Oh, boy! There was nothing Figment liked so much as the chance at a good, rousing battle. Well, alright--comic books, chocolate, costumes--but battles let him stretch his psychic powers, and that HAD to be one of his top 5 favorite things ever. Maybe not as cool as comic books, but close.

His parents couldn't be here to watch him today, which was rather unfortunate. But they had sent in their stead, to look after him--or perhaps to give him something to look after--little Mellan, the other child whom they had recently come to adopt. They were both psychically endowed--a curious coincidence, to be sure--but their sense of brotherhood for one another couldn't be denied. Mellan rode on top of Figment's head, seated on top of his favorite hat.

"Yay!" Mellan cheered. "We're gonna have fun!"

The two of them lept towards The Trap Brothers, claws outstretched.

Snare lowered his head, his five horns gleaming in the sun. "C'mon," he whispered softly. "Come and get me..." Suddenly, he lunged, aiming for the tiny Shimin, trying to knock him off balance.

Noose raised his hooves, judged distance, then kicked, aiming for Figment's legs, trying to make the Lucain collapse.

Figment ran back to his brother. "Are you OK?" He stood firm beside the Shimin.

Okay, that had hurt! Annoyed, Snare lowered his head, charging again, this time at the Lucain. Noose, behind him, was also running, preparing to attack. His hooves flashed, as he went for the tiny Shimin...

"Aww. It was nothing, Figment. You did most of the hard work..."

"No. I couldn't have done it without you," Figment said indulgantly.

Mellan called out across the battlefield. "Hey! Great fight, you two!"

"Thank you," said Snare respectfully, while Noose snorted. He had quite a different opinion of these opponents, who had taken them down with shocking force and ferocity. They had barely had any chance to fight back! Why was his brother so obliging? Bother his brother.
