What was your childhood pastime?

Oh, my sister couldn't read at age 5 and my brother couldn't read fluently at age 7. And I was the only one in my K-1 split who reminded the teacher when the date was wrong (I was in kindergarten XD). So I figured it was kinda uncommon, but I guess not...

The younger kids here prolly could read earlier than the older ones. I was talking with my dentist the other day about the school system now - it is CRAZY the spelling tests they're having in 2nd grade. O_o I was still flippin' my "d"s and "b"s at that age, not spelling "parachute". :/

Anyway, yeah, my first overdue library book was a dinosaur book. XD I played with Barbies SO much. That was my thing, man.

AND GIGAPETS.

And then I got to fourth grade and kicked older boy's asses in Pokemon card game tournaments. YESH. (And then I went home and played with Barbies! )

I also read a LOT. Which ISN'T A CHOICE THERE, BAAL. It should be. I read more than I played with Barbies. XD

OH yeah! I was a total libraryhead as a kidlet. I wasn't me if I didn't have an overdue library book. XD I remember one book I borrowed and read a whole bunch of times, to the point that I began to pretend I was friends with the characters. It was Wizard's Hall, by Jane Yolen. Soooo much fun! I still remember the jump rope rhyme at the end of the book, though I won't write it here, 'cuz it's a spoiler. You know, in case you feel compelled to go look for it or... something.

I also remember when we were learning about worms in day camp. I was the only kid who'd pick up and carry the worms in my bare hands. XD

*gasp* How could I forget books! *_* xD *shot'd* And Pokemon too, that should've been a category all it's own. Oh yeah! I forgot! I used to draw and make fake Pokemon and Digimon cards! I seriously need to scan a few in, they're hilarious! And I made FOIL cards too, ya know... the shiny rare ones? :3

My username, Freezair, actually comes from my favorite of my made-up Pokemon. She was a weird, blue Jigglypuff-esque thing... Ice type, of course. Eventually, though, Freezair just became a generic character, and then it somehow also become my Internet alias. Wheeee! =3

Dinosaurs when I was REALLY little.

At ten I saw what the 'big kids' were doing. Pokemon cards. So I went to the pokemon kid expert on the playground, Shelby.

I begged and I PLEADED for just one card. And I saw her going to give me an energy and I was like, "Not an energy or trainer. Like a pokemon, pokemon,"

She sighed and gave me... a bellsprout! 8D I was over the MOON!

Then my mom bought me and my sisters (cept lauren, -laughs at her-) pokemon cards. And I took the pack with Blastoise on it. I opened the pack and got a holographic Raichu!

And I was new, but I already KNEW this was big so I kept it safe...

Yup... I still buy cards and have over 10 lbs. worth of 'em in my binder. ^____^;;;

Lessee... I was one of those dino-freaks when I was little... I remember I got in trouble in pre-k once for throwing a triceratops at some boy who was annoying me.. Ha ha, that was the same teacher who sent me to the corner for "rolling my eyes" at her... At that point, I wasn't even aware what "rolling my eyes" was. *shot*

Then I was a Pokenerd, then a Diginerd and a Sailor Moon nerd... I still squeal when old-school Pokemon comes on on Cartoon Network, like if I'm flipping channels or something.

After that... I dunno what happened after that, (I was into Card Captor Sakura for a time) but sooner or later I stumbled upon Naruto and was a Narutard until America butchered the anime.

And now here I am. O: Watching obscure animes, reading obscure mangas, and generally listening to obscure music.

(Oh wait! Aside from Zoids (Zoids are still love), it was my cousin who got me into anime, I remember. She showed me Fruits Basket on her computer up in PA...)

I still have a neatorific T-Rex, and I love mah Mayasaur or whatever it is... The real motherly one. Jeez, I should prolly remember the name of my favorite dinosaur, but whatever. XD I love it and that's that.

CARDCAPTORS WAS AWESOME.

The thing I remember most about Cardcaptors was that it had the BEST TOY EVER associated with it--a big Clow book with all of the Clow cards in it! My best friend and I argued over which ones were "ours, and we carried all those cards with us the year we went as Cardcaptors for Halloween. And then we would play "The Cardcaptors" game, where we would draw cards and make up fights. The game was mostly ad-libbed, but there were really specific rules associated with certain cards. Like the Light and Dark, and the four elemental cards.

AH! I must tell you the story!

It was a day, like any other day in the barren waste lands of Iqaluit... Actually it was summer, so the snow was (mostly) gone. ANYWAY! Dad came home with a dinosaur! FOR ME! 8D I was happily playing with it... Well Alannah was a poo head of a baby. If I was having fun well, that's not allowed under her dictatorship.

So she took my dinosaur!

But usually I'd just sit and cry about it. But no, this was MY dinosaur, so I actually went to take it back. Being bigger I had some advantage, but Alannah knew how to fight (for a four year old anyway).

But I, 5 year old cry baby was winning! YAY! But Alannah pulled a dirty trick and bit my dinosaur! She left teeth marks!

I was so mad and sad and frustrated... I ran away from home! XD

Then my neighbors phoned and asked what I was doing at their house and I went back home. X3 BUT STILL! XD

Things that I'll admit to from my childhood- I owned Barbies, mostly because my other girl cousins loved them and always wanted to play and just liked the little animal toys you could get with them (likes animals, so yea). I liked Pokemon (and I still play the games, went and got Pearl Version recently, I still have my pokemon plushies in random places). And I did a lot of out door stuff.

I'd take my plastic animals outside, dig trench system with pools and stuff, fill it with water, and play with them out there.

But the option that isn't listed would be beanie babies. I loved those things! I have....hundreds. I still buy one every once in awhile.
