Cosplay?

Postby MillietheWarrior » 01/08/2016 5:03 AM

Yep, I'm an old nerd. I've cosplayed three cons so far as Cooking Mama, Sadie from Steven Universe, Majon Buu female version from DragonBall Z, and Denise Cloyd from Walking Dead
I have a small group of friends who I do this with and who are amazing cosplayers! These are our pics from Sacanime. I went as Denise from Walking Dead the first day. My friends were two of the scary things from Five Nights at Freddys and my other friend was Deadpool.

Second day, I was female Majin Buu from Dragonball Z and my friends were Deadpool, Harley Quinn and the other was some sort of maid who got cut off.

Edit; here is my Sadie. My friends were the sitting Pearl, Steven and Lion. The Pearl with the sweet staff and the badass Rose Quartz were people we met at the con

And heres Cooking Mama; I was not too happy with the overall look cuz I could not find a nice shirt for the life of me. But the dye on my apron worked well and I enjoyed creating that cake

Also look at this guy! Such a nice dude and he hella looks like Rick from Walking Dead! He owns it man
http://i65.tinypic.com/126bqfp.jpg

I'm curious if anyone else cosplays and if you do, I'd love to see. My next two cosplays for Summer Sacanime are Poison Ivy with my friend's Harley Quinn and female Boba Fett in a Boba Fetta kimono that, instead of making for once, I am buying custom. I'll be wearing it with black stockings and boots and plan to paint a blaster to look like his.

I love adventurous tales like that. That uplifting feeling that comes from seeing unknown lands and the knowledge that you came across—nothing can replace it! It opens a path from which self-confidence, experience, and important friendships—from the sharing of life or death situations—are born! But hearing it just isn’t the same. I want to create my own magnificent story!

A great adventure!

Awesome costumes! Even if I don't really know who any of those characters are. (I know of them, at least!)

I do some cosplaying for conventions. Quite a lot, now that I think about it. Here's three of my recent ones.

Pinkie Pie. That big Pinkie statue was part of an MLP promo they were doing at a con. I've worn this costume to multiple conventions, since it's simple and comfortable enough to wear whenever I don't have anything else planned. Here's another photo I took with a burlesque Pinkie I ran into at a different con. Also Gummy is cosplaying as Toothless; he has a little Build-A-Bear hoodie.

ORAS May. (On the right.) This was like a week after ORAS came out, so it's a little hacked together. I had fun with it, but I probably won't wear it again. That Mudkip plush I have there is over 10 years old, from the original games.

Inkling (Splatoon). (On the left.) It's unfortunate that this is the only picture I have of this costume, because I had been wearing it for a while and my hat/hair was a huge mess. My partner did a really awesome job on the weapons. He made an album of how he made them, too. This is an alpha version of the costume - we're still working on an improved version for next time.

Disclaimer: None of the people in the photos are my friends, they just had costumes I wanted a photo with.

Awww those are so cute! I've seen tons of MLP cosplayers at the cons and they are always so adorable! I love your Pinkie Pie!

-cracks knuckles- I've been cosplaying since... January 2014, so there's a lot from me, ehe. Getting photos back from cons is a game all unto itself, so I don't have pictures of a whole loooot of my costumes. They're here, though.

Most recently, I did Alphys from Undertale at Yama-Con in December.

Before that was Mike from FNAFat a panel at MagmaCon. Both Bonnies are friends of mine (I actually met Purple Bonnie/Vinny at this con, too).

ETSUcon gave me this really great picture of my Neku from TWEWY. Unfortunately, my side seam split probably right before this, but I plan on remaking the shirt anyway- it's super tight!

Way way back at this really badly run con in JC (which a combination of ETSUcon existing and Black Materia being garbage thankfully destroyed), some really nice people got this photo of my first attempt at Team Flare Grunt from Pokemon X/Y. I still want to get a wig and remake the belt buckle for this because it's really a fun one.

A friend of mine was doing photography things in college, so he wound up taking me and my Matt from Death Note cosplay to this old generator building, and it was so. cool. Oh my god.

Steampunk is always fun, too.

I can't find decent photos of the rest but I've also got:
- Vinyl Scratch (MLP)
- Virizion (Pokemon)
- Punk!Demyx (Kingdom Hearts)
- Teal Inkling (Splatoon)
- Loke/Leo the Lion (Fairy Tail)
- Sandile/Krookodile (Pokemon)
... maybe more, I can't remember anymore. I also own a giraffe Kigurumi, which is probably the best investment I have ever made.

Current massive project is Alexander Hamilton from the Broadway musical "Hamilton." I'm gonna wind up making that green coat, his Revolutionary uniform, and maybe his black late-show coat, as well as the understuffs for all of those. MY friend is gonna be Lafayette (in the background of the Revolution photo with the epaultettes) and also Jefferson (purple coat), but he can't sew, so I'm gonna make those, too, oh god, save me.

I make it out to cons anywhere across east/middle Tennessee as well as North Carolina. Depending on how this year goes, I might get out to MTAC in Nashville, and I'm almost certainly going to Animazement in Raleigh. I love that con. I've been for the past two years, and I'm excited to make it three this May.

These are all super cuuuute ahh omg ;D;  I've done a few cosplays! I'm not the best at making them, and my mom tends to help a lot. xD I like to attend MTAC when I can, like Azura, and hopefully I'll be able to go for at least one day this year.

I was Jack Frost at one point, taking advantage of the snooow:
[x] [x]

And then some friends and I cosplayed Masky, Hoody, and the Operator from Marble Hornets; my mom and I made all the costumes, but I'm the one wearing Masky's stuff:
(the above ref pictures are fuzzy because the whole dang series is like that lolol)
[x] [x] [x] [x] [x]

Aaand I don't have any good pictures of this one, but I have an old flip phone photo of my Clive Dove costume from Professor Layton xD:
[x]

And my most recent one was Crona from Soul Eater:
[x] [x]
(Excuse the weird lighting and slight costume malfunctions; I was at a trunk or treat event!)

I've also cosplayed L Lawliet (Death Note), Dave Strider (Homestuck), Zacharie (OFF), Kazuaki Nanaki (Hatoful Boyfriend), and Kano Shuuya (Mekakucity Actors), but have no good pictures of them as of yet. x'D  Ah well. Being L was probably most fun, except my skin seems to hate eye makeup with a fiery passion, so it's something I try not to do very often.

Cosplays I'd love to eventually accomplish, once I get better at it, are:
Crow from Fragile Dreams
Seccom Masada from Yume Nikki
Sans from Undertale
Mettaton from Undertale
Mewtwo/Armored Mewtwo from Pokemon (This one would be challenging to make look nice!)
Speed of Sound Sonic from One Punch Man
Nyaa Hashimoto from Osomatsu-san
Korosensei from Assassination Classroom (same as mewtwo this one would be hell)
Mello from Death Note
And it's kind of a running joke but one day it'd be hilariously fun to cosplay Orochi from Okami, and build a kind of weird circular bench-like structure inside of the shrine with eight people inside to control the heads. It would be terrible and could never get through doors but could you imagine.

But there will come a time
You'll see, with no more tears
And love will not break your heart
But dismiss your fears
Get over your hill and see
What you find there
With grace in your heart
And flowers in your hair

"Tomorrow will be a good day."

I've done a few cosplays, not too many since I'm bad at sewing and I feel lame asking my mom for help xD; My very first one was Osaka from Azumanga Daioh. I don't have any good pics of it since that was ageeessss ago, but that's where I started.

I'm pretty sure my next one was my son Pit, which...is still in pretty good shape despite it being years old o3o I wore it pretty recently to my Smash Bros. Club's Halloween tournament.

I've done Jintan from Anohana, which was really simple since it's just a shirt, jeans, sneakers, and some hair gel xD Anohana is a somewhat obscure anime, but it's pretty dear to me and I even got the chance to meet its writer when I went to Anime Expo!

While I was still obsessed with Homestuck, I did a cosplay of Jade Harley. The one in the center, if you couldn't tell xD

I closet cosplayed John Bender for a Breakfast Club thing at school...

Aaand lastly my most recent cosplay is Shuu from Hatoful Boyfriend C: I had LOTS of fun with that one, heehee. I even put red nail polish on a feather to make it look bloody.

Aaaaah, you guys are precious. >w< Cosplay is kind of my life- it's one of maybe three hobbies I actually have now- so I really like seeing what other people do when they get into it, too. I'm like a living directory for cosplay help for my friends, too, so feel free to hit me up if you're working on something but get a little stuck? If I don't know how to do it, I can certainly find someone somewhere who can.

Back from the deeeaaadd!

So Sacanime is coming up in September and I am most definitely considering doing Lady Loki (Baal knows this and has geeked out with me; I needed her opinion because she is Loki expert <3) I'm going to be doing a diadem instead of the headpiece. I am considering Poison Ivy, but more likely I'll just focus on the one cosplay, Lady Loki. I plan to do a corset, leather leggings, boots, a fur lined cape, the diadem, chains and shackles on my wrists and ankles, Loki's scepter, and I may either do a wig or dye my hair dark during that time. I usually have red hair, which is why I wanted to do Ivy. I dunno...Any suggestions or preferences? I'm curious about what people think? Loki would be the easier of the two; less sewing and fabrication. With Ivy, I wanted to do a long dress and lots of leaves, and even make snap dragon type pets (like the Mario flowers, lol), but no wig needed there.

I would personally suggest wig for the Loki cosplay for a couple reasons. 1, you can do the cosplay over and over again without the need to re-dye and re-style your hair every time. 2, as I am also a redhead, I know that red hair tends to hate dye and sometimes comes back a brown or having lost most of the highlights after you dye it. If you've done dye before and know your hair comes back fine, you can give it a shot (especially if you're strapped for cash), but wigs tend to be less hassle for me, so I usually suggest them.

So the Loki idea didnt pan out because I am horrible trash that can't make up her mind.

I'm going to Kraken con in Oakland this coming weekend and I am going as...a Splicer from Bioshock and a hippie gijinka of Volcarona. I have a light up staff I made from a pvc pipe, clay and some cool orb lights I had. I made all the jewelry I'm wearing, and I've spent all day doing the wings. Splicer took maybe all of two days, if that, to finish? My friend is a bunny splicer, so he's the male splicer and I'm the female cat splicer. I'm so excited!

The next two I've officially decided to do for Sacanime are Totoro and a Twi'lek Jedi (cuz I love me some Star Wars!) And I am actually going to buy the costumes from someone who makes custom kimonos; its Skycreations on Etsy (seriously check her out dude!) and I'm gonna fabricate all the other things I need (like the headpiece and lekku for my twi'lek). I think I may end up making my own lightsaber; not sure if I have the skills to do the wiring for it, so I might take apart a store bought one and rebuild it around it.

I love adventurous tales like that. That uplifting feeling that comes from seeing unknown lands and the knowledge that you came across—nothing can replace it!
