Rules:

Evelon is now looking for two things of which you can submit. On one hand, we're looking for something horribly, ADORABLY er... adorable? Big, googly eyes, giant head-sort of thing. On the other, we're also wanting another 'hybrid' pet, a mix of something with something else, whether it be something you make up entirely or having parts of real-life animals. This is what we'll be looking for in your submissions, one or the other! Now, let's see what you guys got. ;3

You may write a written entry, but art is preferred (it doesn't have to be colored art), and we have to have at least 4 entries for this contest to be valid.

War brings many strange things upon the lands. During the war between the Imperials and Purines, there was quite an odd occurance at the Mardes Shrine. Because of this a few creatures have been spotted around the area lately....

Siacrista
Pronounced Sea-ah-cree-st-ah

The Siacrista is a large, seemingly 'aquatic' creature from what we gather. It can oddly breath under the water, and swim just as if it were soaring through the skies. But why doesn't it have gills? Why can it breath on land as well? Well a portal to another realm had been opened at the Mardes Shrine, and when a few ventured forth to find their lost friend they were confronted by one of these large 'canine' creatures that came from the 'sky', which seemed to be a vast ocean that was somehow floating above them. This was the first known sighting of the Siacrista.

We have yet to find too much about these creatures as they are rather hard to come by. We believe that the hole torn between the two realms back during the war caused the threads between these realms to be rather thin in this area. Either that, or possibly some other being is opening portals for them. Either way, the Siacrista don't seem to be able to open the portals for themselves.

The smallest of these creatures found was 7' at the shoulders, and easily tore quite a few Turkezilla apart. The spiky 'fins' along their bodies seem to be poisonous to the touch, much like their fangs. We wouldn't be surprised to see one of these creatures try to take on a Hollowheart in battle. I wouldn't advise trying to take one in as a pet.

The Kirund is a vicious creature that seems to be lured in by the faintest scent of blood. It is thought that they need to eat raw meat and such just for the blood, as they lose far too much of their own to sustain themselves. Rotting from the inside out, these creatures seem unable to die without being delt a death blow by another being though. The first one spotted, at the Mardes Shrine, had the scales torn from its back and still kept on fighting. Pain seems to be nothing to them, as if they can't feel such a thing.

The scales that cover a good percent of their body make for a good defense. It seems, so long as they haven't caught the scent of blood, these creatures might be a bit more docile then the Siacrista. They also seem to appear less often, but then again who would send out a rotting creature to do their dirty work? If one manages to get a good hold on one, they are fairly easy to tame. Medium sized by Evelon standards, I still wouldn't advise keeping many of these creatures around your house.

I know EXACTLY what I'm submitting to this. Now I just have to draw it a painfully adorable pic-a-ture and submit it. And the great thing is, it's both a hybrid AND adorable! Actually, I think I'm gonna submit two! BOTH adorable hybrids!

Name: Fratade
About Name: Frog, cat, shade ;P
Behavior: The Fratade is a primarily aquatic creature, rarely stepping foot on land. They could live on land if they wanted to, but it would require a lot of adaptation, as they can't survive without water for too long. They live at the depths of the ocean, and the only overly bright colour found on them is on their markings, which do glow to shed a little light around their dark habitat. They are very solitary creatures, living only in small families. They actually are carnivores, but only eat small fish by swimming up out from the depths to get a huge stash, which normally lasts 2 months at least. On submarine expeditions, it is considered bad luck to have a Fratade cross your path, similar to the old superstition about black cats.

Name: Doru

Description: What a strange creature this is! The Doru seems to be half-creature, half-toy. It even seems to be falling apart in some places. The Doru was rumored to have been created by some freakish accident. Nevertheless, if you look past its strange appearance, you will find that it is actually a faithful friend and would follow you to the ends of the Lands. The heart-shaped path sewn on its chest is rumored to be its true 'heart'. It's said that if you strike it, the Doru will become lifeless.

Diet: The Doru is quite willing to eat anything, really. There is almost nothing you can't feed this creature!


Name: Okibi

Description: The Okibi is as big as a human's palm, but it is very dangerous. It can freely control fire, and, if feeling threatened, can unleash dangerous jets of flame. However, an Okibi will not harm those it trusts or are close to it. The jewel embedded on the Okibi's chest is said to be a restraint to its true savage nature. If one were to break the jewel, disaster was to come and it is said that the Okibi would transform into a hideous monster. So far, there has been no evidence of any occurence...

Diet: The Okibi is only willing to eat meat. This makes it quite dangerous as it is willing to try and cook its human owner...

Alright, folks! Here's my REAL entry. Everyone meet: The Flutterslug and the HamMer!



The Flutterslug (Top Left): Far, far away, in a strange, unknown dimension, a scientist with more grant money than sense heard tell from his teenaged niece that "animals with wings" were all the rage on online pet sites and in video games. Taking her advice to heart, he set out to design "the ultimate pet." So what did he use his mad genetics to stick a pair of wings on? A banana slug! Unfortunately, his niece neglected to tell him that generally, people only went for "cool" winged animals, like tigers and wolves. He was the laughingstock of teenaged girls everywhere! Heartbroken, he used his standard Mad Scientist Portal Device and dumped his entire colony of Flutterslugs into another dimension. That dimension? Evelon! The tropical Flutterslugs took quite happily to the dense jungles of Barakka, eating delicious tropical fruits and lounging about in branches. Their bright colors soon attracted the attention of Evelonians everywhere, who adored their "weirdness" as much as anything else, and the happy, cheerful creatures spread.

Can you imagine no one wanted these little guys? They're so cheerful and happy! They can be trained to do tricks, just like dogs--and they're loyal, too! They seem to be able to get along with everything, from the sulkiest Sulkuhna to the most morose Angst Ball to the spazziest Batti to the toughest Battleheart. Just remember one thing when keeping a Flutterslug--low sodium diets only!

The HamMer (lower right): Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a manatee? No, it's the HamMer! Lurking deep within the sea, the HamMers frolic and play, swimming in circles in whirlpools and eating delicious kelp seeds. These highly socialable animals love to talk and chatter, especially with other HamMers. Prospective HamMer keepers would be advised to adopt several of these creatures, lest they grow sick from loneliness. (It is also not advised that they confuse HamMers with REAL hamsters, who are highly anti-social and may harm one another if kept in close proximity.) HamMers have a unique language all their own, not shared by any other major pet species--it is a creole of Human and Petese, with grunts and squeals combined with Human-esque words. Certain words of it can be easily understood by a human, such as "gifgif" for "gift," or "*snarl*chomp" for "fight." Others are very pet-like and may have no clear meaning for humans.

No one knows where specifically the HamMer come from, as the HamMer society itself tends to keep to the very deep seafloor, where humans are unlikely to tread. Though certain aquatic pets, such as the Gorgeel, are capable of going to these very deep depths, they don't seem to say much about what they see down there. Could the HamMer be hiding some kind of secret?

Oh, having read the last contest post: If you use any of my ideas you are free to change them, blah blah blah. The only thing I'm especially attached to (that wouldn't involve making the pet a completely different pet all together XD) is the fact that the Flutterslug is a banana slug, but even that can be changed at your descretion.

Pronunciation: Mah-toh-k-nay-ah
Description: Gifted with supernatural abilities, the Matoknea is a loving creature that, once its collar is put on, will never waver in loyalty from its owner. It will gladly do almost anything for its owner, for the simple cost of a scratch behind the ears. It acts much like a cat, but has an odd ability to reanimate corpses. It will only do so on its owner's orders, though.
Habitat: City/Urban Environments
Behavior: Very obedient, intelligent. Protective of its owner.

Not really a hybrid of anything. ^^; Really, it's just some sort of rodent/feline thing. It reminds me of something Riokri drew on DA and Rio-oki from Tenshi-Muyo and.. a ferret? x3

(4)Origins: Their origins are unkown as these creatures have only recently awoken from their latest 1000 year hibernation.
(5)Handling and Uses: They eat fruits, nuts, and fish. Their bones are hollow and easily break if not put on a calcium rich diet. They love cream and milk, so that's not a big issue. They love to sleep, play intellectual games such as chess, checkers and the like, and to discuss deep topics of conversation. However, they are reasonable and will back off if they touch on a nasty topic, but also hold grudges if proven wrong in a debate.
(6)Genreal and Neat Facts: They don't seem too "chatty" as they don't discuss their history with humans. However, they are perfectly content to simply ride around on your shoulder and enjoy seeing how the world has changed, often giving their own input of what they think of it all. Also, they're thieves. Anything precious or valuable will oftentimes end up stolen and sold for a pretty penny within the hour of it's misplacement. However, all proceeds go to the original owner! So they obviously have a conscience.

Yeah.. it's weird. FYI, it's a turtle-dragon hybrid. Or.. lockness monster with turtle.. whichever sounds better to you. I thought this up one night in the IRC, with much help to Baal who was simply chattering away with everyone. x3 Mostly about her workload. So, I of course zoned off into my own little world and thought along this chain: Valentines is coming up. Creat a Pet contest is coming up. Evelon has no.. Turtles! Who likes turtles? o.O TICKY! @_@ Scary turtle? That's nice? YUSH!

It's a creature with a rabbit head with cat ears, a cat's front paws, and a rabbit's hind legs. It has a tail that looks like a cat's, but is fluffy like a rabbit's!

Name:Moi
Colors: The body will be a lively green and the top fins will be purple, bottom fins saphire. The eyes are to be a green.
Appearence in General: They are about the size of a pinky. A very very dangerous creature though if you touch it. THey are shaped like a small snake but at the end of the tail it is split in two with another fin flowing out through that. The mouth is never seen but the eyes will always look happy. Very Happy. The fins are long and flowy. Also if you want to se their mood their glow around them will change. IF the color is green that means they're happy, blue sad, grey moody, red angery, and prismatic for I'll-put-on-a-happy-face-but-I'll-destroy-you-later (lol).
Personality:They are very sensitive, so no angery words around them. They are somewhat loyal(I'd rate them a 3/10) and have a very vain attitude. But if you can create a bond they are the most lovable creatures on earth.

Colors: Copper body with gold "wings" and silver lines.
Personality: A very humble and shy creature. This creature makes a wonderful pet. They don't get into trouble and try to make everyone feel okay. Extremely loyal but they show emotions from their eyes and wings. If their wings are flowy they are happy...and well you just have to observe for the rest of the emotions. They are water creatures and are kinda like flying fish. They have their wings so they can hover above the water.
