She seemed happy enough though as he reached over to snatch a decent piece of the meats. A small series of tiny clapping started up as he began ripping into the food. "Good Doggy!" The girl had cheered, which, as frustratingly embarrassing as it was, made his tail start swaying again involuntarily.

The meat wasn't the greatest thing ever as he started chewing on the bit he pulled off, but after living here for this long, he'd gotten used to things being that way. It was dry, and kind of tough, but it was food, and that's all that mattered.

While he was eating, the girl would just quietly watch with a wide smile on her face. Anytime he paused, to possibly reconsider his earlier decision, she just kept encouraging him to finish eating the rest of his catch. Getting his tail to wag was kind of like a game for her, and she'd giggle to herself each time she saw it move.

After a little while, he ended up eating all the meat he had brought home, thanks to her endless insistence.

Once he was finished, he started swiping his tongue across his mouth to catch any leftover bits that may have been hanging around still. Now having a filled belly, it was much easier for him to start relaxing a little more. Though his mind was already wandering to what he was gonna try next for her. There had to be something out there that she could eat, and he was determined to find out what it was.

For now though, it wouldn't be much longer before the sun would set, and then it'd be time for him and the girl to get some rest for the night.

She seemed to have a satisfied look on her face now once he had eaten the last bite of food. While she wouldn't eat it herself, she was happy that he did at least. And now, it was time for the part that was practically her absolute favorite.

Opening the blanket up, she exposed her arms and opened them wide to Mr. Doggy in an inviting manner. "Here Doggy!" She wanted to cuddle up with him, so they could sleep together in a nice warm bundle tonight.

This was something the girl wanted to do pretty much every single night, so he always made it a point to come back home before it got dark. Because otherwise she'd get very upset whenever he wasn't around. It was a mixture of her just liking having him there next to her, and her seeking out comfort so she wouldn't have to be alone in the inky darkness that the night brought.

Tonight would be no different, as he simply obliged her wishes, and crept up closer to curl himself up against her in the makeshift nest she'd built with the pile. Getting himself comfortable, he rested his head down beside her, and made no major moves as she wrapped the blanket over them, and draped an arm over his shoulders to hug him closer. With another happy giggle, she whispered gently into his ear. "Goodnight, Doggy!" He would quietly reply in kind, even though she didn't understand what he said.

Once they had gotten themselves settled in for the night, the girl's eyes would close shut, and the Tali would silently begin to count out the minutes that would pass by. His ears were perked up, and at least one eye was cracked open ever so slightly, watching for anything suspicious that could come about now that the darkness was claiming more and more of the world as the sun had faded away beyond the horizon.

All the while, he wouldn't make any movements that might disturb the girl.

Breathing slowly and steadily, he listened and listened. And found that, as the grip on him started to slacken, the girl's own breath had started slowing as she began to drift off into her own little world of dreams. He could only hope that whatever her mind chooses to conjure up for the next several hours, they all would be nothing but the loveliest of dreams possible.

Nothing else out there would appear to come up as particularly noteworthy. Aside from the bits of scrabbling of what he could only assume were the rattegan scuttling about somewhere.

If he could do so without upsetting the girl from having to move, the Tali would've gone right out there to deal with them. All they would do is bring them nothing but trouble otherwise should they be allowed to make a nest somewhere in their home. For tonight though, as irritating as it was for him, those little annoying creatures would get to roam to their heart's content without any worry. The chill in the air began to quickly make the temperature plummet, and he refused to disturb her or leave her side.

Things would remain calm and quiet beyond that one particular nuisance he was gonna have to deal with later on. The only sounds that normally would've caused him to worry, were pretty distant as other parts of this town were engaged with their own growing bustle of activity in the later hours. As long as it stayed that way, he had nothing to be concerned about for the time being.

Enough time would pass, he wasn't sure how long it was, that he'd felt satisfied that tonight would be peaceful. With a half-stifled yawn, he would shut his own eyes completely and allow himself to be carried off into sleep.

The night would pass by without any incident. Once morning came, the Tali would begin to wake as pale light began to find its way to their little corner in the room through whatever opening it could find. Which considering the state of this house, there were a lot of holes around. He found himself feeling particularly drowsy as he lifted up his head, now furiously blinking away the sleep from his eyes.

The warmth that was right beside him last night also happened to be absent once he turned his head to the center of the nest.

Normally this kind of sight would be setting off all kinds of alarms in his head, and it certainly did jolt him completely awake to suddenly find the spot completely empty. But his rising fears were quickly washed away when he felt something gently pat him on the head. "Good morning, Doggy!" Came the cheery voice from the girl. He found that as he raised his head up, the girl had rested both of her hands on there, and then started giving him a couple of scritches around the ears.

It seems the girl had woken up before he did. Which shouldn't be surprising, since he had stayed up later than her, but he hadn't seen it that way. Instead he told himself that he was gonna have to do better than that.

But for the time being, getting a few light scratches on the head did allow some leeway for him to relax a bit, and his tail was already wagging back and forth fast enough to start hitting the wooden floor repeatedly.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Came the rhythmic sound from the floor as his happiness became evident. The girl couldn't help but laugh, and became encouraged to scratch around some more. His favorite spot, from what she'd found, seemed to be around his chest. So her fingers made wide swaths around there, running through his dirty and partly matted fur.

It was definitely working, as he was now starting to roll himself more towards his back, and he stretched his legs out into the air contentedly.

It was entirely possible that he would've fallen right back to sleep then and there with the attention he was getting, and slowly he could feel himself starting to drift again. Although there really wasn't time for that right now...

Then, the scratching came to a halt. He'd turn his head and crack open an eye to see what the girl was doing. She hadn't moved from her spot, but she was looking at him with an unusually serious face.

As soon as he saw that, one of her hands came up to rest on the side of his head. Slowly her hand slid along the fur, and intertwined with each individual feather on his crest, as though she was inspecting him. "Doggy... Feathers are broken?" She finally asked, staring now with concern at the few she held in her hand.

Suddenly he internally cursed at himself, and rolled himself back upright again as he realized what she meant. He couldn't see the damage himself, but he knew exactly how those purple feathers ended up that way.
