Something under Cargan's boot did not sound like mud, infact it sounded like something very fragile had been, well, crushed. From the sound it may have been an egg shell or just maybe fine glass? No, infact it was a now, very crushed snicky shell that had apprently been the prey of some poly or other small animal (at least you didn't kill a snicky). Maybe there would be other evidence of snickies in the area.

Cargan heard the crunch of something under his boot, though he hadn't realized what it was at first. He lifted his foot and saw the shell. "Rose, come look at this," he called out to the girl walking slightly ahead of him. "Maybe we can find some of that snicky goop around her somewhere," he added. He really hoped they were close to finding what they needed in this forest-like place. It was rather dark and damp and it was really wearing him out.

"Huh, hey, that's a snicky shell!  Let me see if it has anything inside it.  Sometimes the shells will have left over residue in them, and I'm hoping this one does."  Rose walked over to where Cargan was standing very calmly, or she at least tried to walk calmly.  She couldn't hide her excitement.  She really hoped that it would have what they needed in it, but she couldn't be sure.  As she reached Cargan, Rose bent down and examined the crushed snicky shell carefully.  She couldn't be sure, so Rose gently pushed her finger in and felt something gooey.  "This is it!  Now all we need is that scale and your friend should heal.  It may take a while for her to return to full health, she may not ever have all her strength, but she'll make it if we can figure out how to get the scale in time.  So do you have any ideas on how?"  She was almost jumping she was so happy.  Rose didn't know why she was, but she couldn't help it.

Cargan watched Rose as she collected the partially crushed snicky shell. He was so excited to have finally found what they needed from the snicky. He smiled happily. "Don't get too excited," Cargan said with a slight chuckle. The slynx-girl was really, really happy, even though she didn't even know Orpheus. "We can go back into the actual slums and ask around. I've heard rumor of a man that sells things that what we need," he said, though he didn't mention the guy sold them illegaly. He headed off toward the town, if that's what you called the slums. He pushed aside tree branches and leaves and stepped over tree roots that had adventured out of the ground. He glanced behind him to make sure Rose was coming.

"Ok, I'll follow you this time then.  I think that we had better speed it up a bit though."  Rose ran to catch up to Cargan.  Soon she was at the outskirts once again.  "I wonder if I'll have to see my mother again"  though Rose as they walked back into town.

Cargan walked beside Rose. He took long strides to speed up their progress. He turned down a side street, and then another one. After going on for some time it would have been likely that he was lost, but he knew exactly were they were. They had stopped in front of a run-down shack-like structure. There was no sign above the door, but Cargan was going to go in anyway. He lead his companion into the structure and blinked as his eyes grew accustomed to the dim lighting. After they had he looked around the room for Alias, the man that would hopefully have a battleheart scale. He saw the old man, sitting in the back corner with his head pulled up over his head, that was how Cargan had always seen him. "Wait here," he said to Rose. Then he went over and sat down in the chair across from him. They had a conversation in hushed tones. After some argueing and bargaining, the old man pulled something out of his cloak. It was wrapped in dark cloth to protect it. He handed it to cargan and Cargan slipped the man a fair amount of money. He nodded his head in thanks. Next he unwrapped the object to make sure it was what he wanted. He saw the glint of the scale and felt the roughness. He rewrapped it and walked over to Rose. "Let's get outta here," Cargan said. He didn't want to atract too much attention from the people around the bar.

Rose to saw the glistening from the scale and knew that they had found what they were looking for.  She also knew that her job here was done, and that he boss at the bar would be expecting her back very soon.  "Hey, Cargan,"  Rose asked, "do you still need me here?  You have all the ingredients, so it's your call.  If not, I'm going to head back to the bar.  My boss is going to be expecting me anyway." She was going to miss the kuhna, but didn't really want to have to see her mother again unless she had to.

"Um, will you help me mix it first?" he asked Rose. He didn't want to mess it up. If he messed it up, he might just kill Orpheus. They were out on the street and there weren't many others around. "Or could you remind me of what to do when I get back to the otheres," he added.

"Well, crud.  I suppose that I could come with you.  I don't really agree with my mom, but I think that if it means your friend will make it, it's worth it."  And with that, Rose started walking toward her old home, hesitantly but with determination.  Her mother and her didn't always agree, but she wasn't going to let that stop her.  As they neared closer, though, she began to wonder what she was going to do when she saw her...


(I feel really bad about how short my posts are, I just kinda get like this near the end of an rp.  Or I think this is the end?)

Cargan nodded. "Thanks," he said. He walked beside Rose as they headed toward the old inn. He was going to see his siter again, and revive his friend, Orpheus. He just hoped that they weren't too late.

Ceana lay on her bed with her eyes wide open. It had been at least a day since Cargan had left and she was worried for her brother. She hoped that he was safe from harm and that whoever this Rose character was, was taking good care of her brother. She rolled onto her side to watch Orpheus, who still lay on the bed beside her. The only way she could tell that her friend was alive was her shallow breathing.

Dorgan gave up his search for Cargan. He would find the one who owed him later, when he was more ready. He lad lost count of the days of his hunt, though it couldn't have been long. He let out one more roar before giving up and going back to his home. He would find the little rascal.

Soon Rose found herself at the one place that she wanted least to be at the time.  As she approached the door, she turned to Cargan with a worried look on her face.  "Hey, so do we have anything that we can use to make the antidote without having to go inside?  I'd really rather not go in there unless I have to."  As she waited for the answer, Rose got more and more anxious.  "Hey, so let me tell you how to make it.  First you take the sap and poor it into a bowl.  Then take the snicky decay and mix it in with the sap.  Finally take the battleheart scale and find some way to crush it.  Once that's mixed all together, give it to your friend.  It's gonna be bitter but you have to get it into her.  Got that?"  As Rose said that, she figured that it would probably be better to just go with him and make sure that Cargan got it right.


(Yeah, I would like it to end when Orpheus is revived and everyone is leaving.  Probably in about in my next post or two?  Sound good?)

Cargan nodded. He thought he caught all of what Rose had said. "I think I got it, but what's wrong with going in there?" Cargan said, a little confused. He didn't want to force Rose to do something she didn't want to do, so he searched through the pack that was on his back. He had forgotten it was there. He pulled from his pack a hammer. He continued to rummage through his pack, but couldn't find aa bowl or something to stir the stuff with. He turned to Rose. "That's all I got," he mumbled. "Could you right that down?" he asked as an after thought, refering to the instructions to the antidote. He with drew from his pack a pencil and paper. He always had the most useless things in his bag.

"Well, ok.  Look, I don't agree with my mom at all, that's actually the reason I left home in the first place.  I didn't really want to have to go in, but I guess I will.  Anyway, let's go."  Rose walked up the steps to her old house and pushed open the door.  She knew her mom wouldn't lock the door until it was late, so she walked into the kitchen and opened the door to one of the few cabinets.  Rose tool out a bowl and looked around for anything to mix with when...


(Hey, will you have Ruby walk in suddenly and the two meet?  Am I allowed to do this?)

"Errr, okay," Cargan said. He followed Rose into the small inn where his sister and friend were staying. After they reached the kitchen he searched through the cabinets for a cutting board to smash the scale on. He found a nice wooden one and placed it on the counter. He took the scale and placed it on the board. Using the hammer he began to pound away at the scale. It splintered and cracked, but he continued to hammer it.

Ruby had heard the pounding coming from the kitchen and the rummaging through her cabinets. She bustled down the steps and grabbed her shotgun from off the mantle as she rushed by. She had been tending to Orpheus and the sky had been growing dark. She feared robbers.

The kitchen door flew open and Cargan stopped what he was doing. With the hammer still raised he looked toward the door, where a red-faced Ruby stood. He realized there mistake then. They had frieghtened the woman.

Ruby was relived to find that it was only Cargan in the kitchen. "Cargan, honey," she said as she rushed to greet him. She grabbed him up in a motherly hug and then held him at arms lenght. "You look terrible," she said. Cargan gave an embarrased smile. Just then Ruby caught sight of her daughter. She released Cargan and he stepped out of the way. "What are you doing here dear?" she asked, bewildered. Her daughter hadn't been here in ages. She half missed her daughter, but wasn't sure how her daughter would have reacted if she swooped in and gave her a great big hug of welcome.

Rose whirled around right as her mother began to talk.  She had already gotten all the bowls and utensils that she would need to finish the antidote, and she wanted to avoid to much talking, especially with her mother.  "Hello mom.  I'm here with Cargan.  He tells me that his friend needed an antidote that I make, and we came here to finish it and administer it to her."  With that, she turned around and began mixing everything together.  It smelled so bitter, but if she had done it correctly, which she had, it would heal the girl.  "Mom, where is the girl?  She needs to be given this immediately."
