The merchant... The images of the previous day would reach the forefront of his mind, as he thought back to what that man had done in his fury while he had been making his getaway. The flash and crack of that sharp weapon that had gotten thrown at him was still fresh in his mind.
Without realizing it before, that had to have been when his crest had gotten damaged. The tips of his feathers were probably still there on the ground even now.
