Breathing steady, like the lapping of waves on a shore, she reached into the deep blue. For a moment, the blue looked back, and then ignored her in favour of its fury. The sea was free, it did as it wished, when it wished. It did not comply with the wishes of silly little air spirits who were so self-important despite being so cosmically insignificant. With a surging glee, the water would rip apart all notions anyone had that it could be tamed. Piper felt this as much as sensed it, her gut felt like it longed for her to plunge into the depths and join the deep blue in its spite.
Grabbing hold of her mortal self, she resisted the sea's pull, holding herself like a rock in the current, strong and immovable. The sea merely parted around her and left her behind. She was aware, on a level she had never been before, that she was weak and inconsequential. Desperately, she reached her mind into the blue, as far as it could reach and then a little bit farther. Only seconds later did she find what she was looking for.
The gentle touch of her mother's spirit soothed her. There were no words in the deep blue, but she could sense that her mother was aware of the situation and wanted to help. The older woman was too far to intervene, but she urged Piper to be strong. With her help, the girl was strong enough to calm the blue - or so she truly believed. She reached her mind, with her mother's guidance, into the currents and the depths. Gently, calmly, she sent pulses into it, like the beating of her heart, urging it to remain faithful to itself and move on. It was great and powerful - it was above responding to the petty attitudes of a mere storm.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.
But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting
Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar
This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth
Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound
