Cargan watched the exchange between mother and daughter. It could have gone better, he decided. But it wasn't his business to intervene. He added the crushed battleheart scale to the concoction Rose was making.

Ruby smiled at her daughter. It was so nice to see here again. "She's upstairs honey," she said warmly. "I'll show you to the room." She left the kitchen, expecting the others to follow.

Cargan glanced at Rose before he followed Ruby up the creaky, old steps. Before they even reached the room a tired, but happy, Ceana came rushing out to greet them. "I thought I heard someone," she said. She rushed to her brother and enveloped him in a hug. Cargan hugged her back. "It's good to see you too," he said with a chuckle. He released his sister and looked to see if Rose was following before he followed Ruby into the room Orpheus was it.

As Rose followed her mother up the stairs and into the room where the girl lay, she saw that she would need to hurry.  Her breathing was shallow, and it looked as if she wouldn't be able to hold on much longer.  Rose went over to the bed and knelt beside her.  "Hey there.  Can I get you to open your mouth?"  she knew that the girl wasn't going to, so she took the bowl and put it to her lips and helped the kuhna drink it.  The girl shuttered for a second, as if reacting to the bitter taste, and then sat straight up.  "What the heck is that taste!  I've tasted so many things, and yet that just topped them all."  Orpheus was now up, and although she was still missing a lot of her strength, she still had enough in her to protest.  Suddenly, her senses started to kick in, and she realized that she wasn't feeling the poison anymore.  As she looked to her right, she saw a plush slynx.  "That must be the doctor."  she thought jokingly.  "Hey, thanks for helping me.  I don't know how much longer I could have held on."  Orpheus lay in the bed for a few minutes longer, and got up.  "So Ruby, Cargan, Ceanna.  I'm gonna really miss you, but I have to get going.  And that gives me an idea.  Do you live here in the slums, uh,"  Orpheus realized that she didn't know the slynx's name.  "Rose" she said.  "Oh, ok,  Well if you only live here, how about you come back with me?"

Ruby said a hurried good-bye to her daughter. It was embarassing to be in the same room with her daughter, whom she hadn't seen in years.

Cargan and Ceana were glad to see that their friend was alive. "We'll miss you as well" Ceana said before Cargan could get a word in. "I hope you have a great recovery!" She went forward to give her new friend a hug. She hoped Orpheus wouldn't mind. She also gave Rose a hug. "Thank you," she said before she released them. Cargan watched as Ceana gave her good-byes. "Bye," he said quietly. It was sad that his friends had to go.

"Bye.  I'll miss you guys, and I hope we can do this again, but without some of the injuries."  Orpheus didn't want to leave, but she had just gotten something from Arya saying that a lot of new pets were showing up at the falls and that she needed help to settle them in.  "Well, here comes yet another one then."  Orpheus thought to herself as she and Rose said their goodbyes.  But before they got out the door, Rose hesitantly turned around and went up to Ruby.  "Good-bye mom." and hugged her awkwardly for a second or two, and then rushed out the door and headed toward her new home.
