Alright, I don't have art, but I'm taking a shot at this...

The Orobar (M)
Stat suggestion:
Loyalty: 1
Toughness: 10
Exploration: 4
Endurance: 14
Intelligence: 5
Righteousness: 3
Darkness: 3
Fame: 4
Passive Traits: Expert Swimmer, Self-Sufficient
Battle Traits: Bestial Hide, Boar's Ferocity, Great Bite

In appearance, Orobar resemble crosses between a crocodile and a fish. Specifically, a trout. The body is crocodile-like, with a long muscular tail and short legs that sprawl normally. However, the head is that of a trout, and a the typical pattern of the fish decorates the body. In addition, the scales are like a trout's, a fin running down from the base of the neck to the base of the tail replaces the crocodile ridge, and the tail is more flattened from side to side. The feet have longer toes than a crocodile (although they look the same otherwise), and are webbed. They also have a more humped back than a crocodile.
Orobar have gills where you'd expect them to be (on the neck), but that doesn't mean they can't breathe air. In fact, they are amphibious.
They are fearsome carnivores, having a mouth full of sharp, sharklike teeth. They eat mainly fish (or Kalamarei, if given the opportunity), but their favorite dish is land-living ungulates. They employ a similar hunting style to a crocodile, lying in wait for an unwary victim, then lunging and clamping down on the victim, and then dragging the victim into the water to drown. Unlike crocodiles, however, orobar don't roll to tear their victims apart, but rather use their teeth for the job.
They are very fickle beasts, and don't seem to trust even each other. Not to mention they're also very territorial, and often fights break out between individuals who are too close for comfort. The only time this ceases is during the breeding season, and then it is replaced by even-more-vicious fights for mating rights. Females will fight to get a male they like, males do the same thing for the females.
Orobar don't take very well to their owners either, but the best thing to do to win over one of these hybrid's loyalty is to provide them is with a big supply of meat. They aren't choosy, so any meat will work.

And now for submission #2...

The Prake (H)
Stat suggestion:
Loyalty: 0
Toughness: 14
Exploration: 6
Endurance: 15
Intelligence: 7
Righteousness: 0
Darkness: 12
Fame: 6
Passive Traits: Controlled Respiration, Expert Swimmer, Malevolence
Battle Traits: Constricting Body, Controlled Immolation, Great Bite, Pyro, Vorpal Strike

Prake are fish-serpents of massive size. Their heads are the fearsome-looking guise of a male sockeye salmon during the spawning season, and from here the body turns into the serpentine shape of a land snake. Their backs are slightly humped near the head. Their heads are green, and the main body color is a deep crimson. Other than a fin running down the front half of the back, they are completely lacking of fins.
Prake cannot breathe on land, bearing fish-like gills, although they can live on land for about a hour. They are fearsome carnivores, taking whatever flesh they can.
They are master of both water and fire, and can breathe fire like a dragon. They are not to be trusted at any rate.
It is said that the Prake will have some hand in the Apocaylpse...

I'm deciding to take a shot at this, and my pen decided to not to do its job when I inked it. The second will be up later.

The Scordrake
This bizarre creature is about the size of your hand. It has the translucent wings of a dragonfly, the strong sharp claws and dangerous stinger of a scorpion. It is extremely fast, and very agile.
There large compound eyes allow them to see from every angle, and their claws can give out quite a pinch.
These creatures are also quite aggressive, attacking even though they are not provoked, but, they will only attack if you step within their territory, which is approximately the size of a housing block.
The venom in their needle-like teeth is only as dangerous as a bee sting. The stinger on the tail however, can inject as much venom as a rattler could. They live either solitary, or in pairs.

They are also rumored to be able to imitate human speech.

Bakhimiki

The Bakhimiki, a proud ancient race of birds who are sworn to protect.
Thousands of years ago, the Bakhimiki were exiled to live in the desert, for failing to serve their original master.
As the last of their master was swept away by the dust, they were freed from exile, but were dying.

The Bakhimiki do not eat, but gain energy and life from serving, and with no one to serve, they would slowly starve to death.
There are few rebels that have learnt of a new way to survive and thus, escape the bondage to a human or pet, but the way to escape bondage isn't easy and only the most rebellious kind would ever try it.
The way to escape was this. To give up your Ankh. The small amulet that the Bakhimiki wore around their necks acted like a double edged sword, it gave them powers and bounded them to an eternal slavery.

The Bakhimiki are guardians, one you could trust your life with. The Ankh gives them powers to protect, to serve. With it they have superhuman strength, farsight and the ability of mind speech.
The Eye of Horus that is on their right eye, also grants them additional powers. Through their right eye, they can 'see' their charge, and through it help protect them. They also use it for spying purposes.
Their beaks can make shrill whistling noises that can be understood by other creatures of beak and feather, but over time, they have learnt the art of mind speech so that they can communicate with human.

A recount of the life of a Bakhimiki servant, that had lived through the fall.

"We were the proud, the noble, the protectors.
We were the Bakhimiki, protectors of princes and kings.
We were assigned to watch over the ancient rulers of the long forgotton race of Leaders in Wilt'no.

And we failed.

It was long ago, I remember it well, like it was only yesterday.

We were serving our master. We called him master, because we were his slaves and he was our master, and to give us his true name could prove to be dangerous. There were only six of us, sworn to serve and protect, and not to court with one another.
But, we were growning slack in our duties.
One day, the master was going for a walk, two of our kind were in charge of protecting him.
He had knelt down to a small oasis to drink.
While the two guardians had their backs turned, the master was bitten by a snake.
Quickly, the two Bakhimiki carried him back to the house.
It was only a small snake so the master survived, but in our failure to our duty, he punished us by sending all six of us into exile.

In exile, we had nothing but the ankh's we wear around our necks, over the collars made of jade and howlite and gold.
These ankh's, our life force, the giver of our powers, they helped us to survive. With them, we could move massive boulders, we could see far, further than an eagle, and we could use mind speech.
In exile, the downside of the ankh didn't count.
But as well as a blessing, it was a curse.
By doning the ancient artifact, we shorten our life span and bind ourselves into an eternal slavery.
If we do not serve, we will die a slow and painful death.

For one thousand years we dwelled in the desert until there was change.
We sensed it coming.

It was like breaking out of a sand tomb after many years of being encased in it.
As soon as the feeling was over, the feeling of hunger had sunk its claws into our bellies.

There was a brief argument, one I knew would be bottled away and brought up later.
The beginning of the schism.

Most of our kind wanted to do what we had been made to do, to protect. But there are always a handful of rebels who want to do their own thing.
We argued amoungst ourselves, and occasionally fighting broke out. In the end, we split up, each to our own ways, I had always sided with the ones who wanted to serve.

Somehow, the fallen ones had found a way to live without suffering from our curse, but the rest of us went to find charges, people who either needed or wanted protecting."

Rough Idea of Bakhimiki's clothes
http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff12 ... d_free.png

Stare in the darkness
Are you scared? Are you free?
I can be fair or a monster
Tell me now, which one do you need?

I can feel teeth tear into me
Rip me to pieces, rock me to sleep
I can feel eyes staring at me
Getting uneasy, ready to feed
I can feel teeth

All right... I seriously put way too much effort into this. Like. Seriously.

Image

I don't have a name for it yet... But... I've always called it "dragon-turtle." Now that I look at it, I think a name starting with B would be appropriate.

So anyways, I was thinking about it as either a wild critter or a Purity, simply because it fits wild critter best but we need more Purities.

So they hatch from eggs... About the size of the base bone of an average male's middle finger... The eggs look and feel like they were made from gems/jewels and simply carved into the shape. However, due to the rarity and expensive nature of these eggs, carving jewels in that particular shape and size has been discontinued. DTs (as I will call them until they get a name) can wait in their egg for eternity, but the hatching process is rigorous and demanding, and once started, you can't stop. If a DT in the process of hatching (or incubating as the case may be) is exposed to room temperature air, it will die.

So... I guess you're wondering what exactly this rigorous incubating process is? Well... The egg must be put down the shirt (and bra) of a humanoid female... Preferably one who's been bundled up for cold weather. The egg must remain there for two whole months, with no pauses and no breaks. So females who are chosen to carry DT eggs are pampered nearly beyond belief; they have their food picked for them so that they don't get sick, they simply have to sit or lay down while someone washes their hair... It's the kind of treatment you don't expect of anybody. Luckily they're still free to pursue their exercise routines and suchnot as long as they don't get too cold.

When the DT is born, it is born looking rather like a small lizard with turtle legs and curly hair. (see above) It must be incubated further for another month while its shell grows, and when it is ready to see the open air, it undergoes a gigantic growth spurt in a very short time, growing to about the height of a cat. Stereotypically, they burst forth from the female's shirt regally... But more recently, they have been removed from the shirt at the precise time when they are able to handle the air but not so big they stretch or rip the shirt.

... SO ABOUT THE DT ITSELF.

At... Um... "shell-birth," they look as seen above. The turtle on their back is a plush, either grown from the fibers of the DT's own being or supplied by the "mother."

As they grow (to monstrous proportions-- think elephant or bigger--), they become coated with a sticky substance that is constantly coming from their pores.... Really... The substance only sticks to keystones. Hence, adult wild DTs are considered good luck, and to own a DT and raise it (or simply own it) is considered one of the highest honors one can have.

About every month, the first DT; the one that laid the first clutch and started everything; makes a pit stop in Idalani Falls to take a bath. Standing under the falls as the water mercilessly pounds down, every keystone the Mother DT collected is washed away into the pool at the base of the falls. The mother DT is a very pretty gold color all the way around, though all of her children are colored as seen above. (:

As all the wealth is accumulated on growing, or adult DTs, the stuffed turtle on their back (which never grows) slowly turns into solid gold... They keystones and gold the DTs pick up seems to meld with the plush. When a DT is killed, the now solid gold turtle falls off and is able to be sold in the black market for a very high price. (respectable merchants know not to buy the gold turtle from a DT)

DTs do not eat, nor do they age past adult... If the mother DT never dies, it's doubtful her offspring die.

See? What did I tell you? WAY too much effort.

I drew this guy a few weeks ago in my art class. I honestly have no idea what inspired him, but here you go: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z96/ ... MPT881.jpg

It has no name, but for some reason I keep getting a letter "S" when I try to come up with one...

It's not really a dragon (I always think of dragons with legs), but it's not a snake either, hence the wings and mane thing. All I know is: it's a reptile... Yeah.... Kinda obvious...

If you have to change anything (I know you will if I win), I would like to see the strip thing on his wings to stay. It's almost like it's vital to the design of the creature... -shrugs-

I might have another one later. -brain is working overtime right now-

I probably won't do any art, but I may at some point if I'm feeling bored.

The Sharika is a cute little pet. It is a furry little beast, about the size of a 6-week old kitten (about postcard sized if it lays flat on its belly). Their fur is long and shaggy, and is always a shade of charcoal grey or black. The Sharika's body is shaped vaguely like a cat, but its legs are extremely long and skinny, and it has a prehensile bushy tail. The face of a Sharika is round and baby-like, with a round, short jaw, full cheeks, and a pointed nose. Its eyes are spherical and white - however, they are not blind.

The origins of the Sharika are sketchy at best. It is believed that the first Sharika was born when a shadow gained conciousness when struck by lightning. It split into many forms, but only one survived. (There was a rather survival-of-the-fittest battle ^^) That was the first Sharika!

Sharikas are mysterious little characters. They tend to keep to themselves, slinking around in the shadows, searching for a friend. You see, they've always been lonely, and every Sharika's deepest desire is to find a lifelong friend. They are intelligent and able to talk with humans. An average Sharika leans towards the darker side, and it takes a lot to earn their loyalty.

EVOLUTION!

The Kishara is the evolution of the Sharika. Their fur, still long and shaggy, develops flecks of silver and gold when they evolve, and their legs grow even more disproportionately long. Their favorite position is curled into a sitting position or lying belly-up. Their eyes remain the same bizarre white.

Kisharas are much more personable than their younger counterparts. They enjoy socializing with humans, but they are more of a 'wise grandfather' personality than a friendly pet. Kisharas enjoy guiding their owners through their lives, and are proud to serve under humans in all things. They do, however, maintain more of an aloof persona if they never found their life-friend as a Sharika.

Wow, I spent WAY too much creative juice on that. Wooooow...o.0

And no, I have no problem with you editing, adding to, or removing anything from my little bebbies. I would also LOVE to see a drawing if I win - but I doubt that I would win, because I have no art to back it up.

WIll the winning entries become ACTUAL pets? That would be SOO COOL!

Please excuse any typos.

My first contest entry here on Evelon!

Because I can. o-o;

Image
Vector Image

NAME: Seractos
PRONUN: Seh-rah-kuh-tos
TYPE: Hybrid: Dragon/Serpent, Horse, Fox/Wolf
ACCESSORIES: 'eyebrow' piercing w/ chains which wrap around horns on head.  Various body rings around limbs, tails, etc.

A forrest dwelling creature, protective of the nest and of the family group it lives in.  They are an omnivorous creature with small flat teeth in the backs of their jaws from grinding foliage.  The jagged teeth in front for... well. You know.

Their hides are made of tough, leather-like skin coved in fish-like scales which shine in the sun.  Their markings are intricate, and males adorn a more vibrantly colored mane than females. (The whole mating/attraction thing)  I've not drawn every marking they have, but I intend to submit a colored version later.

They have three fox/wolf-like tails which they use to fan themselves.  Paws are on the hind legs whereas hooves are on the front.  The hooves are hard and typically copper in color.

Miniature wings... just because I like winged things. o-o;

I probably won't win-seeing some of the others...but it's worth a shot!
Image

It's called a Raccat (Rack-at: like Racket only with an 'a'). It's supposed to be a cross between a cat and raccoon! If you're wondering why there are no visible legs, it's because cats' legs don't show when they sit in this position (especially if the legs are the same colour as the body, like my cat). It is open to improvements...though I don't see why it wouldn't be...
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting

Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar

This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth

Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound

NAME:[b]Shyphter
Sh-if-ter
Type: Hybrid

(note: I'll try to upload the pic I made but my dang scanner dun'gone an' broke!)

About: The Shyphter is a rather odd creature. To the human eye it would seem to be part fox and well...fire serpent? Strange huh? It resides in very warm places like deserts and can even be found in drought stricken fields, often being the cause of field fires and such. They are troublesome little creatures who enjoy causing problems. However if you can catch one and train it, it is said you will become lucky and furtunate for the rest of the days you keep the shyphter as your companion.
Appearance:Lets start with the shyphter's head:
They have the cunning face of a fox but oddly have very long ears, kind of like rabbit ears but much more sleek. On their ears are a series of earings, some hoops and one always being a dangling earing with a sort of orb on the end always matching the coloring of their fur. This orb is said to the source of their "magic". As for the markings of the face, they always have two lines coming down from their eye and swirling towards each other.
Now for the body:
The shyphter has two front legs and two back legs in which they use to assit them in climbing up objects. They also have two tiny butterfly like wings, however these are useless to them, showing that the shyphter may have evolved from a flying creature at some point in time. As you look down the shyphter's body you will notice that the fur begins to dissapear and scales begin to form. These scales are always glinting, no matter the color of the creature. The body slowly begins to morph after you look past the back legs. Instead of a bushy tail a serpents tail grows in place. Half way down the tail flames appear and continue all the way down to the bottom of the tail.

Ok...  So I might not have a picture...  But here's the profile.
Name of pet: Angelf, Pronounce:(An-g-Elf)
Genders: Male/female
Type: Hybrid
Apperance: This creature is like a Wolf, howling to the Hevans for it's four wings on it's back.  On the body, it has a symbol of a 12-shaped star as thier soft of magic supplies, but also as a curse.  The Angelf is the only one that candissapear in the sunlight, but glows in the moonlight, flying like an angel of dreams.
Body: The angelf is no laughing stalk.  On it's back has four beautiful wings, like a blessing. on it's chest is a 12 pionted star that changes colors when it's mood starts acting up.  The Angelf has two legs in the front, two legs in the back.  It's tail has a sorta ribbon on for the thing.  If you look closly, it might have something written on the ribbon.
Colors for the common:
Wings: Golden
Body: White
Eyes: Light Blue
Ribbon: Pale red
12 pointed star: Black
Inside of the ears: Black

That's the discription.  If you like it.  I'll try to show a picture.

And that's the TRUTH
Though it may hurt, I give what they DESIRE
What they Desire is my own IMITATION
The reality is, my mind thinks FICTION

Chyuu Chyuu

Name - Chyuu Chyuu
Plural - Chyuu Chyuu
Species - Small Kitten x Fox x Faerie/Pixie

It's a small, fluffy, farie/pixie-type creature. It has no front paws. The wings are small and pixie-like in a way and hover around the top of the back, somtimes hovering out from the sides a bit. The name Chyuu Chyuu can be changed, it's actually just something they say at the end of sentences and such. The Chyuu Chyuu can speak, being a somewhat magical creature, but they usually only say 'Chyuu' or other 'cutsy' little things like 'Nyuu' or 'Oro.'
Chyuu Chyuu naturally have this...feeling to want to fly. They'll be seen making attempts, but the small wings aren't strong enough to lift the long fluffy tail. The Tail is where most of the Chyuu Chyuu's weight comes from, a bit more than half that is. Usually when they make their flying attempts, they'll fall and they'll usually fall on their face. They usually/should naturally use their tails to prevent falling backwards. When they fall on their faces, they're usually stuck like that for a bit. When they're in that position, due to the fact that they have no arms, they use their legs and 'run' around the ground like that. Some Chyuu Chyuu can 'pick themselves back up' with their legs, but others don't have that much leg strength and resort to trying to gain enough speed, and enough that they're lifted enough off the ground to position themselves upright.
Chyuu Chyuu are about 5"-6" in height with their head and body, sitting, and their tails are usually around their head+body length, normally longer though. They have large ears, good for hearing. Their tails start out pretty slim like some cats, but they get very fluffy, like a fox's, towards the end and quite heavy.

This is the mighty Fluffaurus!  With a head the size of a minivan (not including the tusks), this giant carnivore roams the Vast Plains.  It's favorite food is the Gyrophant, but it will also eat cows, people, large pigs, and small cities.  The natives of the areas in which these predators live believe that if a warrior could kill one, he would ascend to be a god, and will constantly fight the beast's spirit in the afterlife.
