The slums are a rundown, old heap of a town tucked deep in the jungles, with townsfolk consisting mostly of poachers, black marketeers, thieves, and fugitives. While the ideal tourist spot, some travel to the Slums to make use of the black markets. (+2 Defense, +2 Speed)

It was a surprise to see Samael somewhat cooperating as the woman suggested that they bargain. In no way did she mean to strip Benjamin of his individuality, but she wanted no leech stuck to their backs. If she had to discuss this in order to get rid of Samael, then there was little she could do about that.

Benjamin had only just finished putting his whip away that he wanted to pull it out again. Samael's attitude was grating, and he was only making it worse. The fact he was even suggesting that they talk was pointless, since the demon had literally just told him that they couldn't break that deal between them. "Why are you even saying any of that?" the vampire snapped, legitimately wondering why Samael would humor those two vampires, knowing the situation. "It's not like I want to go with them, but if I can get rid of you, then I'll take it." That Nycteri vampire seemed pretty harmless from afar, especially considering his depressing attitude. He didn't seem like he wanted to be here, so if anything, Benjamin could relate to that.

"Even if I go, that stupid deal you forced me to make will still stand," Benjamin pointed out, and part of him hoped that those two vampires might, just might, have an idea what to do about it. Benjamin was young and didn't really know anything about demons, but maybe those two older, and more powerful, vampires knew more about them. "You know we're stuck together until you find a way to break it." He put the emphasis on "you", making it clear that this was all Samael's fault. If the demon had kept to himself, none of this would've happened.

Samael rolled his eyes at that, his expression morphing into one of disgust. "Quit being such a whiny brat." The demon hissed, his voice laced with toxic venom. Samael turned to look at Benjamin with an impassive stare, violet eyes glinting with danger. He was fed up with this. It wasn't fun anymore; now it was just a total pain. Especially with these new vampires breathing down his neck. Samael would rather die than actually capitulate to some third party meddlers. "I might as well kill you and save all of us the trouble of having to put up with your silly little tantrums."

"You're calling me whiny?" Benjamin retorted, and he scoffed at Samael's complete change in attitude. "Look who's talking!" The demon had been the one, moments ago, to complain and whine about the fact they would be stuck together; and now Samael was accusing Benjamin of whining? This demon was just pitiful, when it got down to it.

Benjamin snapped the whip again, and he, too, was ready to retaliate. "You won't kill me if I get to break you first," he hissed, and he held the whip tight in his hands.

The woman rolled her eyes at the two boys ahead in the alleyway, shaking her head briefly as she sighed. The two of them were like whiny, entitled little children. It was tiring to watch, and exhausting to listen to.

Next to her, Lothair glanced at her, rubbing the back of his neck. "Um... so... is this my cue?" he asked the other vampire, waiting for her instructions.

"Might as well be," the woman replied, rubbing her forehead just a little.

The moment she confirmed it, the Nycteri vampire next to her quite literally disappeared. A strong wind forced her dress this way and that, but she, herself, didn't react. The wind continued its way right into the alleyway, by Benjamin and Samael. It lasted for not more than about a second, as Lothair reappeared right between the two quarrelling boys just long enough to pick up Benjamin and forced the two to disappear again.

Before the woman knew it, Lothair was back next to her, holding Benjamin in his arms, with the younger vampire looking absolutely stunned. He also looked a lot paler than usual, and knowing what was probably coming, Lothair let him down almost immediately. "Um, you might feel—" He didn't even have enough time to finish his sentence that Benjamin was already collapsing on the ground, letting out unpleasant noises as the motion sickness hit him full force. "... Sick..." Lothair finished, although very quietly, as he rubbed the back of his neck again. "Sorry."

The woman let the male vampires to themselves as she focused her attention back to Samael. "This discussion ends here," she told the demon, and her own voice indicated that she wasn't interested in going around in circles like this, either. "Whatever deal the child spoke of will be broken, one way or another. What is it that you did?" If tensions were so high, then she assumed that it wasn't just a simple matter of a written contract that could be cancelled by ripping the papers. No, it would probably be something worse than that, but she was confident that she would be able to find a way to break it, whatever it was.

Samael tensed as the Nycteri vampire appeared in front of him, and as Benjamin disappeared, the demon whirled around until he saw Benjamin and Lothair appear again. His eyes narrowed into a smirk, which looked more dangerous than amused on the demon's face. "A contract of the soul is a little difficult to break. He is bound to me, and I to him. It just goes to show that one should really make sure if you want to make a contract for all eternity." Samael pulled his hands out of his pockets, palms up, his demon's aura flickering about him in a faint violet haze. "You will return him now."

When Samael put down what kind of deal they'd done, it took the woman a few solid seconds to react. She rubbed her forehead slowly, but the effort was deep. She couldn't even imagine what kind of reason Benjamin would have to make that kind of a deal with a demon, but dwelling on it wouldn't get them anywhere.

It went over her head as Samael started getting a bit more serious, brushing him off a little child trying to look menacing. "What a pain in my side..." she grumbled before sighing irritably. "You included. I am not returning anybody," she told Samael, and she crossed her arms. "I'll be breaking that deal you made, and we'll both part ways here. How did you seal that deal?" If she could replicate that contract, then maybe she would be able to break it more easily that way. Of course, it all relied on whether or not Samael would cooperate. It seemed like neither party wanted to be stuck with the other, so why Samael insisted to get Benjamin back was a mystery.

Samael rolled his eyes at that. Didn't this stupid vampire know anything about demons? Apparently the vampire clans chose to educate their youth very little on the important subject of demonic lore. What a pity. Sighing through his nose, Samael forced a smile at the woman. "How does anyone seal a contract? We shook hands, of course."

Samael's childish reactions went right over the woman's head. She had better things to do than to humor him with her own reactions. Not to mention, once she managed to break that contract of theirs, they wouldn't have to see this demon ever again. Really, it sounded like a perfectly good plan for both parties involved.

A contract could've been sealed in writing, but it was clear the demon was too self-absorbed in his own ways. "Shake hands again and establish that connection back, then," the woman instructed, motioning for Lothair to bring Benjamin closer with her hand. "We will break that contract, and then be on our merry way." Whoever this little demon was, his power couldn't be that terribly strong. He seemed to be just a little whiny boy with an ego complex, and so she was confident that she could offer to break whatever magical connection had been made.

"Why should I?" Samael asked, a capricious note in his voice. He smiled, his lips curling up in defiance and disgust of the commanding vampire woman. "I don't see any reason for me to help you. You haven't even said what you want with Benjamin. What would I be if I let my charge be kidnapped by some upstart vampires?"

"Your defiance is aggravating," the vampire woman said flatly, and at this point, she figured Samael was just arguing for the sake of stirring trouble. Considering he'd been about to kill Benjamin just a few minutes ago, she figured he was defying her simply for the sake of it. Certainly he had no attachment to the young vampire. "My business is with Benjamin, not with you. I am taking him out of your hands, so I'm not sure what more you want from this." She ran a hand through her hand quickly before adding, "You won't have to put up with his silly tantrums nor his whining. Is that not reason enough?" She had no interest in sharing her interest in Benjamin with Samael. She didn't need the demon to stick to them like a leech, contract or no.

"His silly tantrums and whining is interesting to me," Samael said in a flippant voice, waving away the vampire's excuses. He stared at Benjamin for a moment, then the woman, his violet eyes narrowing into slits. "You, however, are beginning to be very much a nuisance. You will let him go now." As soon as the words came out of his mouth, Samael raised his hand, and shadows shot up around him, wrapping around the vampire woman's and her companion's ankles, beginning to creep up their legs, tying them down. Samael's eyes lit up as the latent power surged up through his veins, and he grinned a feral grin, fanged teeth showing. Maybe it was good to stretch his powers, just a bit...

She'd been keeping her calm until then, trying to keep a level head despite Samael's childish attitude. His words had been a nuisance, and his inability to make up his mind had stretched this meeting for far longer than initially anticipated.

When Samael retaliated against them, her patience was at its last straw.

While she heard Lothair gasp behind her, the woman was far from impressed by Samael's amateur powers. The air around the woman changed, as did her face, turning into an angry grimace as she glared at the demon ahead of her. "You are..." she started, and with a simple, hard flick of her feet, she spread the shadows away as if she'd been shaking off paper. Something was emanating from her now, and it was a power that was beyond that of a mortal — and even beyond that of a demon. "... pissing me off," she hissed, gritting her teeth and adopting a more aggressive position.

Lothair had been keeping his distance just a little from the woman, watching over Benjamin, with the younger vampire recovering from such a sudden and strong motion sickness. Benjamin himself hadn't quite been listening to the conversation, and quite honestly, he wanted to go with neither party. Samael was a pain in his side — not to mention abusive, too — while he had absolutely no idea what these two vampires wanted with him to begin with.

Still, whatever was coming from the female vampire was something he'd never seen or heard before. He felt something burn him just ever so slightly, as if he had the sun shining right in his face. He covered his eyes with his arms and hands, although he couldn't tell what was going on. "Ugh... it burns," he complained, not even minding that he was standing so close to that Nycteri vampire.

"Uh, Septima..." Lothair spoke up from nearby, turning to the woman, seemingly unaffected by whatever was making Benjamin uncomfortable. "I think you're hurting the kid." Not to mention, the air vampire was still stuck in place by those shadows — which had been surprising at first, but now they were mostly just an annoyance. Still, he would appreciate it if the woman could free him...

Which didn't happen, as Septima kept her eyes on Samael — far from being amused by his little display of defiance. "You do not understand what power you are messing with," she told the demon, and she cupped her hand into a fist, while the other curled and uncurled as she stretched her fingers. "My business is not with you. Now, establish that contract so that I may break it and end your little game."

Samael's eyes widened with shock as she flicked off the bonds. He looked up at the woman, his eyes narrowing as his mind whirled with calculations. The shadows crept back to their original corners as Samael released the spell, realizing that he might be toying with something very dangerous. A laugh bubbled up out of him unbidden, and Samael shook his head. "Ah, you monster. Fine. It seems that it's a checkmate. I don't know why you want that brat, but good luck with him."

Samael hoped inwardly that Benjamin would explode at the two vampires and end up getting them all incinerated. It's what they deserved. Concentrating, Samael focused on the agreement that he and Benjamin forced, recalling the words that were forged on his barren soul. Samael's right hand glowed a faint violet color, as did Benjamin's. Samael held up his hand, smiling cheekily at Septima.

It was music to Septima's ears to see Samael's shocked expression. Had this been a human, she wouldn't have been so radical, but she was familiar with demons. Showing those creatures any heart or empathy was the best way to waste your time and earn yourself some unnecessary grief. She wasn't about to let Samael start a fight; the demon didn't want Benjamin, and his insisting that he did want it was just beyond aggravating.

Samael's insult went right over her head. "What a childish amateur you are," Septima replied to his words, but she didn't give Samael the satisfaction of seeing her scoff. Mostly for the fact that she was far from being amused.

As Samael finally cooperated and established the contract once again, Septima internally sighed; finally. As Samael's hand and Benjamin's hand both glowed that same color, it was like seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.

She turned around to grab Benjamin by the arm, breaking him out of his makeshift defense mechanism. He gasped at the sudden grab, awkwardly tip-toeing after Septima as the vampire woman brought Benjamin to Samael, so the two could shake hands again. Upon remaking that bridge of the contract, she would break it and separate the two of them.

She could tell Benjamin was confused over everything, but she gave the boy no choice as she forced his hand against Samael's. "Close your eyes," she instructed Benjamin, glancing in his direction as the young vampire and the demon shook hands, "and don't open them until I tell you." If the boy had thought her energy from earlier had burned, he was in for a lot more. Behind her, she felt Lothair move, and she assumed that he'd covered his face to do much of the same.

Once the connection was established between the two, it was time to break it. Septima held the hands together, having one hand on Benjamin's arm and the other on Samael's, as that same searing power from earlier started to bubble up around them again. This time, however, it was amplified; to the point where it felt like the two of them were staring right into the sun from upclose, with no protection whatsoever. Septima's grip tightened on their arms, and she gritted her teeth as her eyes glowed an empty, searing white color as she kept her now-blank eyes on the shaking hands. The power itself hurt her, at this level of exposure, considering the amount she had to use in order to break something so surreal.

But it wasn't just some impressive magical power that she had. It was something much greater, and arguably, it was a power no mortal — or near immortal — should have. How and why she'd gotten that power was her own story, and not one that mattered for this situation. All that mattered was that it would be enough to break that lowly demon's contract he'd forced on the vampire boy.

Samael watched with an amused sort of disdain as Septima dragged Benjamin closer, and he let Septima grab his arm without any complaint or struggle. Indeed, the demon wanted to get this whole ordeal over with. It had been fun, he supposed. In the end, it was a relief that Septima was going to clean up his mess for him. But still. It would have been nice to see Benjamin devolve just a little bit more. He would have been perfect, if he had just broken a little bit more... Samael's eyes flickered in the light from Septima's powers, and he grinned, his fangs showing wolfishly. "Damn. I was right, you are a monster." Samael's voice was appreciative, and he laughed, turning his face away so that he wouldn't be blinded. "Monsters like you sure come in handy. You'd give the boss's back home a runaround, that's for sure. You're worse than a demon."

For Benjamin, closing his eyes hadn't nearly been enough to protect him from whatever power Septima had. Although he could afford to be in the sun, the vampire still wasn't capable of handling very hot or sunny days. He could for a time, but if he stayed out too long, he could get hurt or even sick.

That power was enough to make him hiss and grit his teeth, with the light even going through his eyelids, barely protecting his eyes. Then again, not closing his eyes probably would've left him temporarily blinded, so he couldn't really complain. Septima's grip on his arm prevented him from truly jerking it away, although that was his first reaction. He forced his head away from the light as much as possible, although that was hard to do.

He finally got to breathe when that power slowly started to dissipate. He kept his eyes shut tight, considering the instructions he'd been given, and not wanting to jinx his eyes in any way. As the power dissipated, Benjamin felt Septima letting go of his arm, and his first reaction was to cover his face and rubbing his eyes. His entire face was burning hot, and it was a sickening feeling that was welling up in his stomach.

"Lothair," Septima spoke after she'd let go of both Benjamin and Samael, "take the child." She sighed deeply once it was all done, and she forced the sudden lightheadedness away. Her body felt heavy, and exhaustion came crashing down on her in one fell swoop. The urge to collapse and just sit down for a minute was overwhelming, but letting her guard down around Samael was unacceptable. Even his words weren't worth an answer: he sounded like an overgrown child with an attitude problem, who thought his assumptions could leave an impact, or that he knew better than his elders. What a pitiful creature he was.

Septima didn't give him the satisfaction of making her snap at his insults. "The contract is broken," she stated flatly at the demon, forcing her tone to remain steadily neutral. "Your business with Benjamin is done." And hopefully, the next thing this demon would do would be to leave the scene, the two parties never seeing each other again. If this demon had any real brains, that was what he would do.
