((Okay, so forgive me if I do this all wrong. Brand new here, and bringing over a RP I had up in magistream that just wasn't getting enough attention. So, here it is! A dragon rp. And yes, my definition of the Savage Skins are a lot like a certain adoptable this site has, that I only realized after I had written this whole thing up.

Coincidence!

I promise.

But anyways. Enough of that. Hopefully my style isn't too confusing!))

.:: Story ::.

Modern day, but in a forest untouched by humans, a forest that has yet to know the bitter sting of man-made metal being forced through their flesh.

It's springtime, the forest overflowing with life and sustenance, everything there taking advantage of the peak in availability before the Big Wet came tumbling down from the sky. This isn't a evergreen forest; but in fact, a tropical one, full of lush, wide-leafed plants and twisted gum trees intertwined together with vines, colorful birds dipping through the canopy and the floor alive with all the exotic wonders Mother Nature has to offer.

Living immersed in this hazy rainforest ecosystem is a particular species, critical to the environment, but often gone unnoticed. They are nearly impossible to find, and leave no traces of themselves behind once they die, so it's rumored that they don't even exist.

But they're there.

And they're dragons.

Savage Skins.

A species with enough brain to form a tribe, if you will, an organized society, where primitive instincts are shaped into authority, and meaningless happenings into organized beliefs and occurrences. A pack, much like that of a wolf's or a lion's pride. Nothing like having books and cars and money, but a much simpler society, a much more wild one, centering around their own survival and the survival of the forest.

.:: Skeleton ::.

Username: (Your name)

Character Name:

Age:

Appearance: (No pictures, unless you drew them yourselves! I know you can describe something fantastically if you really wanted to. And if you can't, then, you're not literate enough for this board anyways. -_-

ALSO, your dragon has to abide by certain physical traits, being it is part of a certain species, unless you've requested otherwise. If you're abiding and being part of the Savage Skins species, then you'll need to fill out the form below****)

Weakness: (Has to have at least one. And not anything stupid, like, 'oh! He's afraid of the dark!' No.)

Personality: (Please be detailed with this. Not just, 'She's happy a lot.' or 'He likes shiny things.' Use description!)

Brief History: (Just a little something about your character, their status, their mental stability.)

****Ignore this if you aren't being a Savage Skin. If you ARE (which you should be) then fill out this appearance form!

Age + Size:

Size is according to age. If your dragon is say, 9 years old, which is still just a baby, they'll be the size of a small leopard. 20 years old (which is just hitting puberty for a Savage Skin), then they'll be the size of a large tiger. If they're 50, then they'll be just a bit bigger than a large tiger. And that's how big they get, no bigger.

Legs + Gender:

You have 6 legs. Three on either side. Your dragon's torso is long and muscular, much like a feline's, and supports the first two sets of legs. The hips support the last pair. The options here are if you are male, you have a venomed claw on the heels of your hind legs, much like a platypus. If you're female, then you don't.

Scales + Appearance:

The scales are small but tough, being stronger than bone but feeling like smooth, textureless skin when touched, like a shark's skin. The patterns that splay across the skin can range anywhere from stripes to spots to polka dots, but they all have to have some neon colors in them, to help blend in with the tropical environment. You have fun figuring out what they look like. There are no wings, but six legs, and a long, whiplike tail for balance. You can choose if there is any fur along their spine or if there is spikes or sharper scales or w/e...it's up to you.

Eyes, Ears + Powers:

Eyes can be however you want, but there are four. Two larger, two smaller just behind them. Ears can be just holes in the head like any other reptile, or they can be flopped out like a goat's, or layed close to the head like a cat's, or any kind of mixture you can think of between. Powers, you can only have one. Able to control water, read thoughts, blow fire, levitate, control inanimate objects, whatever it may be, you have to have it not be that strong, and you can only have one. Take into consideration that your dragon is a powerful creature, with a strong body and agility that tops anything on the food chain, as well as acidic spit and venom. We can't have them being these perfect, unkillable beings, now can we?

Ranking:

The Savage Skins have a sort of society. There's warriors, leaders, hunters, gatherers, breeders, builders, etc. Each physical trait that is most prominent on your dragon determines what they are. I.E., if your dragon has a thinner build, they'll most likely be a gatherer, because thinner means quicker and more agile, which is just what a gatherer needs when snaking through the canopy to collect fruits or eggs. You dig?

So, according to how you made up your dragon, rank them how you see fit. Below is a list of the positions available for the taking. If your position isn't there, then you'll have to modify your character.

NOTE: THERE CAN BE MULTIPLES OF ONE POSITION. This enables there to be lots of one thing and to show you you can still be what you want without having to do a fatty list. IF IT'S NOT UNDERLINED, YOU CAN STILL BE IT.

Postby Eian » 10/25/2010 7:07 PM

.:: Accepted Characters ::.

HEALER:

Username: G a n a

Character Name: Evolet

Age: 19

Appearance: Evolet has a smooth, vibrant blue hue to her, with two solid yellow stripes bordered in thick black lines starting just below her jawline and snaking down her sides, winding down and twisting into gradual waves that ringed around the base of her tail as they grew closer to her tailtip. She has a white underbelly, that starts at the tip of her lower lip and goes halfway down her tail, small U's of the color bowling out on her inner thighs and arms.

Weakness: She is a Healer, so she is in a constant state of either resting or healing; since her 'power' is to heal, to do so drains her of her own physical strength, so she can only do it to a certain extent before putting her own life in danger.

Personality: Evolet is vibrantly spoken with a temper that is hard to arouse, but once unsheathed, impossible to get down without her spilling blood. She is passionate about everything she does, and at times, gets a little bit too interested in how things work, and the ever-eminent question as to why. Her past gives her a sensitivity to those who are wounded, which will be explained in her history.

Brief History: Evolet used to be a Warrior, placed in that Ranking by a Chief who judged poorly. He thought that since she could heal herself, she would be the best kind of Warrior; incapable of dying, if you will...but he failed to notice that she can only heal others, not herself. So while being a natural Healer gave her a longer life span and more supple means of surviving, (quick rejuvenation and all that loveliness) it didn't make her immortal, which the Chief was led to believe. Once returning from a fight with four of the party dead, the Chief made an uproar, being they retreated, knowing they would have died if they stayed. That didn't make the Chief too happy, since she led the party, and banished her. Wandering around, hopping from tribe to tribe, she finally came upon this one, a place where a Healer was needed and the others looked up to her as if she were a Deity rather than a faulty fighter.

Age + Size:

19, since she's female, a bit larger than a lion, but smaller than a tiger. Her build is lean and elegant, and holds a grace to it.

Legs + Gender:

Umm, six of them? And she's female, so no poison for her, I guess.  :dead:

Scales + Appearance:

She is very graceful, being that's one thing that just comes with being a Healer. Her form is smooth and elegant, with soft, calm movements that causes a sort of reverence to hang about her. She has two white horns protruding from the back of her skull, and silky, white fur running down her neck and down her tail, tufting out at the end.

Eyes, Ears + Powers:

Her four eyes are a brilliant green, standing out and seeming to almost glow with energy. Her ears are long and look floppy, like a goat's, but are actually firm with cartilage to the touch.

Ranking:
She was a Warrior in previous tribes, but has now been translated to Healer in her current one.

~

WARRIORS:

Username: Jetfire

Character Name: Asis

Age: ( do you mean character age or my age? )

Appearance: A deep flaming orange with silver streaks running down his back and neon blue swirls on his muzzle.

Weakness: Despite his fighting personality, he can't bring himself to harm females or young. This has lead to his many defeats at the hands of those he has sworn to kill.

Personality: Asis is sometimes what a human would consider ' psychopathic '. If you piss him off, he's not going to sleep until he brings you down and rubs your face in the mud. He has a soft side though, he won't harm females or young ( as mentioned above ) He hates embarrassment ( mostly his own ) and weakness.

Brief History: Abandoned after he hatched, Asis was left to fend for himself at a very young age until he found his current tribe. He has been scarred, both physically and mentally, through out out his life.

Age + Size:

19 years old, he is the size of a tiger. He isn't the biggest or fastest, but he is certainly strong.

Legs + Gender:

Male, so I'd have the poisoned barb.

Scales + Appearance:
His scales are the deep orange of a raging wild fire, sometimes even feeling warm to the touch. He has three rows of forward facing sails on his back, making him look like a spinosauras on steroids. With six legs.

Eyes, Ears + Powers:

Asis has eyes very much like a snakes, but his are completely charcoal black with no differance throught. He has small holes in the sides of his head in place of standard ears. Asis can produce a weak electromagnetic field around him, but has the power to bring down full sized lightning bolts. This is very draining on him, and he only uses this power we he will die otherwise.

Ranking:
Asis is a powerful warrior, enjoying the mass slaughtering of many other tribes. His raw strength has brought down many foes, Savage Skins or not. His scars show the many battles he has fought ( and won ) He does not win every war though, since he refuses to harm any Savage Skins except full grown males.

Emo'et clung to the damp bark of the tree, his delicately pointed claws submerged into the grey skin of the massive plant, holding his weight.

Where had it gone?

His sleek tongue flicked out and tasted the air, much like that of a snake's, the black, forked appendage snapping out and in exactly three times, searching for what his eyes could not see.
His grip in the tree's gummy bark tightened as the scent he was searching for trickled over his senses, flooding over him like a wave of icy satisfaction.

There you are.

His muscles went rigid beneath his skin, and he gripped on to the tree with his other four legs as his front two reached up and sunk into the bark, a clear liquid oozing slightly from the sudden puncture. Hoisting himself up, he detached his other four legs and re-attatched them, causing himself to climb, all in one smooth, fluid like motion which took about seven seconds to complete, and looked eerily similar to an inch worm slinking slowly forwards. The only real difference was that his movements were quick and exact, much unlike an inch worm's, and they had a desire to kill behind them; also much unlike an inch worm's.

His bright yellow eyes stared up into the flurry of softly swaying leaves, the vines that draped down from the trees obscuring his view. He had no pupil, but instead flecks of red and orange around where one would be in the yellow orbs he used to see from, which could not only take in visual images, but could read heat signals as well. From them he could see the soft heat outline of a form shrouded behind a bunch of wide-fanned leaves, the hidden creature seeming to try and mask its heat signals by hiding behind the cold foliage.

Smart.

But not smart enough.

Emo'et's lips curled up in a grim smile, exposing a black-gummed mouth stock-full of teeth, each one coming to a clean, precise point. These weren't teeth just to puncture, these were teeth to tear.

His tail flicked silently in the air behind him, the furred tip snapping softly as it curled around, the black fur trailing like a swallowtail behind him. Other than his tail-tip, the only fur he had on his body was that that trailed down the gradual curve of the back of his neck, tapering off and eventually dissapearing somewhere between his shoulder blades.

When still and standing on all six of his legs, it hung flatly and straight like a horse's mane, and it draped and swayed with his body the rest of the time, somehow not getting tangled in all the brush he snaked through while hunting.

As far as Savage Skins went, his skin wasn't all that colorful. As he crept forwards up the gum tree towards his prey, he coulnd't help but think as to why he had to be subjected to this.

He was Warrior material.

He knew it.
And he knew everyone else in the tribe did as well.

He had been the first of his siblings to hatch out of the eggs, the quickest and cleanest to complete his first kill, the strongest out of his brothers, proven over and over again whenever they demanded a play match that left the other panting in the dirt, body covered in a glossy sheen of sweat and mud from their tumble, Emo'et's form standing over them, head dipped and maw clasped softly over his brother's throat, the winning move.

But his fur was black, and his skin was as grey and colorless as the gum tree he was climbing, except for a few orange and blue spots that trailed down his sides and tapered smaller down his tail, only to eventually morph into stripes which ended where the tuft of black fur began.

So, sure, he wasn't the deep crimson all his brothers held, the most colorfully gifted one being Al'ect, with his vibrant blue streaks of color that slashed over his brother's sholder blades and joints, giving him a viscous appearance; and he wasn't the cool rose color of his sisters, their milky skin delicately decorated with soft plumes of white and yellow and orange, looking like an elegant flower rather than a deadly creature....

...but he was still stronger than them all! Smaller, sure, but his slight size difference made it so that he could whip around the muscly bulk of his brothers and wind his way up quicker and snatch the food faster and deal the blow sharper and do it all, all so much, so much better, so much more well executed than the rest of them.

But no.

He was here, the Chief deeming his abilities were good enough for being a Hunter for the tribe, but nothing more. So as he sprang upon the creature behind the leaves with a perfect silence, sunk his teeth in and remembered not to inject his venom because this was tribe's food, and just because one's immune to their own venom doesn't mean the rest aren't affected by the acidic poison, he remembered to bit hard and grasp the body with his legs, his hind two the only ones keeping him from falling seventy feet to the forest floor, he remembered to twist as he bit down, to jerk upwards with his head and tug down with his claws to sever the head, to do all of this so perfectly, so that the creature would be dead within the first minute of making contact, to better enable him surviving before the thing had a chance to fight back...

...he remembered to do it flawlessly, effortlessly, to produce a whole kill rather than a leg of one or a tuft of fur or feathers when he came home. But it was meaningless. And as he slid down the tree, grasping the large mass of his kill with his middle legs as he pressed its hot, bleeding body to his white underbelly, he had half a mind to dissapear with it and never come back.

But no.

His tribe needed him, at least for this much.

So he would stay.

((Dooooone! Sorry for the long intro.))

A snarl built up in her throat. It was an outrage! Her claws dug deep into the rooting wood of a more than ancient tree as she fought to calm her temper. It was a petty and childish thing, yet she could barely a contain a rational thought without it spiralling off into incomprehensible growls.

After a good few minutes the anger had receded enough for her to see the slight humour in the situation. "You idiot Indarra." she muttered to herself. So, she'd been mistaken for a male again. It was just another scratch in her pride, right? Just another thing to be bitter about. Sure. She could go with that. All the more reason to be the individual she was; bitter, sarcastic, angst ridden. It didn't matter to her, or atleast she was a good enough actress for her to get away with pretending it. Indarra was just as she was, her feminine name was almost ironic considering her rather masculine build. Everything about her screamed anger and the strength to back that up. Constantly on a short fuse, constantly being hated, though everyone was too scared to tell her what they really thought.

Cowards. Lily livered, back stabbing, cowards. She hadn't had someone openly disagree with what she'd said for much time. She could really do with a good debate. Then again that was probably why she'd never really gotten close to anyone in her tribe.

She stepped out from the shadows, her scales glimmering a bright orange for a moment or two, until she moved and the sun hit her at a different angle. Indarra had yet to realize she was mere feet away from another of her tribe-mates.

The mass of hot flesh pressed to his body seemed to steam, even in the humid heat of the forest. His free four feet padded silently on the ground, the front two looking more like hands than paws. He weaved around beneath the underbrush, dipping beneath large, almost plastic looking leaves that drizzled warm water if you touched them.
The ground was thick and moist, some parts being mud that sucked you down (he avoided those areas; they weren't necessarily something you wanted to get caught in when alone) others being pools of fungus-filled water, or patches of spongy moss that gave way to your weight in such a way that it offset your balance with the sudden give the ground was offering. Even so, his movements were silent, but somewhat awkward; the mass of flesh clung between his legs was something he'd have to get used to moving with.

His tail flicked impatiently behind him, knowing that he smelled of blood.

Fresh, pungent blood, the flavor of red so strong it was almost stinging his oversaturated senses, and it made his stomach roll up in the back of his throat, knowing that whatever was just behind the brush around him could smell it too.

His soft padding on the forest floor became a efforted run, the extra 45 pounds of the kill something he wasn't used to sprinting with. Sure, little bursts of energy gave him the ability to drag away something like this easy; but running all the way home? He'd be sore in the morning.

Something shifted to his left as he leapt by, and his heart skipped a beat.

Why was he so on edge?

If worst came to worst, he could just drop the kill and run, escaping whatever with just a bite or a scratch that could be easily healed by the tribe's Healer.

Ah, Evolet....

...Emo'et's almost panicked run seemed to slow and even out as his mind fogged over, thoughts of his sister pooling in his consciousness like a cool stream of crystal clear water. They weren't actually related, being she was a newcomer who wasn't hatched here, but they instantly bonded. She was five seasons older than he when she came, and she still is; and mating a female older than you (unless she a breeder, he thought wistfully) is like mating with your actual blood related sister; a big no-no.
So as he shook his head and cleared his mind of the smooth elegance that was Evolet, he couldn't help but have all his muscles go rigid beneath his skin as the gradual realization of another being in front of him came into view; too close, too close! and he dug his heels into the mud, squeezing the kill tight to his chest, and slid up and out of the underbrush directly into the legs of a golden-orange scaled female.

Indarra.

She'd have his head for dinner.

It wasn't the blood that bothered her; it was the sound.

The sound that clawed up and burst from their mouths, the horrible, heart-wrenching wailing, which bubbled up and out like hot, toxic tar that filled the room with its painful presence.

The sound of her people, her tribe, in pain, the cry that escaped their mouths as she pressed her front four clawed hands against their wounds, the whimpering that dribbled from their lips as she felt her arms start to quiver with the effort, and the last, fitful groan as the wound was shut and the glowing stopped and the cold sweat that clung to both their bodies started to slide down them as they both collapsed, the healed onto the soft downy leaf nest, her to the trodden floor, if her watcher wasn't there to catch her limp form.

Evolet's breath came in quick, sharp bursts, her chest rising and falling like a caged animal going into panic.

Wow, that had hurt.

Usually it just brought on a dull ache afterwards, and she'd have to curl up in her nest and lap up some nectar that pooled in the flowers around her vine-woven home, but this time, this time the pain was a full-on hurt, one that bit down into her like the sharp teeth of an angry mother, protecting her young.

But then again, it always hurt if it was a big wound.

And this guy had pretty much gotten a chunk of his shoulder bitten out, so, she should have expected as much.

((Short post...sorry. I can't really think of anything to start her off with... ))

Indarra let out a howl of surprise as she was skidded into. She was taken off her feet and plunged into a lukewarm, filthy puddle. Her dark eyes focused on Emo'et, they narrowed, sparking full of untold hatred. In truth she had nothing against him, he did seem to be one of the individuals that were actually decent in their morals, and in what they strived for.

"You." she spat the word. He was in for a whipping, it was the kind of tone that made you flinch and take a step back even if it was focused at your worst enemy, Indarra's anger was something everyone tried to avoid. Her way of picking out what you angered you, what you feared, all the things you were negative and throwing them unintentionally toward you. It was completely crushing. When fortunes turned foul and Indarra's wrath was upon you, the best thing to do was just act terrified, and pray to something that she didn't cause you any lasting damage. As of yet no one had, had the backbone to get angry over

"You clumsy, useless, idiotic oaf! You disillusioned, big headed, over confident fool!" The birds overhead chirped and squawked in fear, flying off to find safer, Indarra-free roosting spots. "Who has no right to even be a hunter, infact with your complete and utter idiocy, I expected you to barely scrape scavenger! Infact, I think our leaders mad for even keeping someone like you!" she was digging a hole for herself. Indarra could tell. After this there was no way he'd even come near her, her back was completely unprotected if anyone should seek to turn on her. She was completely alone, and it showed. She was picking on his every last nerve, in an attempt to destroy his self confidence and everything he stood for.

She didn't mean it. Not really. Her anger was there, but also was the guilt and the many other conflicting emotions that really didn't want to be like this. That had never wanted to be like this. There was regret plain to see in her features, never had anyone had the chance to see it, there was little chance Emo'et would either.

Normally her wrath would go on for much longer than this, normally she'd be screaming for minutes, the insults falling thick and fast, though now Indarra found that she couldn't continue. She opened her mouth as  if she was going to say something but thought better of it. "E-Emo'et... I'm... I- I didn't mean... I'm sorry. " she attempted lamely. Desperate for her change on heart to be heard.

(If her character seems very conflicted, that's because I've done my job right. XP )

" Up! UP! " roared Asis. " You'll never amount to anything. Weakling! " His opponent laid, in the mud, trying to catch it's breath.  " If you can't win, you die. They all die. Now, it's your turn. " And that turn came quick. Asis walked away from the corpse, his legs rippling with muscle. He aquired a few scratches, but they were nothing. He walked through the undergrowth, looking for more challengers until his tribe had planned the next assault on their enemies. He roared in victory. Then silence, as if the forest respected his power. He continued, and the chorus of sounds began again. As he arrived back at his tribe, a few young romped up to him. " I want to be a warrior like you! " one said admiringly. He glared. Despite his raw unending fury, he simply couldn't bring himself to harm young. They didn't deserve to die. At least, by his claw anyway.

Will I forever linger on?

He stood numbly, the muscles on his legs quivering slightly as Indarra's words fell like needles on his eardrums. She was saying what he hated to acknowledge but somehow knew held some sort of truth in it, be it the over-confidence or the leader who was mad at keeping him in his current Ranking.

But he knew he was over-confident; it's what kept him alive.

And their leader was mad; mad for not seeing Emo'et's potential at being a magnificent warrior.

He let her finish, staring at her blankly with bright orange eyes that were in focus but unreadable emotionally. He could feel the hot blood of his kill dribbling down over his two arms, the two that clutched it so desperately to his underbelly, earnest to show the tribe yet again his success.

And then, just as quickly as her hot temper bubbled up into existence, it was gone; replaced with a quiet, almost awkward feeling, a muted kind of way of being, and he tilted his head to the side, staring at her, as her stammered apologies fell like stones from her lip; unreachable, but there.

Her muscled form seemed to shrink in upon itself as she spoke, and a twinge of recognition sparked through Emo'et....

...he had felt that way before.
Not understood, trying to make himself heard, but unable to find the right words once someone was actually willing to listen.

He opened his mouth to speak, paused, and let his black tongue snake over his equally black gums before letting his vocal chords kick into action.

"Just because we are wild doesn't mean our tempers have to be."

His voice was deep and soothing, but held a dark edge to it; as if, as if he had seen things, done things, that caused his words to hold a silent looming, an endless dread, one that clung to each syllable and made his shoulders droop and his chest heave with an exhaustion brought on not from a lack of sleep, but rather, a mental exhaustion, one a traumatic experience or horrid memory brought on.

His speaking ended abruptly at the last word, and he simply stared at her, waiting to see if she was finished. After all, they were in the middle of the rainforest, and just because they were the most deadliest thing out there, doesn't mean others weren't eyeing the fresh blood that ran so freely from his prize.

( My Dsi is being stupid and not letting me use red font )
As he walked through his tribes territory to his sleeping tree ( which is the only thing he sleeps in ) he heard the two bickering. He decided not to get involved. Mutany only weakened a tribe. He hates weakness. A self confident male stood in his path. " Lets fight big guy. I could take you down you giant slab of walking stupidity. " With that, Asis brought up his front leg, sending the male flying, landing with a decent thunk. The sound from the blow was startilingly load, drawing the attention of most of the tribe outside. Almost sickeningly casual in his movement, Asis scaled the almost cork-like tree into a large hollow filled with leaves and dead ferns.
Here I lie
Among the rot, and the decay
The ashes and remains of an old life
My mind seems to stay
Though my body is dead and gone,
I ask you now this simple question
Will I forever linger on?
