It says that you can have 4 passive traits, 3 battle traits, and 5 medical traits. I don't get it because you can only have 7 personal traits in all.

Can Healing Touch be used in battle?

Of course~ Any Trait that has a description in red indicates what its effect(s) is in battle. :3 Passive Traits aren't any useful in Battles, hence why they don't have anything in red next to their basic description.

A quick question - if I add a pet color trait to, say, my Dreamsnare Battleheart, does that count as one of my seven selectable traits, or is it more of an "inherent" trait?

If you add the trait for its color, it counts as a racial trait.
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go...

I'm filling the cracks that ran through the door
And kept my mind from wandering
Where it will go...

And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong
I'm right
Where I belong I'm right
Where I belong.
See the people standing there
Who disagree
And never win
And wonder why they don't get in my door.

If your pet learns one of the special medical traits (say, from the Medicai College) would that count as one of the 5 personal traits?
I was a {Rabid Squirrel!!!! @_@} who was not really rabid at all because squirrels don't get rabies. If it weren't for training, I'd still be one too.

Since Medicai College (and therefore, those Traits) is unavailable at the moment, and because Traits are undergoing a revision, you don't need to worry about that right now. :3

If a pet had the Shape Shifter trait, would that mean it didn't need the Human Form trait to become antro or human?

Shape Shifter is for forms other than human, I believe. So, say, if you wanted your pet to have one form as a Gorgeel and one form as a Khalmar, that would be the trait you gave it. Or if it turned into something else non-human.

Okay, so regular (non-custom) pets get their racial traits as well as seven personal traits, and of the personal traits, there is a maximum of five medical traIts, four passive traits, and three battle traits, right?

Correct. But Kodai is fixing to revamp the system, so keep in mind that any traits you pick now may not "stick."

Two quick questions:
Neither racial traits nor color traits count toward personal trait count, correct?
What the HECK is a custom pet?
