibe. He poked his head out the door to see three people on his door step, and one behind them, obviously in the group. "Welcome," he said as best as he could, trying to make an ominous atmosphere with his high pitched voice. "I see you have all made it safely, now if you could, join me in the main room." He completely opened the door to reveal the house. He then walked towards the table and stood in front of his seat, facing the table. "Please, take a seat, and I will go over the rules again. By the way, my name is..." He paused, not wanting to reveal his identity to these people. "Gamemaster, just call me Gamemaster or just Master if you want." He chuckled to himself before sitting down. He then opened the folder and pulled out four pieces of paper, face down and in four spots around the table, indicating where they should sit. "Don't pick those up just yet, I want to explain everything first. Oh, here are some game pieces for you to use." He turned the box towards the others, indicating that they should select on of the many miscellaneous figures and board pieces from many classical board games.

Ava jumped as another person joined her on the steps. Admittedly, ava was a little nervous. Having another person there was a good thing, but he didn't look super friendly. Giving the boy a small "Hello," Ava looked back at th doorway, shifting back and forth on her feet. Before Ava attempted to try and small talk, another person appeared on the porch. It looked like Ava was going to be the only girl, huh...

The door opened, startling the girl, and Ava stared at their host as he ushered them all inside. He was... different, Ava decided, making her way through the house to take a seat by the table. Ava gave a small smile, leaning forward to select her piece. "Um, my name's Ava."

Dukhaan's initial reaction to the person at the door had been less than impressive. It sort of smelled funny inside the house, not that Dukhaan was about to complain, considering his own house was pretty far from pristine despite how many chores he and Esfir completed. His eyes slid over the table as he walked in with hands in his pockets, chewing idly on the thin chain of the dogtags around his neck, and he paused as he peered at a bag of chips. Trying not to appear too eager for food, Dukhaan sauntered over to one of the chairs and sank down in it, reaching casually for a bag of chips and popping it open. "Oh, names? Ehh... Dukhaan. Don't try to make up any nicknames," he quickly added, frowning slightly as he ate a chip. He was about sick and tired of Esfir's recent development of calling him 'Duck' for fun.

Mattias raised a brow curiously at the man as he'd opened the door slowly before casually following the previous two others inside.  He gave the room a quick glance over before taking the nearest available seat, immediately slouching over the table top.  He wasn't sure what he'd expected the place to look like but it certainly wasn't anything grand.  At least it didn't make him feel out of place, hence the comfortable posture he'd taken; despite the weird smells and small corridors, it was actually quite roomy enough for the man.

His eyes trailed from the Gamemaster, to the girl known as Ava, then to Dukhaan as they introduced themselves.  Him next, he figured, as he raised a brow at the game pieces being offered towards them.  With his hand quickly rummaging through the tiny pieces, he cleared his throat:  "Oh, uh, my name's Mattias.  Or you can call me Matt, I don't care.  Whichever you all prefer."  He pulled his hand back to look at what he selected before laying it beside the paper in front of him.

When the door opened, Aeron wasn't quite expecting to see the figure that greeted them... yet at the same time, it was exactly as he expected.  In his gaming experience, he'd met many strange and awkward individuals, much like the man at the door.  He couldn't judge, though; he was basically the same type of person in social settings.  When the group was ushered inside, he made sure to keep his distance from the others as they squeezed through the door.  He'd had plenty of awkward experiences in the past when he was in a rush to do something, so he had to continually remind himself to "chill," as Bex always told him.

He looked around the room once he crossed the threshold.  It was about the same as one might expect when looking at the exterior of the building; nothing fancy, strangely scented, slightly dingy.  Not that Aeron was complaining; his apartment that he shared with his brother was hardly neat and tidy.  Taking a seat, he listened attentively to their Gamemaster and the other players, careful not to miss any details - such as their names.  Though, as usual, once he heard a name it went in one ear and out the other, no matter how hard he tried to remember it.  It was one of many unfortunate peculiarities that hindered his social competence.  

When it appeared to be his turn to speak up, he cleared his throat and blushed as he always did when the attention was on him.  "Um... hi, I'm Aeron, and I'm a game-a-holic," he said in a rather dry, deadpan voice.  His humor wasn't always well received by everyone he met, but hopefully in this company that wouldn't prove to be an issue.

"Well I welcome all of you here. Now without further ado, lets get started." He reached over and flipped over each of pieces of paper to reveal a map of the area that they would play in. "Now I love this part," he said with his squeaky voice. He flipped a switch on the side of the board and a light appeared from underneath it. It illuminated the board like a computer screen to show a nicer version of the crude map in front of the players. The screen showed a flowing river with a waterwheel moving along with the current. A few birds flew out of a tree in the forest, and little programed people moved around in the towns and the streets connecting them. The small campsite showed some smoke flowing from camp fires and some activity was seen as people moved from tent to tent.



"You like it? I designed it myself. It's thin enough to be moved and it has two screens attached by a hinge that allows it to be folded up and stored easily. But that's not what we are here for tonight. Well, moving on." He cleared his throat and suddenly brought out a deep voice that no one would suspect would come from this scrawny and tiny man.

"My name is Commander Vrant, I am in command of this regiment stationed outside of the towns. Now I know that you guys are going to go and search for the Demon King. I wish I could just storm the town, but the King has his worries over what that would ensue. Well, moving along. I will assign each of you a place from where you will start at, once I give you a location head over there immediately! We cannot waste any time talking." The Gamemaster takes a four sided dice and rolls it four times, producing a 3, 2, 3, and 1. He then turns back to the group of players and clears his voice again, resuming the tone of Commander Vrant. "You, Dukhaan, you will be heading to Tirtius along with Mattias. Summer will be head over to Khal and Bex Dailey will go to Nabin. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask, though the more time you waste here the more time the Demon King has to recover and hide."

The Gamemaster cleared his throat and motioned to the players. "So, place your pieces on the town that the Commander mentioned, and then we will start the game. You will start out at the Central Courtyard for each town and you can either spend your first turn looking for information or moving to any of the other places. If you do not remember, the places are the Blacksmith, the Town Hall, A Back-ally Pub, an Inn,and the Stables. Each Blacksmith, Pub, and Inn in each town have different items so it may be worth your while to step in and see what you can buy. You can only buy one thing at a time, and if you want to buy another item you have to spend another turn buying it, but once an Item has been bought, it is basically gone and no one else can get it. If you decide to look for information, I will roll a perception check to see how well you do. But other than that, have fun!" He gave a wide smile and opened up his arms, allowing them to make their moves.

Dukhaan had straightened up in shock as the table was suddenly alive with holographic movement, not to mention the freaky voice coming out of the Gamemaster. "Woah, man," he exclaimed through a mouthful of chips, swallowing and reaching a hand out to poke at the hologram. "Shit's fancy..." He hadn't been expecting that. Dukhaan glanced over at Mattias; apparently they were getting yoked together. Well, Dukhaan could handle that, as long as this Mattias guy didn't slow him down. Or did better than him. Dukhaan wasn't sure he'd be able to deal with that. "Tirtius, huh..." he muttered, picking up his game piece and examining it for a moment before reaching over to place it on the appropriate spot on the map. "Alright... so... I just say where I wanna go?" he asked, scooting a little closer in his seat. "I'll go ahead and go take a look at that back-alley pub. Sounds like a good time."

Ava's eyes widened at the hologram, the electronic light reflecting in her dark eyes. "Oh my goodness, this is amazing." she breathed, looking down at her piece and then at the board. "Um... here we go." Clearing her throat, Ava straightened in her seat, then peered at the map. "Let's begin in the Town Hall of Khal."

As the game medium suddenly changed from paper based to a holographic image on the table, Mattias raised his brow in pleasant surprise.  "Impressive.", he commented with a slight smile.  He straightened up in his chair as he went to move his character piece onto the area known as Tirtius, giving a curious glance over at Dukhaan.  It seemed they got coralled to the same place ... bothersome.  While he was generally nice to others, Mattias was definitely competitive in nature and any information he got he wanted to keep for himself.

He waited until a couple others had made thier moves, paying close attention to where Dukhaan had went.  The pub, eh?  Blast ... that's where he wanted to start.  But his silly pride wouldn't allow him to trail after another, especially this early in the game.  Besides, perhaps he could find out more in another less likely place.  "Okay then, how about we start at the Inn." he said confidently.  Perhaps there was useful information there to be had, or atleast perhaps some useful items to be bought.

Wonderful, the game had begun - and rather impressively, too. He wasn't expecting anything more than a simple board and die, so the technologically advanced double-screened playing board was very admirable and well received. Aeron listened attentively to the Gamemaster's words, nodding and following along.

He patiently awaited his turn, and when it was, he spoke.  Being experienced in this sort of fantasy-gaming, Aeron knew the fun-factor of it all would increase as he took on the persona of his character.  And since his chosen character was based on his brother, Bex, that would make it all the more entertaining - if only as his own little inside joke.

"Well," he spoke up in his best mimicry of his brother's tone of voice, "Nabin, eh? Looking for a king, I should start at the Stables.  Follow the path of the wise men." He even made a crude attempt at his brother's humor, all for the sake of getting in to character.
