This is something that came up in the IRC a couple days ago, and I was wondering if maybe people would be interested in it? I can set up an introductory campaign or two if people are interested. There are a couple things people would need to play, though:
- Roll20.net account - completely free; allows for interactive maps, live rolling, and chat system (either type or mic will work)
- Myth-Weavers account - wonderful online character sheet site; also free
- A set time to "meet" with me online and make up character sheets/background plot things - this can take a while, be warned
There are pretty much two versions of D&D that would be super great for this: 2nd edition and 5th edition. I have everything I would need for both of them. It would really be up to you guys' what version we would be using.
2nd ed:
- This is what I have been playing recently, so I'm pretty used to it by now.
- Old but good, 2e was a great improvement on the first-ever things.
- It DOES need a little modification (mostly AC because THAC0 is terrible)
- The entire rulebook/monster manual is available online through purpleworm.com/rules
5th ed:
- Brand spankin' new - for anyone with a frame of reference, it's like 3e and 4e had a kid, and their child is beautiful
- Relies more heavily on character backgrounds for things and lends itself well to roleplaying
- Pretty easy to understand from what I've seen of it
- I haven't done a lot with it (just got the books online today), but I think I can manage it.
- All the books are .pdfs, so I would have to e-mail the book to you
If you wanna play, say below.
If you wanna play, vote on an edition in the poll.
If you wanna play, let me know if there's some kind of genre/style you'd like to play.
