The Bloody Hell Am I [Private, Mousen, Teen]

"Hey, does anyone know CPR?" "Oh my god, how did she end up all the way out there" "Everyone move aside, I know CPR!"  All the voices swirled around in her head, none of them really making much sense.  Her eyes weren't of much help to her either, for all they could do was make out the blurry outline of a person, or, that's who she assumed was around her.

Image
It wasn't until she felt someone else's lips to her own that she actually managed to get some of her senses back, and she was jolted into reality.  She jerked up to a sitting position, and everyone around her stepped back a bit, including the poor sap who was trying to help her out.

She looked around, bewildered.  Now that she could see properly again, she was really hoping that this was all just a dream.  There were odd animals, ones with numerous tails, tophats and wands, and even ones that looked like the belonged in water, all standing around her, and then there wer humans, and even then there were people who looked stuck somewhere in between, with human parts but gills and fins or tails and snouts of the animals around them.  She shrieked, and backed up, only to find herself with some terrible pain in her backside.  When she managed to bend her head around far enough, she caught a glimpse of two blue and black things, and upon closer inspection, she realized that they were tails.  Not to mention her own two tails.

But, there was where the problem came in.  She had tails!  Tails, for god's sake!  Where was she!  Who was she, for that matter.  Thinking hard, she recalled some brief memories, living in a grand estate, ordering people around.  Olivier.  Olivier, that was her name.  But, now on to the bigger question.  "Where in bloody hell am I?" she muttered.

If you knew knew what the bluebirds sang at you
You would never sing along
Cast them out cause this is our culture
These new flocks are nothing but vultures

Because they took our love and they filled it up
Filled it up with Novocaine and now Im just numb
And don't mind me, Im just a son of a gun
So dont stop, dont stop until your heart goes numb
I dont feel a thing for you

A good few miles away, in a city that was famed for it's pristine hospitals and forward-thinking nature, a young man lit a cigarette. He inhaled deeply, leaning back on the rusty fire escape that lead up to his grungy apartment in an equally grungy part of the city. Grungy really quite the understatement. The entire building was riddled with damp, mice and disconcertingly wide cracks.

The sun was setting. If one had been particularly observant they would have noticed the black out curtains that hung on every window. They might have also noticed the way in which the figure kept slightly to left, out of the last piece of sunshine.

Red-ish orange eyes regarded the sunset from between the blocks of flats and the huge hospitals that lay in the better part of Medicai. Clearly, he wasn't a fan of nature. It was understandable considering the short hand which he'd been dealt. Not only was the albino sensitive to light, a curious skin condition left him looking... Well, Some people thought it gave a nice 'Zombie Apocalypse' look. On his face, his skin seemed to flake and peel, not dissimilar to something that was made from layer upon layer of paper. It could be more than a little unnerving. Beneath this were the features of someone who could have been considered handsome, save for the excessively sharp look he held.

Golyat sighed, sounding every inch as impatient as he was. If the sun could just hurry up and set he could finally be up and about, it wasn't that he had anything particular to do, but it beat waiting around in a dark apartment that smelt of rodents. Just about anything beat that.

"Excuse me miss, but I'm going to have to move you if that's okay.  You've most likely taken in a lot of water, and we need to be sure that everything is okay.  Medicai isn't to far from this shore, so I can drive you there myself." the man who had rescued her explained.  Olivier just nodded groggily, ignoring the teachings that her mother had stressed, about never going with a stranger anywhere, or to run when someone tried to take you anywhere you weren't familiar with.  At that point, she just wanted get to somewhere that she could just lie down and relax.

She felt herself being lifted into the air, and then placed on a soft seat.  After a few minutes, she could feel herself moving along, going over the sandy dunes and the different rocky bumps in the paths.  How much longer are we gonna be on this bloody track... she thought to herself impatiently.  Patience had never been a virtue of hers, and it still wasn't today.

After what seemed like a lifetime, Olivier once again felt herself being lifted up into someone's arms.  They walked a little ways, then all at once the atmosphere changed.  The smell of chemicals overwhelmed her, the drop in temperature shocked her, and when she did open her eyes, everything around her was a pure white.

She heard the man carrying her call out to someone, and she was transferred into someone else's arms, then on to a bed of sorts, which they wheeled into a smaller room.  After that, all she smelled was some strong chemical, and then nothing at all.

Golyat pressed himself up against a wall. Trust him to get into this mess, trust him to-

His feet scattered a few stones and the gang of youths ran towards him and it was then Golyat immediately regretted picking this alleyway to hide in, mainly because it was a dead end. A garage and two brick walls sealing it off, immediately he tried to scramble over the wall. The pointing was cracking and it was covered with moss, so it wasn't too difficult. Well, it wasn't until he heard the raucous yells and threats  that were headed his way and he lost his footing, landing in a painful, ungainly heap on the other side. It was a few feet deeper this side, a few feet which he certainly had not been expecting. Lying there dazed for a moment Golkat was suddenly aware of shooting pain in his wrist. He sat up slowly and waited until the noise from the group chasing him had faded away. (It was then he made a mental note not to get involved with inter-gang politics. The phrase 'don't shoot the messenger' was clearly alien to them.)

Well, another day, another broken bone. Golyat knew there was a reason why he lived in Medicai.

The hospital, as one expects, was white and smelled distinctly of disinfectant. As he walked toward the receptionist in the A&E part of the hospital she sighed.

"Again? Really? What on earth do you get up to?"

Golyat shrugged and after what seemed like an age of the doctor pulling faces and tutting and waiting for a cast to set he was lead to the ward where they muttered something about testing for something or other in connection with how many broken bones he'd had recently and then some medical jargon before walking off. It really was too much fuss for a broken wrist, but he'd had worse. Looking around, the place seemed to be mostly empty. There was a few sleeping patients and a one or two glued to the screens of silent hand-held game consuls, but other than that it all seemed rather... quiet. One girl to his left caught his attention, mainly because she was being fussed over far more by the doctors. In his boredom he wondered what was wrong with her.

"Get me a suction catheter, now!" the doctor ordered one of the nurses.  Before she knew what was happening, Olivier gagged, and struggled as the tube was forced down her throat.  She felt a jab in her arm, and looked down to see a needle being pulled out, and soon her muscles relaxed.  After a couple of minutes, the pressure in her chest relaxed, and she found herself able to breath easier.  The coughing still continued, but the doctor assured her that it was simply a natural reaction, that her lungs were simply trying to expel the last bit of fluid within her lungs.

The team of nurses left her shortly after the procedure was successfully finished, and the doctor left her a little later after bidding her a speedy recovery.  It was at that point Olivier finally managed to get a grip on everything that had happened.  Of course, that really didn't help much, because the more she realized what had been going on, the more confused she became.  Nothing added up.  She'd been combing through one of the dumpsters close to an upperclass family's manor, and then she'd fallen in.  But when she woke up, she was drowning in a sea?

She might not have remembered a lot of what her parents had payed various tutors to cram into her mind, but she knew without a doubt that seas weren't at the bottoms of dumpsters.  Not to mention the fact that she now had to tails and fur.  "Damn it!" she said in a loud voice, her accent slurring it together as a single tear found it's way down her cheek.  She swiped it away, and slid off the edge of the hospital bed and down onto the floor.  She tested her footing, not sure how t walk quite right using four legs instead of just two.  Once she got the hang of it, Olivier made her way out of the room quietly, failing to notice the odd figure closer to the doorway, even as she exited.

Golyat watched with a vague sort of interest at the crowd of nurses and doctors around the kuhna. Eventually, they seemed to leave her alone and she walked out through the door. His curiosity was caught now, and his only other options were to wait around until the doctors decided they needed to drag him off for a blood sample, sit there bored while doctors that reminded him of Sweeny Todd tried to make him bleed to death, then wait while they found nothing tangible wrong with him. Making the snappy decision that there were better ways to spend one's evening, he too slipped out of the ward and followed the kuhna.

He had no intention of following her for long, he wasn't that much of a creep. So instead he went for the more direct approach, out of character for the golem. It must have been the pain medication. "Hey." He said, trying to catch the feline creature's attention, tugging his hood over his head a little bit more. "What happened to you?"

She might have asked the same of him, considering that poor Golyat now looked even more dishevelled than normally, not to mention the cast on his wrist. Still, it'd heal within two weeks. He was a bit of a mystery when it actually came down to his species... He assumed he was some sort of Golem, a failed experiment of some mad necromancer or something. Except, he wasn't quite your average golem, so it would seem he was some sort of cross breed? Like a particularly ugly mutt. No one was quite sure, but the young fellow most certainly wasn't human. His earliest memories were being found by the side of the road by a crazy nanny who kept a monster in a carpet bag.

Olivier was about half way to the exit when a man about her size called out to her.  She whirled around, expecting to find someone reasonable that she could talk to, but instead she saw some hooded creature.  "Hmph.  I could ask the same.  No matter, I don't suppose you'd happen to know where the hell I am?  Or why I now have two bleedin' tails on my arse?  Because, with all due respect, these things weren't here yesterday, nor was I."

She looked around as she waited for this stranger's response, and spotted a desk that seemed to be unguarded for the time being. "If you'll excuse me, these poor chaps are simply askin' to be nicked."  She quietly made her way over, and with a little extra effort, hoisted herself up onto the chair, and pawed through the items scattered all about.  She set aside the wallet, a couple of pens, and the scissors, then quickly managed to get them all in her mouth before jumping down.

Her chest was still quite sore, and the jump certainly hadn't helped, and she nearly dropped everything as she started into a coughing fit.  "Shite!" she muttered hoarsely.  Amazingly enough, it seemed like the stranger was still there when she walked back over.  "So?  I'll need to be a leggin' it if you don't got anything to be saying, cause this blokes are gonna be looking right, left, and center for me soon enough."

(Sorry about the weird accents and words, just figured I'd mess around and try it out.  Just imagine her with a regal accent mixed with a bit of slang I guess?  xD;)

Golyat raised his eyebrows but the effect was somewhat lost behind his hood. "Yepha, how hard did you hit your head? For starters, you're in Medicai, Evelon. Secondly, you've got tails because you're a kuhna. Anything else you'd like to know? Like why you have eyes, for example?" The sarcasm behind his tone was quite clear. Again, he couldn't help but be curious about the little feline. Amnesia, perhaps? "Oh, and I fell off wall, broke my wrist again. Nothing fancy." He replied in response to her statement. He'd broken so many bones he really didn't care about the various slightly embarrassing was in which he ended up back in one of Medicai's hospitals.

It was with a sense of amusement he watched her taking the things off of the desk and he was more than a little confused. The wallet he could understand, but the pens and scissors? In a rare fit of concern for someone other than himself, he was going to ask the kuhna if she was all right but she spoke before Golyat could actually say anything.

He pulled back his hood for a moment, roughly dragging a few strands of hair back onto the side that they should be on. "Anything to avoid paperwork, eh?" The golem-type creature asked. "As someone who excels in the art of avoiding paperwork, I'd say that legging it was probably a good idea. Have to ask, though, what did happen to you? I don't really fit into the category of normal, but at least I know where I am."

"What the hell is a Kuhna?!" she said, irritated.  Olivier shook her head, and closed her eyes, counting backwards from ten.  She could do this.  All she had to do was keep her head on straight, and she could work all of this out, regardless of how complicated this had become now.  "Evelon?  I'm from England?  I think you might've gotten some wrong information of pronunciation." she said, experimenting with her tails and their uses on her way out the hospital doors.

"So, you wanna come along for the ride?" she asked, hoping he would be willing to do a bit more explaining.  Besides, he seemed to be her type of guy: the kind who slunk around in the dark, with a hood pulled over their head.  That was actually a pretty good summary of what she had been doing for the last couple of years anyway.

(Fail post.  So sorry for not replying before now.  I swear, I'm really working on all these replies and whatnot, so they should be more consistent.)

"Do you have a mirror? Because you're basically the walking definition." He smiled at his own joke. "England? Never heard of it. You're in Evelon, no mistake about it. In Medicai city, actually." Golyat was quiet for a moment, he appeared to be thinking something over. "A kuhna is basically like a sentient cat with two tails, little wings and occasionally stripes. Do you even get cats where you're from?" Perhaps she was mad, escaped, ended up in a lake or something and then ended up here. Though, there was nothing really wrong with being mad. Golyat supposed that any shrink that spoke to him for more than five minutes would think he was absolutely balmy. Sanity was sometimes relative to what you knew. Golyat knew weird stuff existed, but not many other people did. It was amazing what people could ignore.

"Uhm, sure, I guess. I have to warn you though... Okay, if I believe what you're going on about, and let's face it, not many people are going to, you haven't been here long. I'm not sure if you're definition of normal is anything similar to what it is here, but I'm not it." Well, it only took one look at Golyat for that to become apparent. "I'm not the ideal tour guide."

The main street of Medicai was made up of white, clean lights shining from inside equally pristine, futuristic-looking hospitals and in the patches where darkness might have been so much as thought about there were lampposts. Not the kind that light seemed to drip from, a yellow light that only succeeded in making everything look dirty and actually illuminated very little. This was the bright, energy efficient light that came from the hospitals. Golyat could still smell the disinfectant. The mix between the harsh light and the natural darkness that surrounded them didn't suit anyone, it gave them a curious, ghostly appearance and it certainly didn't help Golyat who was eerie to start with. The sooner he was back in the alleys and little winding streets the better.
