Also. In case anyone hasn't seen it and wants to, there's been a lot of leaked information. If you don't like spoilers, don't reeead!

For one thing, we essentially know the final evolutions of the starters--except there's a catch. Apparently, each starter (and Rockruff's evolution, and potentially others?) will have four branch evolutions that differ depending on something to do with one of the four islands in Alola! And type varies, too. For example, Rowlet's evolution Robinroot will be, Grass/Flying, pure Grass, Grass/Electric, and Grass/Ground. I'm most excited for that grass/electric combo, like holy heck. Robinroot is my favorite of the 3 final starters, but Beltigre (thank god for no fire/fighting) and Sirene are awesome, too!

Also Beltigre's branch types are Fire/Dark, Fire, Fire/Ghost, Fire/Poison.
and Sirene's branch types are Water/Fairy, Water, Water/Fighting, or Water/Psychic.

Even the names are great ugh I just love them. Robinroot = robin hood + root, Beltigre = belt + el tigre (a wrestling icon + spanish word for "the tiger," which could also be a reference to wrestling), and Sirene = siren + serene. Whoever names Pokemon must have had fun. xD

As talked about above, here is a link to the final evolutions of the starters. We're treating these as canon mostly because they not only have "CONFIDENTIAL" written on them, which the papers of pokemon concepts in the first teaser trailer for Sun and Moon had, but there's also a girl with a flower in her hair in the final evo of Litten's picture near the bottom, who was then revealed in the most recent non-leak release of Pokemon--and the two look exactly the same, which implies that these are the real deal. It's explained here.

Secondly, and this is the big one, the same person who leaked all this information (as well as some other stuff I haven't mentioned) has leaked what looks to be the entire Pokedex. However, we only have names and no pictures--but a friend and I recently went through all of them and were able to discern what a lot of them must be just by their punny names (bless you, Pokemon). We're both a big fan of nomenclature. xD

This was released on 4chan, just as all the other leaks were, so tread with caution! Full Pokedex is here; again, if you don't want spoilers, even if these might be fake, don't look! Of the ones I'm most excited about there are a dark/electric space dinosaur line (815-817), what I can only assume is a yeti/bigfoot creature (809), a gargoyle line with a branch evolution (811-814), the baby version of Drampa (784), an opossum line that may or may not be based off mimes (745-746), the third legendary that seems to be based on eclipses (Malshadow, which is a confirmed copyrighted name by Nintendo) (824), and Rockruff's werewolf evolution that does the 4 split just like the starters do (740)! Whew, it's just so much information.

I'll forever be sad that they didn't name Rowlet's final evolution Robinhoot but that's just me. I do have to say I think that Rowlet's final evolution (at least the default grass/flying one--no telling whether or not it'll change appearance with its different typing) is one of the absolute coolest final evolutions ever created. On my team forever. <3 If you'd like to know my friend and I's theories on any of these other Pokemon names, just ask and I'll give em!

Considering that this "leak" contradicts other "leaks" we've seen, and some of them definitely feel like, well, people trying to escalate potential information ("The starters have two forms! No, they have FOUR forms! There are 90 new pokes! No, make that OVER 100!) I am, in fact, kind of loath to believe this until we know anything official. The thing I especially notice is that this "leak" tries to take certain pieces of info from the other leaks and portrays them as official, but also blatantly contradicts other things from those leaks! (Things such as the number of Pokes in the final dex and the starter stuff, mostly.) The starter final evos I think I do believe, mostly due to the presence of the then-unreleased character, but most of the rumors that have been swirling in its wake I take with Snorlax-sized grains of salt.

Though I will admit, if we get SPACE DINOSAURS, I will be all over that.

I guess my main reason for believing them is just how detailed all of this is. xD Those names sound legit. But if they aren't real I'll still be excited because that means a lot of the game is still a mystery! But if they are real...

I'm a bit hesitant to believe that as well, BUT I do remember earlier on Corocoro did say that the starters and Rockruff "had a secret". I was inclined to think this was Mega Evolution, but I'm not sure if they're even going to focus on that this game, considering they haven't revealed any new Megas so far (which...strikes me as kinda odd since Mega evolution was something really played up for XY/ORAS). And considering that earlier leakers kept disagreeing on the final evolution types (I've definitely heard both Water/Fairy and Water/Fighting being speculated for Popplio, and a few different ones for Rowlet)...maybe, just maybe, this is actually right? They do seem to be doing a thing with the islands inspired by Darwin's theory of evolution, as shown with Oricorio.

I could see the starters having split typings for their final evos or some way to switch forms, but the contradicting surrounding info is what makes me cautious of believing, well, any one of these leaks besides the concept art. A number of them contradict, and in ways that aren't easily reconcilable. For example, the starters having two forms vs. them having four forms--with the previous claiming the forms are based on day evo vs. night evo, a well-established concept in the series vs. the forms being based on each island, which is new-ish but which we've seen supported in at least two kinds of Pokes so far--Oricorio's forms and Tapu Koko presumably being one of four.

For example, this list shows a cat Pokemon whose type varies based on breeding. However, that Pokemon showed up in an alleged leak that mentioned you getting something after a gym, and by and large Alola does not seem to have gyms. Instead, it has the challenge/kahuna system. This puts that claim on shaky ground. Similarly, while this list gives Rockruff's evolution as having multiple types based on island, it disagrees with the first leak where this idea was put forth, which listed the starters as having day/night based final evos.

I'm firmly on the side of not believing anything unless I hear it directly from Nintendo.

Also, I guess I'm just not that into finding out as much as possible about a game before it comes out. I'm happy to be surprised by stuff. I feel like spending a lot of time speculating about how the game could be clouds my ability to enjoy the game as it actually is. Not that I'm anti-spoiler or anything. I guess I just don't like to hop on the hype train, for lack of a better phrase.

Pokedex one definitely debunked, since it showed Bewear as a single stage Pokémon. I'm kinda meh on the new pokemon shown today, but I love both new alolan forms of old Pokémon shown today.

Yeah, that leak was definitely debunked. It failed to predict most of the new Pokemon shown today. That said, maybe there's still a chance for split evolutions since today's reveal mentioned Rockruff having a "secret evolution", and we already know that Rockruff shares something in common with the starters.

The spoopy sandcastles are an interesting concept, though they might need to grow on me a bit. I'm pretty meh about the fish and the Bewear pre-evo, though I think it's a neat nod to nature that the fish can look like a bigger fish by getting into a school. Alolan Marowak is really the only Pokemon in this reveal that caught my attention; it reminds me of fire dancers and that's super cool.

I appreciate how they're actually trying to go for a Hawaiian vibe with the Pokemon designs this time. Even though Kalos and Unova were heavily inspired by France and America, nothing about their Pokemon really...showed that they're from those countries haha.

Haha, I do agree though. They're really pushing the Hawaii theme, at least with the teaser stuff. Definitely more than they have for other regions.

Related note: This made me take another look at the Unova Pokémon, and there's actually ton of American stuff in there. (Eagle, buffalo, deer, literally cotton...) More than it seems like, for sure!

Ahhh RIP cool fakedex, ye will be missed. ;v; These new Pokemon are neat, though the only ones I actually like are the new Marowak and Meowth x'D The fish school is a pretty cool concept too, though. The sand castle,, I'm not sure how to feel about it, it's so silly x'D And I dislike Bewear's pre-evolution just as much as I dislike it's evolution pffftftftf.

I agree it's super cool that everything has Hawaiian influence, though. That alone redeems the sandcastles for me. xD Plus ghost/ground is such a cool type combo lolol. Also @Thunder idk just because the big pokedex leak was fake doesn't mean the final starters are fake! I'm holding out for Robinroot. xD

Funny story, Steven and I were talking about potential Alolan forms last night and Marowak came up, since the Fire-type Trial Captain is said to have a Marowak.  I was half-right on its typing, too (I was predicting Ground/Fire and looking somewhat volcano-ish).  I also love the Alolan Meowth--then again I'm a sucker for cats, lol.  I'm hoping that Persian and Cubone also get Alolan forms--I don't see why they wouldn't, personally.

I mean yeah Unova had Braviary, but...that was really the only distinctly "MURICA" one other than Bouffalant xD I wouldn't say deer or cotton are really "American" since you can find them in other parts of the world, too.

And I think those final starter evolutions are confirmed at this point, I meant rip the name Robinroot haha. It's a good Pokemon name, but since that fakedex was debunked that might not be its actual name ;^;

On the subject of Alolan Marowak...I just realized. It's totally a reference to the Lavender Town ghost. I see what you did there, Pokemon Company : |
