[* Kuhna Raffle #2: Ancient Set!

Postby Jaykobell » 03/29/2014 1:06 PM

The buzzing of excitement and the cheerful conversations of the Evelonians all around were almost overwhelming. Kuhna merchandise everywhere, Kuhna talks everywhere, even Kuhnas everywhere! Of course, with the Evelon cat breedable being the center of the news, it wasn't surprising to see them rejoicing in the festivities as well. What would the festivities and games be without the actual mascots and stars of the show?

People were excited over the raffles, and the lines that adorned the booths were rather ridiculous. They went fast, though; you didn't get a chance to really say or ask anything at the booth directly, and that was specifically so the lines could be manageable. What if the lines got so big that they didn't have time to enter everybody? That would be a complete disaster. As a result, a different booth had been set up for anyone who had questions about the raffles. Those who did try to talk and ask for details at the raffle booths were quickly redirected there.

The second booth, though, had a bigger and longer line than the others. What was taking so long? Given enough time, however, your turn eventually came.
Image
The one who welcomed you was a small albino boy who wore a simple white shirt — although it was adorned with small stripes here and there. He looked thin and small, somewhere in his early twenties, perhaps? Even his voice was a little high-pitched still, although nothing too out of the ordinary or to the point of mistaking him for a woman. He wore a small pair of glasses, and his already-short hair was tied in a small, barely noticeable ponytail.

"Welcome to the Kuhna festivities!" he greeted you with a bright smile, one that matched the joy and happiness of the albino woman who handled the first booth a little ways away. "Here, take the promotional merchandise we're giving out; don't be shy!" he said as he pushed a Kuhna pin, a poster, and a small Kuhna plush right towards you. Those who didn't want them could just give them away to whoever wanted to hoard them, or whoever hadn't gotten a chance to participate in the raffles when they happened.

"Isn't this exciting? I was always fond of the Kuhnas, but they kind of lost their appeal over time, so they stopped visiting the towns. Did you know that Kuhnas are very sociable creatures? You'd think that they would rather stay alone and mind their own business, since they're cats, but they're actually very attached to humans! I think that's why there are so many here now, despite how people used to forget about them for the last few years." Here was the reason why this line was longer than the others; if the boy spent his time telling the participants Kuhna facts and other such things, it wasn't a surprise that it took so much more time to get everything done and over with.

After a while, though, the boy stopped himself. "Sorry, sorry! I got carried away a little," he apologized, but no sheepish smile or feeling of guilt seemed to bother him. He was just a very jolly guy; not much really got him down. "Anyway, here's all you need for this particular raffle!" he added as he got back on track, handing you a ticket and a pamphlet. "The pamphlet shows you what you can win with this particular ticket. Remember that there's a whole bunch of other raffles and activities for you to check out, so don't hesitate to get out there and have fun!"

Kail shoved a hand through his hair, trying to keep it out of his eyes. the booth was ran by a frail looking man but he seemed to be just fine on his own. "I'd like to enter the raffle please." Kail said smiling slightly. he didn't care much for the people flocking around him. their chatter made it easy for him to get lost and sidetracked. at least he was able to stay focused enough to stand in the lines around the booths. everyone was very excited for these kuhna, as was Kail of course, he was beginning to feel claustrophobic though.

The second time in a week Myala found herself outside the sturdy walls of the Library, though this time she wasn't as frightened as she had been in the medical building. Aldis was waving among the legs of passing beings though he was no more amused than he ever was, grumbled something Myala couldn't hear as they neared the stand. "Oh how wonderful, a festival for such lovely little creatures." She beamed back at the boy while Aldis hoped up on the flat of the stand and glared over his glasses. "I would love a ticket." Myala told him as she read over the offered material. Aldis had opted not to speak during this outing just gave a none to feline humph at her and shook his head slowly, before glaring at someone behind Myala who was still lingering after picking up her ticket. "Come on Aldis, I want to see what else might be around here while we wait."

Bottles smashed, I raised my hand
How can you all even stand?
And why is there joy in this poison? Oh
Faking smiles and confidence
Driving miles to capture this excitement
I can't take anymore

You're never gonna get it
I'm a hazard to myself
I'll break it to you easy
This is hell, this is hell
You're looking and whispering
You think I'm someone else
This is hell, yes
I am in hell

[Hypolight] [Ekkoh] [Pulsation]

Today was a prefect day for an outing, so at least Hypolight would say. Likewise, so would young Ekkoh, although the child's father was certainly less than pleased with the crowd surrounding them. Of course, as a father, Pulsation could hardly withstand his daughter's begging and pleading of, "Oh, please, Daddy, can we go to the Kuhna festival?" It had taken her a few times of repeating of it, but he'd broken down flawlessly, as he usually did.

Pulsation was never good with crowds, or wandering around at all, spending most of his life sitting in corners, as out of the way as possible. He'd developed more than just a problem being social, it border lining a phobia of people, only a handful being exempt. He'd made leaps and bounds of improvements when his daughter was born, being able to go out as long as he was beside her and Hypolight, the person which he would have called his most precious friend.

The trio walked hand in hand, Ekkoh situated right in the middle, holding onto her father's hand and Auntie Elle's hand, as she gazed around enthusiastically, although the colorful words she saw floating all through the air as everyone spoke them was making her a little dizzy. Hypolight matched the child's enthusiasm, while Pulsation tried his best to put on, well, anything but a frown. It wasn't quite a smile, but he was doing all right.

"Oh, Daddy, can I enter one of the raffles?" Ekkoh eventually asked, hopping up and down, as she released the woman's hand to point out a line in front of one of the many booths. Pulsation's gaze shifted toward his daughter and, after a moment of  deliberation, he simply nodded. Not a moment after that, she grabbed the one hand she had released and practically hauled the adults into the line to wait.

When it was finally their turn, it was the child that stepped up, her Kuhna ears, present even in her humanoid form, perked up. "Excuse me, Mister, I would like to enter the raffle," she declared.  With that, she listened well as he spoke, and her eyes lit up when he pushed the merchandise forward, grabbing it up with her continued enthusiasm. "Thank you!"

Oh, another booth, eh?  Spring couldn't help but find her way over to the second booth in the pattern.  And she'd always adored the Ancient Kuhna's flames! They were so vibrant, and the marks were so intrinsic upon their coats.

"I'd love to enter this raffle, too!" she exclaimed eagerly.  Ancients had always been so mysterious, and now there were rumors that their offspring could breed!
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

"Human", Rag'n'Bone Man

With an uneasy feeling he had been followed slowly lifting Anoushka glanced through the new booths in the Contest hub with this one in particular catching his eye. All of the little Kuhna things were rather adorable, he had to admit, and the small Albino boy was hawking some free plushies! Of course he waited his turn, happily looking over the contest rules.

A whole set of colorful kittens? Who wouldn't want those?! "Not all dogs hate cats, you know." He offered with a smile as he wrote his name down, signing the papers. With his freebies in hand he took a seat nearby, waiting the results.

Deliorah, the Jailer Lakuhndra, had sent her to “do her dirty work,” as it was. Simpkin didn’t see why; Minerva, the tide Kuhna, and Deliorah herself were perfectly capable. Why did she have to do everything for them? Waving her little tails, she skulked over to the booth, passing the Jailer Lakuhndra who was still watching the first, with the little Kuhnas manning it, with a wary gaze. “I’d like to enter the raffle, please.”

I love adventurous tales like that. That uplifting feeling that comes from seeing unknown lands and the knowledge that you came across—nothing can replace it! It opens a path from which self-confidence, experience, and important friendships—from the sharing of life or death situations—are born! But hearing it just isn’t the same. I want to create my own magnificent story!

A great adventure!

He'd been brought here under somewhat confusing circumstances. Some time ago he'd been collared and dragged out of his homeland and shoved into a house belonging to someone he'd been told to think of as the enemy--she didn't seem at all threatening to him, but there had been no time for argument. And then he'd been kept in a cellar for several weeks, and now he'd been sent off on an errand. One almost entirely incomprehensible to him, too. Something about...cats? And him receiving a name, there was definitely something about that.

When he skimmed the pamphlet he thought he might understand. Such lovely creatures, it was no wonder there was such a long line at this stand. He thanked the boy for the ticket with the closest thing to a smile he could muster, and cast about for someone who could explain all this to him more clearly.

What are you looking at?

Today was a special day indeed. Galatea had heard word as soon as Auri had since they'd been together at the time the news had reached them (as they often were these days). She had known right there and then just how much this meant to her feline friend - after all, their home had only grown less and less populated over the years as the Kuhnas had slowly found new homes. However, Galatea knew that Auri was one who would never leave, and for that she was glad. She didn't know what she would do without her closest friend, but at the same time, she was saddened by the fact that Auri was growing lonelier by the day.

She understood perfectly when her friend had dashed out to make sure that she didn't miss out on this event, and had soon followed. After all, she figured the least she could do was to help ensure that she maximized their chances for Auri to have more companions. Sure, it might take some of the time she would be spending with her away, but Galatea knew that it would be worth it in the end. For a soul as sweet as Auri, she deserved to be surrounded by those who loved her. "I'd like to partake in this raffle, if I could, please," she said to the man handling the event, offering a small smile. "It would mean the world to my friend."

Amantia was surprisingly awake and out of the library long enough to pick up a cup of coffee and take a look around town. It hadn't taken her long to notice a large crowd around what seemed to be a raffle. Hmm... what were they raffling off this time? She yawned and approached closer, noticing that they were for a set of bright and colorful kuhnas. Her eyes lit up and her heart pumped just a bit faster. What a coincidence, she was just looking into this strange breed on Evelon.

So why not enter for a whole set of them? Besides, they were beautiful, and she loved cats. Perhaps one of the few animals she could keep in her apartment even. "Hello little one, I would love to join in for this raffle please, and thank you," she smiled at him and stifled another yawn. She should just enjoy her coffee and try to wake up now.

Arkiel was drawn to the festival by a rather bizarre sound, a chorus of feline mewls so great and energetic sounding that it was impossible to ignore. He couldn't fathom what was going on, but once he arrived on the scene, the answer was as clear as day. There was a massive Kuhna festival taking place, and many members of the celebrated species were walking everywhere. The mage had to make his away around extremely carefully so he wouldn't step on any of the tiny cats' tails.

As he navigated the busy festival, he came upon a ridiculously long line leading up to a booth that had an advertisement for a raffle pinned to it. Running the booth was a young albino boy who distinctly reminded him of a certain someone. Could he be the son of the famous tactician Armatas tried to hire a while back? Intrigued, Arkiel decided to go stand in the line.

When it finally got to his turn, he greeted the boy with a respectful dip of his head, tipping his hat every so slightly. "Hello," he said. "Are you, by any chance, Negative's son? You have a very...colorful event going on here."

After a moment's pause, he spoke again. "I suppose I will enter the raffle. Those Ancient Kuhnas look quite lovely."

Sori could never pass up on anything that had to do with her favorite Kuhna species. And with her newfangled electronic gizmos in tow, the wait was hardly noticeable. As the people ahead of her finished, she dipped her Wynd Kuhna-themed fedora to the boy, silently remarking how much he reminded her of a lab assistant. "Count me in," she said, before making off with her loot. Finally, they had returned.

The King beneath the mountains,
The King of carven stone,
The lord of silver fountains
Shall come into his own!

His crown shall be upholden,
His harp shall be restrung,
His halls shall echo golden
To songs of yore re-sung.

The streams shall run in gladness,
The lakes shall shine and burn,
All sorrow fail and sadness
At the Mountain-king's return!

The small black shape scurried rather quickly through the crowds. She had checked out the other stands, but none of them seemed to offer anything good. She didn't want some random mystery creature that she knew nothing about, and despite the strange abilities of the Elders, only one would do her no good. And the "originals" were just too plain.

However, she soon stopped at this booth. The image of the Ancients, with blazing flames of various colors, leapt into her eyes, and she quickly hopped onto the desk, facing the boy.

"Ticket!" she screeched, her voicebox giving off a distinctly male sound. "Need ticket, yes? Good Kuhnas. Good fire. Good, good."
Crossing my heart
Open wide
You're my crystal and clover
All of me
Honestly
Is dedicated to hold you

Swear to God
Double knot
What would you do if I stole you tonight? (Ahh ahh)
Why waste time? (Ahh ahh)

'Cause the world goes on without us
It doesn't matter what we do
All silhouettes with no regrets
When I'm melting into you
'Cause I belong in your arms
I belong in your arms

How many of these raffles were there!? Obito growled as he approached yet another one of these ridiculous raffles booths and quickly read over the rules. The same as the last one, of course. He couldn't believe he was out wasting his time on these stupid cats, but he needed to get in good with Shoto, the man was starting to question him again. The best way to shut him up would be to give him some gifts and pretend to shower him with affection. "One ticket," he snapped.

You can't wake up, this is not a dream
You're part of a machine, you are not a human being
With your face all made up, living on a screen
Low on self-esteem, so you run on gasoline

I think there's a flaw in my code
(Oh, ooh-oh, ooh-oh, oh)
These voices won't leave me alone
Well, my heart is gold and my hands are cold

Are you deranged like me?
Are you strange like me?
Lighting matches just to swallow up the flame like me?
Do you call yourself a fucking hurricane like me?
Pointing fingers 'cause you'll never take the blame like me?

This had to be the most pathetic thing that Rheiss had ever seen. All this celebration over such a small creature - it was a complete and utter waste. Why had Rheiss never been given a festival in his honor? No one even bothered to visit his temple to worship him anymore! He was a god, yet he received far less than these weak creatures which were rapidly regaining popularity.

Still, there was possibly something to be gained out of this whole event. While most of the raffles seemed to offer mere trifles as prizes, one seemed to stand out to him. There would only be one winner, but that one person would be winning a complete set of kuhnas. Ancients, they were called. Something considered Ancient had to be valuable, correct? And if he had the whole set of them, all the better!

He had hoped to quickly snag a ticket and then find an isolated corner to wait in, but to his great dismay the one giving out the tickets seemed to want to babble on and on. "Are you done?" Rheiss snarled cruelly the moment the boy ceased talking. He snatched the ticket away, nodding in satisfaction. "This is what I came for. You'd better hope I win, boy. If I do not receive a prize, I'll be holding you personally responsible for not delivering the winning ticket into my hands."
