While the waters close to the shore are tropical, Freighlei grows colder the further south you go. Very few areas are covered in ice, travelers are advised to watch out for icebergs. Because of the temperatures, the water is surprisingly clear! (+2 stat of choice)

This Endless Blue [Quest]

Ocean. It had been a never-ending presence after the Land Eater had devoured most of the land. A woman stood in the shallow waters against one of the few landmasses after the incident happened. Right now, she was far from the arctic reaches of her new home, and by proxy, the survivors she had found during that horrid moment in history.

She had left them, but only for a moment while she gathered some things. She would return, and make sure they were safe.

They were most likely safe, those crazed cultists that tried to take them and brainwash them couldn't transverse the arctic waters, it was only by her will that she could grant immunity to the frigid weathers to her companions. If they had to, they would just take to living under the endless depths of the ocean once more.

It was strange, the ability just coming to her like that... being able to talk telepathically and breathe underwater. Perhaps those newfound abilities is what kept everyone alive-- if only she could have done that for the rest of the world.

The other survivors, what were they doing now? Still trying to piece together that cult in hopes of finding some sort of comfort in one another? True, her group had run from them, but they had become different from other humans now. Animalistic, carrying traits from a unique animal. Since then, they had adopted the animal as their name.

She was "Shark", due to having a tail of a shark, and ears that seemed similar to fins. Yes, she led them, blessing them with the power to not fear water nor ice.

Shark dove underneath the waves, her strange ability allowing her to cut through the water at great speeds. Odd creatures passed her, but she would ignore them now-- they were just a byproduct of the Land Eater, and would do nothing for her.

She breached the water, looking around to see if one of the Guardians would find her. Without them, they could never have made their journey to their new home safely.

"Shark? I haven't seen you in months, everything going well?"

"Hm? Oh, yes, everything has been fine. I only worry about trying to survive in our new home.
Food is scarce, unless you rely on fish, and Deer is opposed to eating the animal she shares similarities with,"
she gave a smile, recalling the little girl she had to rescue from the cult. Deer was special to her, like a daughter.

"I see, perhaps you should consider moving to different location. I understand your fear of running into those cultists again, they will never truly accept your kind you know."

She knew that all too well, even though they wanted to brainwash them, she knew deep down that they would never be accepted. They were too different, and would just remain outcasts even if they were to join. Living far away from any normal human was the best thing they could do. "Guardian, where do you suggest we move to then? Underneath the waves once more? Will we never find a home?"

"I'm not sure, only time will tell," the saluki-like guardian lowered her head, unsure of what to say.

Shark gave a long drawn-out sigh.True The Guardian had given her some sort of reply, but not a straight answer. Was it so wrong to want to know something so dire right away? For all she knew her pack could be endlessly hunted down by those maniac cultists.

She closed her eyes, wanting so desperately to believe that everything would end up fine and that her people could live in peace. This turmoil she felt was too much to bear.

It had only been moments since she spoke to The Guardian, now she was swimming in the now endless ocean. Land was scarce, but the waters were plentiful. The normal people could not survive where they could, but there were places where they thrived still. Her clan was only left with a few options. Small islands, the arctic reaches, or back in the ocean. Whatever they chose, food could be scarce. Her only option really, was to find an island by the tropics where fish were plentiful.

Could they survive on just fish, or have their bodies adapted to live off a select diet? Perhaps she could make due with eating whatever edible plant-life was on the island along with any ocean plants. Still, this thought wasn't any less saddening.

Shark rested after swimming for what felt like miles until she hauled herself back on land. An island, hope... a way to survive. Could this be the answer she was looking for? Or would she just be met with more disappointment.

"This place... could it be?" Shark looked around, hearing the faint calls of birds and the lapping of the waves. So far, she heard no signs of normal humans. She wouldn't get her hopes up just yet, for there was always a risk of running into them. However, if there were humans, it would be unlikely that they would be part of the cult, then again-- her kind would never be accepted by them.

Shark continued on, surveying the area, making sure that this new warm island could be the answer she so desperately needed...
