Return to Gossip and Chatter

Help me price art, please? / Chatter about digital art :3

I'm not sure on where this would go, so 'Gossip and Chatter' it is. And two different subjects in the same thread, at that. I have only done one photo-manipulation, but I'd like to do more; what projects I have in mind, I just have not found the perfect stock-photos for yet. But I got the idea, that I might be able to sell photo-manipulations as commissions. I'd be able to practise and hopefully raise money and/or get what I'd want :3

Of course, a lot of things I wouldn't be able to do (can't quite do Evelon-pets ^^; ) and there will be rules about the stock-photos used (only those which the creator allows for commercial use, Google is not for stock-photos and so). But I'm not so sure on what to price them. What I'd like would be money (either sent to Baal for use, but preferably to my PayPal since I want to spend on MML too), KeyStones and I'd trade off a photo-manip for one out of a few selected Kuhna's I'd love to own.

So, how much would you suppose I should take for photo-manipulations of people's mostly humanoid roleplay-characters? Considering I'm just starting out and my first attempt was this; http://josie-weirdo.deviantart.com/art/ ... r-43591078 ?

The second subject in question; talk about digital art in general. Do you do it, do you like looking at it, which tutorials are your favourites and what art-programs do you prefer? :3

Well, since you aren't using any real material/media to make the picture, and you're not making prints (I assume), you're basically pricing your time and creative energy invested in the picture. That's hard to do - but, how much do you think one piece should be worth? I can help you, but what do you think is fair, first?

Also, think of your market (Evelon users)- and how much money they may (or may not) have.

Oh, digital art. XD It's my preferred media right now. No mess, no setting up, and you don't have to go out any buy supplies.

I use Photoshop, mostly out of familiarity with the program, and you can make cool brushes with it. I was looking into GIMP a while ago, but it sounded like it didn't recieve pressure sensitivity signals from a tablet.

There's an example of my (digital) work, in case you were wondering. :) (I like to show off, lol.)

Only, one main problem I have with digital art is that I can't create temperature depth very well. It's just, with acrylics, I really feel like I'm creating depth with color. With digital art, it's harder. And the colors don't "mix" the same way in Photoshop as they do with real paint. :P
