The slums are a rundown, old heap of a town tucked deep in the jungles, with townsfolk consisting mostly of poachers, black marketeers, thieves, and fugitives. While the ideal tourist spot, some travel to the Slums to make use of the black markets. (+2 Defense, +2 Speed)

I'm No Robin Hood [Self][HUNT]

Flint Exubrea, Human, Male

"Extra!  Extra!  Read all about it!" a commoner yelled out, waving about a local newspaper. "The Robin Hood strikes again!"  But suddenly a figure behind him jumped right on top of the small boy, and a dragged him back into an alley.  "Now you listen, I'm no Robin Hood.  And I'm sure as hell not a man..." a shadowy figure whispered meanecingly.  "And if you don't stop spreading the word about me, you'll see your whole world collapse around you.  Your friends, your family, everything you hold dear will disappear."  And with that, the character slowly backed up, then, with a running start, hurtled over the chain-link fence, and disappeared into the black night.

Flint shook his head, and looked around, trying to spot the crazy who had dragged him to the alley in the first place.  But all he got was a fleeting glance, of, wait, a girl?  He slowly stood up, trying to figure out what she meant.  'I'm no Robin Hood...'  But, but did that mean he had just encountered the famed thief that everyone in the Slums was talking about?

H- No, she had recently appeared, and started robbing from the rich, just like that old fairytale character Robin Hood, but it seemed that she didn't give to the poor.  Instead, she gave to other thieves like herself.  At least that was what the reports had said.  But the one other thing that was interesting about her was that anyone who was advertising or reporting on her was found dead soon after.  And that was the reason Flint was shaking, trying to think over all that had just happened to him.  Because if that was indeed the famed robber, he'd have to get out of this place.  And fast.

No, he didn't earn much, but it supported him and his family.  A dying mother, and father on parole, and five siblings who were all younger, it was a pain in the ass.  But to him, family was family.  And he wasn't about to risk them for a job.

Alimi, Female, Myuu Reaper   ~   Quinlan, Female, Palowokee

Meanwhile, 'Robin Hood', as the press had labeled her, sped away from the previous scene.  Sure, it was a bit brutal, but it was what she had to do.  If anyone caught onto her 'game', it would all be over.  And with a bunch of police everywhere, her job was nothing but harder.  And it was all because of the writers and reporters who spread the word about her.

Sure, it gave her a rush whenever she put on speed and fled from a scene, and when she broke into a shop and managed to get out.  But it wasn't just because she enjoyed that kind of a life.  It was because she had to do it.  She didn't have money, she didn't have family, excluding Alami, and didn't have anywhere to go.  All of those things put her in the position she was in.  Or at least that's what she said.

Finally she arrived at an old abandoned building.  The door still had the police tape on it, as well as the wood blockades and chains.  But that was simply to make sure others stayed out.  Hopping up, she stuck her foot into one of the missing brick spots, and hoisted herself up onto the windowsill, and swung into the main room.

"Alimi?" she called out quietly.  There was a slight movement, and a Myuu Reaper stepped out.  "Welcome back Quinlan."  She noticed her friends new bruises and scrapes, and questioned them.  "Oh, these new ones?  I just spotted a commoner trying to spread word about us, and did the usual threats..."  Quin trailed off.  She didn't enjoy having to kill people, no.  But it was what she had to do.  There wasn't any other choice.  She had tried to add people to her little group, but they double-crossed her, and almost got her jailed.

From then on, she felt there wasn't any other choice.  "Hey, anything to eat?" she asked the small feline.  "Nope, sorry..." Alimi said.  "One  of us needs to go and get a lot of supplies.  The market place is getting a lot busier with the holidays, and I don't think that we should be going out much then."  Quinlan nodded, and headed off to bed, leaving Alimi to do as she pleased.

The little feline shook her head, unsure of whether she should head out and leave Quin, or stay and make sure nothing happened.  But then again, what could a little thing like her possibly do?  Nothing much.  Sighing, she decided that going out and running the errands wouldn't make much of a difference.  Besides, the rest of the gang was due home soon, and they could certainly defend the HQ.  Assured by her own words, she grabbed a small bag, some money, and her skate board, then moved out.  She certainly was an odd sight, a human girl with feline ears and tails, a formal top, black jeans, and no shoes riding down on a skateboard.  But she didn't really worry, seeing as most of the other major threats around the Slums new her 'family', and didn't dare touch her.  Paps was known for his brute force, and the others, well, they got the idea, and stayed clear of them.  That was the advantage of being part of the biggest crime boss' family.

Finally, she arrived at a dingy little store, and hopped off the board, flipping it up into her hand.  Walking in, she instinctively put her hand on her bag, making sure that it wasn't in the reach of anyone else.  There was a rusted cart, and she grabbed it, and set off, grabbing everything she needed.  Within minutes, she managed to fill up the cart, and headed off to the register.  "374 Keystones?!" she hissed, glaring at the clerk.  "Y-y-yes Ms.Quell...  I-I-I'm sure..."  Shaking her head furiously, she handed over the bag, wondering how the hell people managed to get away with such horrible rip offs.

Snatching the bags away, she glared at the young woman, causing her to flinch.  Alami smiled, and set her board down.  With one last menacing glare, she got going.  It was almost dusk by the time she got back to the HQ, but there was no sign of Quin or the rest of the gang.  She shoved her board over by the couch in the corner, and headed off to the kitchen.  Everything was still in place, the boards still there, all the locks untouched.  Good, no one had even tried to get in.  One by one she put the items up, and stowed the bags in the closet.

But as she was passing by the back window, a sudden crack and rustling caught her attention.  Gasping, she stopped herself from alerting him, and backed up.  Once she was out and into the den, she rushed to Quin's room.  Shaking her, she kept repeating her friends name.  "Huh?" Quin muttered.  "What'ya want?"  "Someone's outside!" the little feline hissed.  Now that got the Palowockee human out and heading toward the door.

Quinlan almost knocked Alami over.  "Hey, wait!  Shouldn't we stop and try to see who it is at least?  What if it was paps or one of the gang?" "Now why would they be creeping around like that?  I have a hunch on who it is though..."  And with that, she ran off.  On the way, she grabbed on of her tranquilizer darts.  Might as well have some fun with it.

As she opened the door slowly, there was a sudden movement.  And yet, even though she hadn't planned on it, she immediately shot one of the darts.  There was a groan, and she heard a figure fall to the ground.  Oh gosh, oh gosh... she thought to herself.  This wasn't like her, acting in such a brash manner.  She carefully went over to where she thought she heard the sound, and just about tripped over them.  She shined the small flashlight she had brought along, and just about toppled over laughing when she saw who it was.

But just as she was leaning down, something hit her in the neck.  You gotta be kidding me! she thought angrily as she drifted off.

She found herself tied up to a chair, and two people circling her.  When she finally remembered what exactly had happened, she just about knocked the chair over in her anger.  "You to dolts!  Scrags!  Have you lost your minds?  It's me, Quin!"  Now that got her two 'captors' to stop and actually look at her.  The younger one mock slapped herself, and turned to the older man.  "I told you..." she said to him angirly.  "She shot me, you shot her, and then everything got out of hand, like always..."  "Wait, hold up!  Pandora?  Paps?"  Immediately the girl came over and cut the rope that was holding Quinlan to the chair.  Of course, that might not have been the smartest idea, seeing as the young human form Palowockee was extremely angered at the two.  "Why the hell were you creeping about like that in the middle of the night?  And why did you shoot me?  I mean, for Xai're's sake, you know how to get in through the back."  She shook her head, and sat back down in the chair.  "You two...  I can't even begin to explain how many things are wrong with this family...."

Mickey ~ Male ~ Saffron Fellox| Raka ~ Male ~ Carolwockee

"That's because no one can..." replied yet another voice.  Seriously, a few more people and they could start a party.  From out of the shadows stepped her cousin Mickey, smirking.  "You're back home early.  You only left a month ago from the new port at Sa'fir.  How could you have met the egg quota in such a short amount of time?" Pandora asked him, somewhat worried.  "How could I not meet it?  Baby cuz, you gotta realize that on those islands, there's eggs everywhere.  You can't walk very far without almost stepping on one.  I got the hundred and sped outta their as fast as I could.  No need to worry."  At that time, Alami came in, and just about jumped three feet in the air at the sight.  She shook her head, not sure what to say, except to Quinlan, an 'I told you so'.

So her hunch about it being the boy she had attacked the other night was wrong, so what?  Okay, well, maybe it had gotten a bit out of hand.  Getting up, she glared at her father, and stomped off after a somewhat grateful smile to her sister and cousin.

She lay on the bed, facing the ceiling.  How had things gotten out of hand so fast?  It seemed like only yesterday her mother had been there with the family, and they were all having a fun, normal day.  But then the next thing she knew, some kid came into the house late one night, drunk.  He picked up the gun that paps had hanging in the kitchen at their old place, and started firing all over the house.  Paps rushed out, trying to distract the kid while she, Pandora, and Mickey, who had been staying over with them at the time, were rushed outside by there mother.  But right as they all got out, the kid managed to shoot ma in the neck.  It sent paps into a blind rage, and that was started their criminal lives.

It seemed like everything her family did was done to the extremes, whether it was committing crimes, or helping others out.  They couldn't just settle somewhere in the middle.  Everything after that day had begun to spiral downhill, until Raka showed up.  He seemed to put the family back together.  Now they were one of the most feared gangs in the Slums.  And as soon as they had enough of the hatched eggs, they'd be able to expand to even bigger parts of the Lands.  Or, that was what paps continued to tell them all.  Quinlan didn't quite believe it, but she certainly had to give Raka his props.  He was the one who hatched and trained their Ttees that Mickey brought over from Zuh'ai knows where.  They were supposed to be pick pockets, but they weren't good for anything besides eating and sleeping.  But Raka insisted that he could train them over time, and here they all were now.

She couldn't have wished for a crazier family.

After quite a while, Quinlan returned to her room as the others began to look through the extra items Mickey had 'picked up' while collecting eggs.  She knew that this wasn't even close to the truth, but it didn't matter, it helped them get by while the crime season went down, so it was all good in the end.  Sighing, the Palowockee girl sat down on her bed and thought about all that had happened in the past weeks.  She'd started to notice a steady incline in the amount of people that were visiting the Slums, at least in her part of town, and a steady decline as well in the criminals.  Hardly any dared to show up, and the ones that did immediately withdrew without a fight.  Although the police forced might've thought this to be a blessing, Quinlan knew better.  This was like a depression for the bigger gangs such as her family's.  If there weren't even a few newbies out on the streets to mug, they wouldn't be able to get by as easily, and when the going got tough around there, people didn't go on and leave, they got up, and started aiming farther up the food chain.  The big gangs started fighting others like themselves, and soon you had an all-out war going on between them all.  And in the end, there'd just be a bunch of blood stains and a serious loss of balance in their society.  For them, the Slums was their home, and the criminals kept it in balance, not the citizens like in most other places.  And things got messy when they lost their balance, that was a fact.

Snickies usually infested the Slums. You could usually see the black-shelled varieties clinging to bits of trash, dumpsters and door frames, and if you were lucky you could sometimes spot the rare blue- or green-shelled varieties, usually only found near the oceans or jungle - respectively. However, in the 'thieves den' or so to speak, not one could be seen - neither inside nor outside. While most habited places did not usually house Snickies within their walls, there usually could be one or two seen trailing around the exterior walls.

Perhaps the residents were the intimidating type, or perhaps the building just has a presence that kept the little shelled creatures away.
Honestly who knew? The creatures usually kept to themselves and weren't usually the social type anyway.

A few yards away from the abandoned building stood the boy from before, his hands clinging to his hat as he struggled against the winds that had begun to pick up.  He knew the risks he was taking, but as long as they couldn't trace him back to his family, they could only hurt him.  And this was an opportunity that he couldn't pass up.  To get real evidence on the new 'Robin Hood' of the Slums.  That kind of stuff would do one of two things - or if you were just really unlucky, it'd do both- either you'd get big money for it, or you'd get a nice burial for it.  At least, as nice a burial as you can get around those parts.  Shaking those thoughts out of his head. he started toward the house again.  The wind was really picking up, and behind the boy could hear the rolling thunder.  Shit.  I gotta figure out what to do or I'm in deep water... he thought to himself.  He didn't have time to get back home, and there wasn't really any shelter around, not at that point.  Most of the shops, honest or not, had locked up for the storm as usual to protect their 'precious merchandise', and he doubted any of them would let him in, not without some kind of incentive.  And their ideas of 'incentives' were way out of his price range.  And that left a single place.  The supposed hideout of the famed Robin Hood.

Lost in his thought, they boy was jolted back into reality when an actual bolt of lightening hit only a few yards away from him, the mere shock throwing him back and down to the ground.  He felt his head bang against something, and a warm liquid began to trickle down his neck.  Not good, not good! he thought, trying to get up.  But already he had begun to feel light-headed, and within a few moments, the boy was completely unconscious.

Inside the dingy looking house, alarms had already begun to go off, and Quinlan was once again up after ten minutes of simply lying down and trying to go to sleep.  It seemed that the poor girl wouldn't be getting her sleep any time soon, at least, that was what it was like to her.  One by one, she turned off the alarms, and wondered why she was the only one doing this.  Normally, paps would've beaten her to everyone, and then gone about his business.  But no one was here, not even Alimi.  Something was definitely up, and she aimed to find out what.

Of course, she had to think about that choice again as she neared the window and saw how bad the weather was, but the minute she also caught sight of the whole group huddling around something, she grabbed an extra hoody, pulled it up and tied the hood, and raced outside.  Waiting to meet her there was Pandora, who had seen her come out.  "It's some kid, looks like he fell and banged his head on something.  He's been bleeding for a while, but it's starting to clot.  You think we should bring him inside?" she asked.  "Paps is the one in charge, why you askin' me?" Quin replied, uneasy.  "I'm asking you 'cause you're gonna be the one in charge some day.  This is your call, sis."

At that point, Quinlan froze, unable to even turn her head to see what exactly she was going to be bringing into the house.  Taking deep breaths in and out, she regained her composure, and managed to will her body to move again. "Bring it in.  Alimi, come on, we'll get the first aid stuff, and you can treat it."  Once she'd issued those orders, she turned on her heel, and headed back toward the house, hoping to get as far away as possible from that child they were rescuing.  Something wasn't right, Quin knew that.  People definitely didn't wander around their place, those who knew about them were scared of them, and those who didn't saw the place as a crime scene and knew to stay away from it.  So why was someone snooping around?

Re: I'm No Robin Hood {Self, RE2 Welcome}

As Raka, Mickey, and Paps brought the kid in, Alimi quickly ran throughout the house, gathering gauz, medical tape, alcohol, rags, some smelling salts, a bucket full of rain water, and a leather glove.  All of these she dropped off in front of Quin, then ran to see if the men needed any help getting the kid in.  She kicked open the door, and immediately started scolding them for handling him with such roughness.  "He's a kid for Zuh'ai's sake!  Can't you ruffians do any better than that?  If he dies, I want it to be because he was dumb enough to be snooping around during a storm, not because you three used him as a battering ram!" she hissed, ushering them over to the couch.  Quinlan and Pandora immediately moved the table in front of it, and set the supplies on top of that.  "Okay, Quin, hand me the alcohol.  We'll need to get him cleaned up, and we all know how damn dirty this dump is.  And I'm guessing he's been laying outside for a little while, so I don't even wanna know what could'a gotten into that wound by now."  The Palowockee did as intructed, taking one of the rags and dipping it in the solution.  Alimi took it from there, and gently rubbed it on and around the wound on the boy's head.  Sure, it wasn't the idea way to treat it, but it was all they really had.  Thankfully he was still unconcious, or the poor sap would've been screaming by that point.  However, when Alimi had finished cleaning the wound and had started to wring that rain water out over the wound, he winced, and they all stepped away.

"...where, where am I?" the boy asked, his eyes barely open.  He was hoarse, and couldn't really see much besides the faint, foggy outlines of four or five figures standing around him.  Nothing was really clear, other than the horrible stinging pain on the side of his head.  That was about all he could focus on.  "Ah man.  What'd I do?" he said, not really sure what had happened.  Then, he slowly started to remember.  The incident in the alley with that girl, following her to the abandoned building, and then... "Ah!" he screamed, realizing just where he was.  He tried to get up, but fell back down immediately. "Please, I'm so sorry, don't kill me!"

"Kill you?  Why the hell would we do something like that?  If we wanted you dead, we'd have left you outside in the storm to rot.  The fact that you're inside, and, now awake, means we didn't want you dead.  Now, shut up, turn on your side, and let Alimi treat your wound, unless you really do wanna die.  In which case, we'll just leave you here and keep going with our lives." Quinlan said, her back turned to the boy.  He stared at her increduously, shocked by her cold, cruel tone and what she had just said to him.  "Don't you think that was a little much, Quin?" Pandora asked. "No, I simply told him the truth." was her only reply.  "Well, Alimi.  He doesn't seem like he wants to die, so you'd better go ahead and wrap that wound up before something else gets into it again." "Huh?  Oh, yes,  You're right." the feline girl said, startled.  She grabbed the gauz, and slowly wrapped it around his hair line, slowly tightening it.  After several revolutions, she stopped, and tied a knot with the fabric. "There.  That should do for now.  Just don't make any sudden movements." Alimi said, obviously pleased with her work. "Oh, thanks.  I mean, well..." the boy said, unsure of what he was supposed to do in his current predicament.

Re: I'm No Robin Hood [Self][HUNT]

"Hmph."  Quinlan turned around, and stormed off to her room, ashamed that she hadn't been able to stop this kid from trailing her, angry that he was now in the house, then just downright moody.  In the other room, she could hear Mickey talking to him, calmly, trying to reassure him.  And there was only one reason he would ever act like that with anyone, family or not.  That was to get information.  One crucial step she'd forgotten to take.  If she had reevaluated the whole situation a minute or so before, she would've realized that there was no way he tailed her, she would've known without a doubt.  Mickey apparantly trusted in her abilities to avoid trailers and stay in the shadows, and assumed that this kid had somehow gotten their whereabouts some other way.  She made a mental note to thank him later on, and got up, less aggravated, and more curious, to say the least.

"So, kid, you want something to eat?" Mickey asked, a small, genuine smile on his face.  That was one of Mickey's best traits.  He was able to put on a true smile, even in the worst situations, and it was perfect.  It didn't matter whether he was dealing with a man or a woman, he could sway either to do whatever he said, whenever he said it, all with just the smile on his face and the charismatic way he spoke.  The boy shook his head, attempting a smile of his own.  Mickey smiled again, and pulled a chair up backwards and swung his legs over both sides, and rested his chin on the back of the chair.  "Any way, well, you know, we have to try and keep down low to stay on top, and that means we have to make sure we know everything that goes on.  And, having people randomly show up here, well, for one thing, that hasn't really ever happened up until this point, and for another point, you came here on purpose.  No sane person would try and trail my little cousin, especially not back to the nest.  Not to mention that she's a bit to good to be trailed.  So, how'd you get here?"

These new flocks are nothing but vultures

Because they took our love and they filled it up
Filled it up with Novocaine and now Im just numb
And don't mind me, Im just a son of a gun
So dont stop, dont stop until your heart goes numb
I dont feel a thing for you
