A few days ago, I accidentally stumbled across the site, and decided to join, since I love Pokemon and, well, I get to advertise Evelon in my forum signature and profile there. Plus, its something simple, so when I only have five minutes to do something, it gives me something to do. I figured, "Hey, lots of people on Evelon like Pokemon, so I might as well share."
The game focuses more on breeding, hatching eggs, and collecting than it does battling. You can battle other users but, from at least what I have noticed, few seem to focus on that. You don't start with a grown Pokemon, your starter comes in the form of an egg which must be hatched, as do most Pokemon.
There are features such as fishing, game center mini games (which you can net yourself legendary Pokemon eggs as prizes, among other things), bug catching contests, a Safari Zone, berry farming (and completing little quests using farmed products), cooking, badge collecting through tasks, plushie collecting, other quests, and so on. And, of course, trading and Wonder trading. They even have a Shiny Wonder Trade function, that only trades shiny Pokemon.
There are unique Pokemon colorations just on the site, some of which are quite nice, although I haven't gotten my hands on any of them yet. Right now, there is also an event going on to net one of their newly released uniquely colored Pokemon, so it's a pretty good time to jump in.
Fair warning, not all features are accessible right away. Players also have a trainer level, and more features are unlocked as your level goes up. Some things are also unlocked by completing the game tutorial, which explains a lot of things.
Aaaah, if anyone ends up wanting them, too, I have a few spare Charmanders to give away. I'm breeding a pair until I get a female, so I may end up with lots of extras, in the end. (Like most Pokemon games, obtaining starter Pokemon other than your own outside of trading is somewhat of a rarity.)
Clicking on any of the eggs or Pokemon will take you over to the site. Joining up right after getting there through of my critters gives me a referral, although, from what I am aware, there aren't any referral prizes, it just gives me a list of users I have referred. (But, they like to keep some things quiet and have users surprised, so who really knows.)
