Indigo smiled and conjured a towel. "Oh, stop it," she said, seeing Lysander's expression. "I'm just transporting things. They're real."

"It's immoral," Lysander said.

"Riiiiight." Indigo rolled her eyes. "You want to go home? Oh, and if you're wondering about the peppermint, criminals drop it to hide their trail. There's a werewolf in the Watch."

"And most people are wrong about who it is."

There was a great fwooshing. Roth landed carefully between several people, who ran away. "So...now what? I personally could use some sleep."

Wolfie stifled a yawn and nodded. "I think sleep sounds good. We could stalk Moist tomorrow..." She rubbed her eyes, and nearly tipped over. "Heh, I think my panic attack stole my energy." She grinned. "By the way, did you see that lady I was talking to?" She started laughing uncontrollably. "It was really funny. She was really... funny... Ok, is there a hotel somewhere nearby?"

Someone walked into her, causing her to fall forward. It was a man, and he apologized, taking her arm to help her up. It was then that he realized she had fallen asleep.

"Yes, I saw. Well, I only saw part of it," Indigo admitted. "Then I had to deal with Assassins. Uh. Hotel...hotel...I have absolutely no idea."

"I have an idea," Lysander said with annoyance. "Let's go to that place, what's it called? Oh yeah, home."

"You're dull."

"I'm wet." He shook himself pointedly. "And I'm tired and I want to go home."

Indigo glanced at Wolfie.

In her dream, Wolfie was floating.

She was floating a foot above the ocean, sitting cross-legged, staring at the horizon, the sun setting, the purple water seeming to never end.

Below her, in the water, something moved. The deep purple abyss moved, and she realized that some of the dark purple was black, nightmarish black, and it was so big, coming at her, coming closer, until it jumped out of the water, a giant fish, bigger than any whale with sharp, jagged teeth, and it swallowed her whole.

In her dream, she was now floating in the monster's stomach, floating, not seeming to care that she had been eaten alive.

"Uh..." Indigo exchanged a bemused look with Lysander. "Yeah, let's go home." Having had ridiculously excessive experience with transporting sleeping (or unconscious) people, she was able to pull out the old one=person saddle and strap Wolfie into it without much trouble. There wasn't much else to be done. They were tired, thus they should go home.

"Where are you sitting?" Lysander asked from his bag.

"You'll see. Take off, please."

Roth did as instructed. As tended to happen, the end of his tail stayed down slightly longer. Indigo grabbed it and climbed up like the tail was a wall, then sat carefully, hooking her legs under Roth's flanks.

They disappeared from Ankh-Morpork, despite the probable later argument, because it was easier than spending half the night looking for decent lodgings.

Wolfie woke with a start and realized that she was in the most comfortable bed she's ever slept in. She ran a hand through her short hair, recalling all that had happened yesterday. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed, jumping off and heading through the door. She was in a magnificent house...

She felt so out of place.

She remembered bugging the woman and laughed, walking down a hallway, smelling familiar smells that told her she was probably at Indigo's house. She heard the slight hum of a fan somewhere and it comforted her. She wandered around, exploring the giant house for every turn, every window, every door...

Indigo picked up one of the cardboard boxes against the wall and shook it. It made a shattering noise. "Oops. I hope that wasn't anything important." She set it down and opened it. Oh, it was just those ugly figurines. She'd been trying to get rid of those for ages.

Now, to find Wolfie...

Indigo decided not to wake Lysander, who was still outside with Roth. She wandered around the house, tripping over boxes as she looked for Wolfie. She was concentrating so hard on not falling over that she almost bumped into her friend.

"Hi! Sorry about the mess," she said. "I'm actually in the middle of moving. I found this amazing treehouse a while ago...never mind. Um. Do you want a ride home, or to Vandermeer, or somewhere?"

"Hm..." she hadn't even noticed the boxes until Indigo had mentioned them. She thought for a minute, and finally said, "Hey, what if you come to my house?"

"Or not?"

Wolfie jumped as Chouko appeared behind her, the girls arms folded over her chest. "Why?" Wolfie said.

"Well, see, your house? A disaster." She turned to Indigo. "You know what she does? Everything has to be in chaos. If I dust or arrange things neatly she gets pissed. I can't even clean the floors which, by the way, are covered in dirt."

"It's a cave Chouko. Do you expect me to put in a carpet and cream colored walls or something?"

"You could at least sweep up once in a while. I always end up doing most of the chores."

"Hmph," Wolfie said. "So, do you want to come and I could tape her mouth closed?" She nudged Chouko with her elbow.

Indigo laughed. "Sounds good," she said. "How did she get in here, anyway?"

There was a lous thump from outside, followed by swearing in draconic that translates roughly as "May your wings turn into limes and be eaten!" Draconic swearing is very strange. Lysander came streaking around the corner, deftly avoiding boxes and skidding to a halt near Indigo.

"There's a--he's got--they have--dragon!" he panted. Indigo ran to the largest window she could find, which was big enough for Roth to climb through, and opened it. "Roth!" she yelled. "I'm going to make new boots out of you!"

Roth looked sheepish. There was another, smaller dragon next to him, which meant that the other dragon was about the size of the average one-story house. He was almost completely white, but tinted with yellow. Indigo knew him of old; his name was Chirrup, and he had been a friend of Roth's ever since the Gray War. "I'm sorry," he said softly. "Just...Roth said he wanted Tendency to come be the Dreambearer, and I was an escort--"

"What's a Dreambearer?" demanded Indigo.

"The Dreamworker's dragon," Roth said defiantly. "It's an ancient custom! Didn't you pay attention when you were creating Vandermeerian history?"

Indigo sighed. Tendency, the third dragon, was purple-tinted white and a female, which meant that she had horns and a longer nose. She was about Roth's size and watched Indigo with blue eyes.

Indigo walked back over to Wolfie. She knew all the dragons of Drakonika well, and Tendency wasn't one to back down. "There's a dragon here that wants to be yours," she explained.

"It won't be lo--" began Lysander, and Indigo kicked him. "You're not allowed to listen to my CDs anymore."

"Wow, really?" Wolfie walked to the window. "Um... sure. Wow. Yeah..." She turned to Indigo and blinked. "Let's go."

"Can I ride with you?" Chouko said. The usually seemingly dangerous girl was standing at the window staring at the dragons with an excited gleam in her eyes.

"Sure. Why not?" Wolfie slid out the window, followed by Chouko, and said, "Hi, Tendency, I'm Wolfie. This is Chouko... We'd like to go to my cave. Should I give you directions?"
