It's going to take me some time to find an editing program that works for me and actually learn how to use it, but for quite some time now I've considered doing small little Evelon tutorial videos. For example, here is a short video I took when trying to explain to Mojave how you can actually move your gradient overlays around when you're working with pet PSDs. This video has no audio as I did not have my headset on hand at the time she was asking. It also has garbage right at the end of me shutting off the recording, which would be edited out when I've actually got editing software.

Anyways. I'm posting to ask you guys, what sort of tutorials would you like to see? Here are a few I have planned;

° Moving gradients (a better version of the example from above)
° General overview of making and using layer masks.
° Making faded markings for palette babies with he use of layer masks and gradients
° Producing two toned markings for palette babies
° Removing a pet's aura, so it won't get in the way of drawing your add-ons
° Easy Lucain wingblade removal, using just the Blank PSDs provided to users.


Is there anything else you guys can think of that you'd like visualized in a video tutorial?

Alternatively, I guess I'd like to know if people are interested in this idea at all. There have been 25 views on this thread without a single comment, so if I'd be wasting my time making tutorials I'd like to know that too.

Very interested in the idea! I just have no other suggestions at the moment! You've got things pretty darn covered; my main question was about masks, and you already have that on the list~

I'm interested! Like Zap, I just don't have anything in specific I want to suggest. I'm mostly interested in seeing how staff does it to get a better sense of what I can do on the stuff I design.

I am definitely interested in seeing a tutorial on how to remove a pet's aura, since at least two of the pets I want to get add-ons for have auras that have made sketching their add-ons a pain.

OH yeah also auras. Dang, auras for sure. Those things will be the death of me; so far I've managed to work around it by trying to perfectly replicate it on a flattened add-on layer beneath the base pet with Outer Glow, but if there's an easier way, I'd love to know.

I too would be very interested in the video tutorials; perhaps have it as a sticky thread in the 'Help' section? It would be a lot easier than googling how to do stuff and digging through vague, slightly similar turorials, or just bumbling through trying to figure it out on your own.

Okay, so I still need to finish up getting my editing software and actually learn how to use it, but for the time being I have done a test tutorial on removing auras. Once I've figured out how to use editing software I'll make a new video, since I left out some good information such as being able to use this technique even if you don't have a PSD, so long as you have a copy without an aura. But yes. Test run gooo.

Great test run!! That's super duper helpful to me; I assume this method can also be used to remove the wingblades of a Lucain, right? ovo Thanks a ton for the video!

Indeed it can. =) You just turn off all the wingblades and wingblade lineart before merging the PSD to use it as your mask.

Whooo. Okay. It's been a journey, man. Definitely going to redo the tutorial on removing auras so I can add in a bit more info here and there that I forgot and such, but for the time being I used a different tutorial to do a quick little run.

Also, yeah. I'll try to make a nice help thread with all of these tutorials stickied at some point or something.
