1. You sign up by posting below! Yep, that's all you have to do. If you want to be extra helpful, provide a link to your wishlist as well.
But this isn't necessary. 2. Once the signup period is over, I will put all of the names of the people who have signed up into a hat and draw them out one at a time. Through this random draw, every person on the list will be assigned a Secret Giftee. They are that person's Secret Santa. Their job is to find that person a gift!
3. By hook or by crook, you, the Secret Santa, obtain your gift for your Secret Giftee! But because it's a secret Santa, you keep your identity a secret from that person. In other words, don't tell them who you are until you find that person's gift!
4. Send your gift to your Secret Giftee and reveal yourself! And they'll be all happy 'n' stuff. In the meantime, someone else will be your Secret Santa, and you'll receive a gift from them!
It really is that simple.
-RULES! (Be Sure You Check the Dates This Time Since We Started SUPER Late)-
1. Post in this topic to sign up. You will have until SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20th at 11:59 pm to sign up! After this date, SIGNUPS ARE CLOSED! (I'm sorry the sign-up period is so short, I want to give people a little wiggle room if they want to give their gift on Christmas Day. I reserve the right to push the date closer to Christmas if a lot of people want that.)
2. I will send you the name of your Secret Giftee in a PM. Once you receive this PM, please PM me back to confirm you have gotten it. (This instruction will be repeated in the PM itself.)
3. Once you receive your Secret Giftee, you may not tell them who they are! Remember, it's a secret!
3. You may give your giftee a gift any time after getting their name. Once you send your Giftee a gift, you MUST PM me saying that you've given them a gift. Otherwise I won't know that you've done it! And you'll get in trouble for not making the deadline...
5. The deadline for gift-giving this year is Wednesday, January 20th, 2021. You MUST send out your gifts by this date! If for some reason you feel you will not be able to make the date, PLEASE PM me and explain why! I will generally pretty forgiving when it comes to excuses, especially given how busy this time of year is, but I will totally notice if your excuse is lame! I'm literally giving you guys a month to gift, you shouldn't have any unreasonable excuses. (Also, if your Secret Santa is going to be late, I'll send you a PM telling you about it. Don't want to leave you in the dark!)
6. You MUST give your giftee SOMETHING. No skimping out! Everyone who gets something also have to give something. It's like Christmas Karma. Like past Secret Santa Rules, this counts as a contract just like breeding restrictions do. You will get in trouble if you don't send anything!
7. Please try to find your Giftee a NICE gift. I know not everyone has the same resources and not everyone can purchase a whole bunch of dazzling customs for all their friends. However, around this time of year, the mods do open up numerous "gift shops" specifically to help people find gifts! (They may or may not open customs this year but there are still options!) Seasonal Specialties giftboxes are a commonly appreciated gift! Try to keep your wishlist updated with a few easier-to-find things for the benefit of those people who can't afford mega-customs. Remember that it's ultimately the thought that counts!
8. ABSOLUTELY NO WHINING. None. No whining about the gift you got, no whining about how the person you have to gift to is not your favorite person in the world, and definitely no giving bum gifts because you don't like your Giftee! Whining results in an immediate permanent ban from ALL Secret Santas, this and any future SS's. If you feel that you have something to complain about--if you feel like your gift had no real thought put into it, or if your Secret Santa has been late (and you didn't receive a PM telling you about it from me)--then I ask that you please PM me or DM me discreetly instead of raising hullabaloo about it in the forums or Discord. We can then discuss it and decide what to do about it, depending on the nature of your problem.
9. AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ART AS A SECRET SANTA GIFT:
Evelon is lucky enough to be home to many talented artists, but like many things, art is very subjective. If you want to put art on your wishlist, PLEASE be aware that we cannot guarantee the art skills, style, or artistic choices of your Secret Santa. If you want to ask for art, know that unless you are VERY specific, there are risks associated with it and you may not get exactly what you were expecting. Please remember that ultimately, it's the thought (and effort) that counts. Your Secret Santa made you something and did it in good faith you'd like it, even if it's different than what you imagined.
If you are planning on giving art to someone and making it your main gift, I recommend you only do this if your giftee specifically requests art and that you put a good amount of effort into it. Make it colored, and if you make a traditional art piece, try to use a proper scanner to upload it so the image quality is clean. If they don't list specific characters they want drawn, poke through their pen and RP history to see what pets they've used most. If you give art as a side present, you can be a bit messier, but still try to get the nicest-quality image you can so your SS can admire it.
At the end of the day, remember that this event is about making people happy. Do you best to make your giftee happy and remember that your Secret Santa tried to do the same for you.
10. Freezair really liked code words and I see no reason not to include one. It's the little things right? <3 I won't boot you for not including one but for fun's sake, try working the word "tinsel" into your posts this year!
