A Wild Newbie Appears!

Postby Meesh » 05/24/2016 1:57 PM

So I made an account years ago, adopted a cake kuhna, and then proceeded to forget about this site and never do a single thing on it. ^^; Woops!

Anyways, I'm back and willing to give this site a shot now! I'd love to find a roleplaying buddy to bear with me for my first thread, maybe get some experience for both of our pets :) I generally prefer rp'ing in pargraphs, but I'm willing to go shorter/longer for anyone who's up for it!

Oh right, I should talk about me! I'm a second year in college, majoring in Biology. Currently I do research on butterflies (I might have discovered a new subspecies!) and I'll be starting up research on social spiders pretty soon. Fun times, right?

I also love bats, my favorite hobby is roleplaying games and crocheting, and this summer I'm learning how to make scale mail! I already ordered the scales, and my friend's already made a necklace and gauntlets.

Good to meet y'all!

Hello and welcome, Meesh! Glad to see you decided to give Evelon another try. =3 I would definitely be happy to RP with you, if you like - feel free to PM me for plot purposes if you wanna give it a go. ^^

Your research sounds really cool! I love butterflies, so the very idea of finding a whole new subspecies...! Augh, that's so exciting. Spiders are a whole helluva lot little further out of my comfort zone, but I can see how researching them might be fun too. Can you give any more details on your findings, by chance?

And good luck with your scale crafting! I have a friend that does scale and ring, and he regularly amazes me with the stuff he puts out. We also have some pretty cool bat pets; be sure to check out the Morloth and Batti. =D

I have my Cake Kuhna from before, but I definitely wanted to get a new pet. I found the Batti earlier, I found one I think I love but I'll check out the other species too!

And ohgod, I'm fine with bugs but terrified of spiders. This new research is gonna be interesting ^^;

And the butterflies aren't for sure yet! I have five examples of the 'new' subspecies, but I need a lot more to write a paper on it. On thursday I'm going to the local museum - they gave me permission to go int the back and check out their collection -  which should give me 20 or 30 more examples to work with! That's when I'll know if I'm on the right track or not!

Once I decide on my pet that I'm gonna adopt, I'll pm you with plot ideas! Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Hello!! I'm Zap, welcome (back) to Evelon!
I'm also super interested in your research; discovering a whole new subspecies is wicked exciting for sure! I'm always up to roleplay, as well, once you get into the swing of things. ovo

But there will come a time
You'll see, with no more tears
And love will not break your heart
But dismiss your fears
Get over your hill and see
What you find there
With grace in your heart
And flowers in your hair

Hi there, Meesh!

You've already been well welcomed and I think we've pounded the basics into your head, haha! So count me in as another person saying that, along with "welcome," your research sounds SUPER COOL. When I was little, I would've gone gaga over the chance to meet a scientist who actually discovered something! Though little kids don't know about the rigmarole of papers (I may not be a scientist, but I do know about having to write really long things)! ;P So keep it up, because you're secretly a hero to curious small children everywhere! Or MY inner small child, anyway...

I'm so cool (too bad I'm a loser).
I'm so smart (too bad I can't get anything figured out)!
I'm so brave (too bad I'm a baby).
I'm so fly
That's probably why it feels just like I'm falling for the first time!

I'm so green (it's really amazing).
I'm so clean (too bad I can't get all the dirt off of me)!
I'm so sane (It's driving me crazy)!
It's so strange
I can't believe I'm falling for the first time!

Pffh, there shall never be enough welcome! Never!

And hah, well today's the day I'm gonna figure out if what I told y'all was real or just incorrect rambling! We're going to the museum today to look at their collection! Five examples does not a paper make,  but they have like twenty or thirty more, so with any luck that should be enough! There's a whole statistic's equation that determines how many examples you need to make something significant but I haven't figured that out yet because ew, math

I think I may do my first breeding soon~ I was in a darn near panic when I read the prices, because I read the 80ks as 80k s aka 80,000 stones. Gosh was I glad when I realized I had misread! Now just to rent the perfect male for my Kuhna...

Hello! I'm late to the party, but I figured I would welcome you, too. So, welcome! c:

Around here, everyone just calls me Toxic.

Your research definitely sounds interesting, as I am both a fan of butterflies and spiders, and I hope everything goes well!

I mainly wanted to pop in and let you know that there are breeding seasons that somewhat randomly occur, and each season does different things. There is a thread in the Updates where it is posted when a new season is going on, and the season going on now may prove helpful to you. If you can start a Kuhna breeding during the season and finish quickly, then you'll be refunded the cost of the room, as is the details of this season.

I saw that season last night! I'd be really excited to do that, I love Kuhnas! I just need a male - I've been looking through the breeding rentals and trying to figure out which users are active enough that they'd accept a request I'd make for one of their males within the next two days.

I saw a lot of your posts during my forum stalking, so it's wonderful to meet you officially :) Thank you again for the welcome!

Also as an update to the butterfly thing, there were over a hundred specimens at the museum o_o I was too tired and braindead from taking all those photos under a hot lamp all day so I didn't upload/process them, but I'm going to tomorrow between classes! Then I have to figure out what to do with all that data ^^: So progress is going well!

You can rent any of my basic kuhnas for free, Meesh. :) They should be up in my rental listing but I haven't checked my thread there in forever so sorry if it's outdated. ^^;

BTW, welcome to Evelon! xD;

And I've read through this entire thread to see if you found anything about the butterflies so yes, very interested in your findings there. (Though I can skip the spiders lol- I have night terrors/nightmares about them if I just see one so.. yeah. The terror is REAL with those things.)

Welcome to Evelon, Meesh! ^^ It's nice to see so many new faces around, for sure. I have no doubt that you'll be a great addition to our little community here, and it looks like you've already gotten off to a running start. :3

I'm actually a Bio major myself as well (just graduated two years ago), and your research sounds super interesting! I did some research for a while myself on dragonflies and damselflies, and they're pretty neat critters. I love just about all animals out there (not huge on spiders either, although I've had to handle them before as well - eek!), but ended up in microbiology for my job, haha.

Anyhow, welcome again to the site, and please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions/concerns/just want to chat! Life is a bit crazy at the moment IRL, but once things settle down, I'd love to RP with you, if you're looking for new writing pals. ^^

I was gonna take you up on your offer, Mojave, but before I knew it the season had passed! Sorry about that! ^^: I may come back to ya next month!

And hello Flame! Thanks, I do love to dive right into things~ Problem is I tend to wear myself out too quick, so I do hope I don't keel over a few weeks in!

And hey, another Bio major! Dragonflies and damselflies, gosh. A lot of my bio friends are in an invert zoology class right now where they have to catch a bunch of insects from multiple families (80 insects total and I think 12 families?) and they all agree that the dragonflies are among the hardest to catch. I'm impressed that you'd be able to do research with them! Critters are fast.

And of course, I'd be glad to rp and/or chat at some point!

Thanks all again for the warm welcome!
