The morgue was constructed upon three floors with hallways ringing around two laboratories in the center, walled of with white painted cinder block. Each laboratory was designated by large black letter on a white painted door with a small window, 'A' through 'F'. A bored looking assistant pushed the girl into 'C'.  

The girl's skin seemed glass-like under the harsh green-tinged fluorescent lights. The polished metal operating table created a ethereal reflection, a ghost in her image standing back to back to her.  Her clouded eyes stared expectantly back at the coroner. His hands were gentle.

"We found her in the Ditch. Those shanties by the railroad tracks." The woman stood a distance back with her arms crossed. She was feeling the cold air of the morgue, and though she would never admit it, the coroner always made her a little nervous.

The coroner nodded. Scalpel in hand, he sliced carefully into the girl. The pungent smell of rotting flesh arose throughout the room, causing the woman to lightly cough. The coroner didn't blink.
