Day in the Sun [Semi-Open]

Postby Kallile » 07/20/2008 5:40 PM

((OOC: For all potential joiners, I would really like a max of 2 other people who have good post length of at least a paragraph and a half and are reletively active. I don't mind waiting a day or two for a reply, but I'll be the first to admit that I can be impatient. Of course, if you tell me of a possible absence, I won't mind. Also, this Kuhna is open for a lifemate, so feel free to join and try to win her heart ^_^ ))

The day was bright and peaceful—even with the roar of the falls. Large and strangely wonderful flowers grew all around the lush atmosphere, making it seem like something of an upscale resorts hidden garden. But no—this was free and natural—pure and untainted by development. Not to mention, utterly romantic.

A pair of Sheilupe made their way carefully through the trees leading to the falls. Ahead was a massive male, his burnt orange spirit ribbon flashed between solid and ethereal in anticipation. On his back was a small assortment of strange things, some of which poked out from either end of the blanket they were wrapped in. From his mouth hung a small cooler, blue and white in coloration and obviously very annoying to the large dog. The female behind him was much more relaxed, her bleached pelt glimmering beautifully in the noon sun. It was soon obvious why the male was so on edge—beside the female walked a much smaller Arkuhna, leaning heavily on the Bleached Sheilupe. Her white fur was speckled and splashed with lovely rainbow hues, however the paint brush in her mouth was not held in artistic fashion. Instead her head was lowered, the paintbrush sweeping left and right in the path she was walking. The female Sheilupe smiled down at her kindly.

"We're almost there, Prisma. Brytag and I are going to get you all set up before we go to train, alright?"

The Arkuhna, Prisma, did not look up, only kept sweeping her brush back and forth in between nods. The Sheilupe grinned again, looking to the big male she had called Brytag.  He nodded in silent understanding, having already selected a particularly brilliant spot in the clearing next to the falls. His mate stopped, Prisma stopping instantly with her.

"Wait right here, we'll get everything ready for you." She instructed. This time the Arkuhna carefully removed her paintbrush and smiled. "I will; thank you so much for this, Silk."She looked towards the Bleached canine with milky blue, sightless eyes. Silk only smiled. "Don't mention it—we can all use a break from the house."She said as she walked over to Brytag and pulled the blanket off his back as he placed the cooler on the ground.

The canine pair carefully unrolled the blanket, unveiling a brail paint station and large canvas. Opposite the art supplies was a large umbrella, which Silk opened with a tap of a button found on its handle. Both waited while the umbrella sprung to life before Brytag took it in his mouth and shoved it into the ground at an angle to offer Prisma some shade should she get too warm. Silk, meanwhile, nosed open the cooler and pulled out a strategically placed juice box, the straw already inserted by a kind creature from home who possessed a human form. Silk gently placed the juice box in the shade before moving to nose the Arkuhna to her new station.

Prisma allowed herself to be lead to the middle of the blanket, using her paws to feel the surroundings. Paint- check, canvas- check, juice-check. She smiled brightly, blinking straight ahead. "Perfect—thanks to you both for this. I'll be fine here for a while." She said brightly.

Silk leaned down and carefully nuzzled Prisma. "It's our pleasure, dear. You just yell if you need anything." She turned her gaze to Brytag, and both moved to the waterfall. There were steep, but not impossible rocky cliff faces on either side—their second purpose here today. Brytag looked to his mate, both with the tips of their front claws resting in the torrent water.

"Ready?"
"Always"
"On my mark then."

Both lowered themselves to the ground as Brytag counted down to one and both went splashing into the water. The training race was on.

Prisma sat peacefully on her blanket, her paintbrush under her left front paw. Her eyes were closed and she was busy taking in the surroundings. The feel of the cool, moist breeze that came from the falls on her fur, the smell of the constantly churning water and exotic flowers in bloom, and the rhythmic drumming of the cascading water. She sighed deeply and contently. This was so much nicer than home.
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

This was a beautiful day at the falls. The sun was shining but there were a few clouds, keeping everything cool with a breeze and the promise of a night of rain but nothing while the sun shone.

While this place was supposed to be romantic it was also relaxing, and Mahkah knew that he had to relax more while he was training. Loosening his muscles would help him in the long run, literally.

The huge brute of a Sahound was a little smaller than the two big Sheilupe that had bounded over to the water he had been avoiding. Sometimes swimming was great exercise, but today he wanted to work more on his endurance.

Yawning, he stretched out and shook his coat before watching the two bigger canines zip by him. They were dramatically different colors, but obviously here togather. Not thinking that they were training, he moved a bit away before producing a ball from the grass and throwing it, running to catch it before it fell to the floor. Why not play a bit before getting down to the real training.

Brytag[2], Silk [2], Prisma[2]

Postby Kallile » 07/21/2008 2:45 PM

Their paws hit the smoothed pebbles and sand for a few strides, then both Sheilupe sank up to the base of their necks as the bank gave way to deeper water. While Silk did her best to keep herself going fast enough to keep her chin out of the water, Brytag slowed. The water, with the current rushing and swirling below, would provide a much better first test. Letting himself until his chin was at the rippling surface, he powered on—ripping his hind legs out of the currents below with every paddle.

Silk was ahead, but not concerned so much about the race itself. She was here, more or less, to spot Brytag and insure her mates' safety. As she neared the falls themselves she swung widely around them to reach the shore beside them. Brytag was still out, taking his time to purposefully fight the harder currents. Silk climbed up to the grooved and worn rocks of the waterfall, more towards the less powerful edges, and leapt onto one. The water was instantly battering her back, her sleek legs buckled beneath her to keep herself standing. This was both the best place to see Brytag from, and a mental practice. Hardening and shifting her ethereal ribbons until they were mostly above her back, Silk stood more easily. The ribbons took an enormous amount of concentration to control—this was the best practice.

Brytag continued his swim, headed straight into the falls. He inhaled as he felt the current grab hold of him, then disappeared under the water. Kicking powerful legs he kept his course as best he could‚Äîthe waterfall. The currents ripped him downwards, but the Chaos beast would not be drowned so easily.  As he hit the bottom and felt the rocks beneath his feet he began his climb upwards.

It had been a few minutes, and Silk was growing worried. The waters no longer held an orange blur in them. She noticed a stream of bubbles erupting near her, and suddenly the face of her mate broken the surface. Grabbing onto his scruff, she helped him haul himself up on the rock. He sputtered out a few mouthfuls of water, his ribbons flashing weakly between solid and spirit. His legs wobbled beneath him, but he would not fall—yet.

From the shore, Prisma had replaced the paintbrush in her mouth and was examining the labeled tops of her paints. Red—no, too passionate, everyone told her it went well with love; white—not the right mood for such a pure hue; green—well, she supposed. Everyone did say most of the world was green. Grass, trees, anything that grew from the ground, and since she was outside, she could only assume she was surrounded by it. Ah, there it was—blue. She had heard that nature held some of the most beautiful blues in the world, she only wished to be able to tell what it was really like. Removing the lid, she dipped her brush in and felt around for her canvas.

A new sound caught her attention. Rustling in the grass that did not match the sound of the breeze, accompanied with a new odor. Canine, she could tell that much, but most certainly not Brytag or Silk's scent. She placed her paintbrush back into the blue paint container. "Silk? Brytag?"She called nervously, hoping they would hear.

Kalick & Feravelo [[Fervo]]

"C'mon, Fervo, loosen up, will ya? You're such a strict butt."

"Thanks. I love you too. Look, the only reason I came was to keep you from falling off a waterfall."

The response was grumbled by an angry Arkuhna, without paintbrush in mouth. His tails flicked from side to side and his ears were flat against his skull. Why, why, why had Kalick pulled him along on this stupid trip? He was hot, tired, and sweaty, and wanted to go home.

"Jump off a waterfall? Dude, I gotta try sometime." The Preluhna grinned at the Arkuhna, who gave him a shocked look. "Just kidding. If I went and threw myself off a waterfall, who'd be there to get you to live a little?" He bounced along, while the Arkuhna let loose a low growl of annoyance. "Oh, c'mon, Fervo, really! Lighten up! It's a beautiful day!"

Fervo stopped, his eye twitching. Glaring at Kalick, he hissed, "My name is Feravelo." Oh how he despised that nickname, given to him by the Preluhna he was traveling with. "Look, there's a nice spot here, so let's just sit, okay?" Feravelo settled himself on the ground, glaring at his paws.

Kalick rolled his eyes. "Whatever. You're boring. I'm going out to do something like normal people." With that Kalick walked off. Fervo grumbled under his breath, "Like you're normal."

"I heard that!" Kalick yelled over his shoulder, trotting on down rather close to where Prisma was sitting.

The huge Sahound caught and dodged his ball a few times before his ears swiveled and he heard a few voices. The Sheilupes... One of them coughed, he could only assume that he had gone under the water and accidentally swallowed some of it. Then there was the soft sound of the Arkuhna... Hm. He picked up his ball before going towards the voice.

Another few voices came to him but they were far off even for the massive male. Breaking through the brush, he found the Kuhna and smiled a bit, dropping his ball as he looked to her.

"Are you calling for the Sheilupes, or the other Kuhna?" He asked her, sitting down, trying not to be so intimidating. He didn't know that she could not see, nor did he really figure it out on his own. She just looked like an Arkuhna, like the one Citanul had.

Brytag [3], Prisma [3], Silk [3]

Postby Kallile » 07/21/2008 3:46 PM

The soft voice of Prisma floated just barely over the falls to her Sheilupe guardians. Silk was the first to focus in on her little ward, Brytag still regaining his composure. A few Kuhna had appeared, but they did not worry Silk half as much as the massive Sahound that was sitting quite close to him. Leaping off the well-worn rock and splashing along the shoreline, Silk willed her legs to move faster.

Brytag remained under the falls. Slowly, he had noticed, he was getting a better grasp of the ethereal ribbons around him. A few more second in solid state every time as his mind and body both calmed. The rapid waters still pounded against his broad back here and there, making him grind his teeth in determination. The pain was a sign of strength being won, muscles being reorganized and more efficient. He knew Silk would call if she needed anything—he had faith in her abilities.

Primsa gasped at the sudden nearness of the voice, blinking straight ahead and backing up towards her umbrella. "I—I'm calling for my friends—the Shielupe." She said timidly, ears perking towards the voices of the other Kuhna. The masculine and playful 'I heard that!' drifted to her ears. Giving a shaky sigh, she inched back to her previous position. "I'm sorry, you frightened me,"she said to Mahkah, even though her eyes were staring off a few degrees east of him. She moved her paw slowly across the blanket until she found his paw; patting it carefully, she gave a soft smile. "I suppose it would have been good to be a little afraid. You must be huge."She said in a slightly more relaxed tone as she started moving her paws up his leg to try and get a better 'look' at her guest.

The footfalls of a smaller Kuhna drew ever closer, making Prisma wonder if this new guest had brought along a friend. Turning her head towards the general direction of Kalick, Prisma's ears swiveled endlessly to try and pinpoint exactly how close he was to them. "Hello to you too,"She called, hoping it was another friendly soul.

Feravelo let out a long sigh. He was the responsible one of the two here. Why did he always have to be the smart one? He lay out on his back, his tails twitching slightly. He hated the loneliness he felt when Kalick left. Although he said he despised the hyperactive, annoying Preluhna, deep down, he found him to be a good friend. Of course, he'd never admit that. The Arkuhna sighed again, figuring he should probably catch up with Kalick. Before the Preluhna jumped off a waterfall. Or any other high place.
Fervo rolled his eyes to himself, knowing the Preluhna probably would try doing so, or at least down a small one. Stretching, he rose to his feet, yawned, and trotted after Kalick.

The Preluhna's ears twitched when he realized he wasn't alone here. He gazed across the grass, seeing at once where the voice had come from. An Arkuhna was sitting there, chatting with a big Sahound. The first thought it his head was, 'She's preeetttyy...'
Pathetic. But Kalick had learned not to judge one on their appearances. He'd been in the breeding rooms at least three times...Kalick had to go through all his kids in his head to remember. Yes. Three times. Hantoumei and Coelth from the first time, then Kyyuin, and lastly Sukai. Only Hantoumei, Coelth, and Kyyuin still lived with him, though.
"Hey," Kalick said, padding toward the Arkuhna, tails raised. "My name's Kalick. What's yours, dear lady?" Too bad he didn't have a flower or something...

Mahakah wagged his tail a bit. This Kuhna seemed nice, but timid. This place though... He preferred being out in the open compared to the dankness of the Shrine. But he had brought home the Mekkyena, and Citanul had been happy.

"I don't think they can hear you over the waterfall." He chuckled and sat down, head tilted as her gaze didn't exactly meet his own and she moved her paws to touch him. Hm... Oh! Theurge did that! She must be blind. He didn't mind, smiling before moving a bit more into her paw so she could run over his back and 'see'.

"Just a little smaller than your friends. Pretty big for a Sahound I guess. Name's Mahkah, by the way." Shifting just slightyly, he watched the Kuhna approach. Since his fur didn't stand on end, she could guess that whatever he saw didn't post a threat. "Would you like me to go get your friends?" He asked, watching her. "They are just a little away."

Brytag[4] Silk[4] Prisma[4]

Postby Kallile » 07/21/2008 7:50 PM

Silk was nearing much closer than just a little ways away. She was to the bend in the shoreline where they had started from, though her pace had slowed. From this distance she could see more clearly that Prisma was not under attack, but rather making the acquaintance of the Sahound. The brutes large size still had her worried, though he seemed to pose little threat to the sightless Arkuhna.

Brytag, wondering what was keeping Silk, had slipped out of the beating falls and stood a little behind them, peering towards the slowly gathering group. All seemed to be in order, a momentary rest would be highly welcomed before he tackled the cliff face. Seating himself on the damp pebbles behind the waterfall, he awaited the return of his mate.

"Sahound..." Prisma repeated as her paws wondered over Mahkah's back and neck. She had never met one of these creature before—he was fascinating. She stopped before she got to his face, feeling his neck muscles tense to speak again. She nodded and smiled brightly. "Oh, please. I bet they would love to meet you."

Kalick's voice drew her head towards him, her head swiveling minutely back and forth to try to get the exact area where she should be facing. When she felt she had found it, her warm smile returned. "Hello Kalick,"She replied in a soft, sweet voice. "I'm Prisma." This was said to both Mahkah, who she hoped was not yet gone, and the newcomer. Relaxing back on her haunches, she lifted both her front paws just a little in the air. Beneath her white fur, her skin flushed red. She loved meeting new people, however going about "meeting"them was always a little awkward for her.

"Would you mind...if I met you more properly, Kalick?" She asked, holding out a paw. She had been told by some of her more brash first time acquaintances that it was creepy for her to make her way to them to touch them. So she sat, still and polite, waiting to see if this new voice would allow her to put a face to it.

Feravelo let out a long sigh when he came to the top of the hill and looked down. There he saw Kalick, chatting with another Arkuhna and a Sahound. Well, hopefully he wasn't causing any trouble. Kalick could be such a nuisance when he wanted to be. Fervo trotted down the hill, tails high, and stopped next to the Preluhna.
"Hello," he mewed politely to the Arkuhna and Sahound. "I hope my friend here isn't bothering you in any way." He shot a glance at Kalick through narrowed eyes, which the Preluhna returned with a look that said, 'What?! I didn't do anything!'

Kalick turned his gaze from Fervo to Prisma. "Well, Prisma, it's very nice to meet you. This is Fervo." Immediatly, the Arkuhna opened his mouth to deal out a stinging retort to Kalick, but was stopped when Kalick stuffed his tail in Feravelo's mouth. [b]"He's a bit of a grump today because I made him come outside into the light."

"I don't have any issues with the outside world!" Fervo spat through a mouthful of fur, narrowing his eyes angrily.
"Oh, ignore him," Kalick said, returning his gaze to Prisma. "Er...touch me, you mean? Sure..." He wasn't going to argue, seeing as Prisma was blind and all. It would seem rude. But still, it was a little...different...

The huge brute gave a soft chuckle as she ran her paws over his neck. Seems he was ticklish, or at least enjoying the gentle touches. "It is good to meet you, Prisma." His tail wagged again through the soft grass, ears flickering again as he listened to the now-close Kuhna.

"Hey Kalick." He smiled to the new Kuhna, watching the third one come over. Chuckling at their antics, he gently pulled back from Prisma's paws. "I'll go find your friends. Be back soon." He smiled again before turning and picking up his ball to go and find the Sheilupes.

He was sure he was bound to run into them, since they were near. He figured that they wouldn't leave the blind one alone for too long even in such a peaceful place. Anything could happen anywhere... Even in the seemingly empty Shrine, he had found the Seraph Sahound and then the Mekkyena... With the disturbing run-in with Belenus as well. Just the thought made him want to shudder and tear apart the Hallow Aries.

Brytag[5] Silk[5] Prisma[5]

Postby Kallile » 07/22/2008 1:20 PM

Petite ears flickered towards the third faceless voice, Prisma nodded kindly none the less. If he was friends of Kalick, he was surely meaning no harm. "Hello, um...Fervo?"She said uncertainly. Kalick's voice was a bit too playful when he had said the name—but since no other was given in correction, the Arkuhna had only Fervo to use. She rose a paw to muffle the laugh at their conversation. How nice it must be to have someone that close to you.

With permission granted, Prisma reached out until she found Kalick's shoulders. She smiled and flushed pink again, always a little nervous about this first meeting. It had lead to many refused second meetings. Moving her paws back, she found his small feathered wings and beamed brightly.

"Oh, I didn't know I'd have the pleasure of meeting an angel today!"She remarked playfully, carefully patting up the sides of his neck and to his jawline. The rest of his face was not patted with her entire paw, but rather individual toes. Her touches were light and fleeting, only gracing certain places—cheek bones, the bridge of his nose, eyebrows, until she ended up at the tips of his ears.

She pulled her paws back to her sides, gentle smile still on her face. "You are very handsome, Kalick." There was a deep seeded appreciation in her voice. She, of course, knew what Kuhna 'looked' like. She was very familiar with her own face and wings, at least. Her ears flickered to Fervo for a moment. She did not want to draw this process out if it could be helped. "Are you a Kuhna as well?" She asked him.

~~

Silk watched the Sahound approach—the brute having not caught sight of her just yet. Her eyes fell on the Kuhna group as she watched Prisma greet Kalick. A grin crept across her face—very few creatures allowed the poor little dear to do so. Glancing back to the Sahound, she gave a low but audible bark.

"Here!" she called sharply, a gut feeling telling her that he was probably looking for them. Prisma was quick to trust, but she still got frightened.

Brytag watched the tiny specks of creatures buzz about, seeing the notable larger Sahound nearing his mate. A low growl rumbled in his throat, though no one else could hear it. Should the brute make one harsh move, Brytag would be all over him.

"Oh, hi, er...big Wood Sahound...?" Kalick didn't have a chance to get the Sahound's name before he left. Oh well. He'd probably meet up with the guy later. He seemed like a nice fellow--Prisma definitely seemed fine with him. No worries about him.

Fervo scowled, but his annoyance was directed toward Kalick rather than Prisma. "My name is Feravelo. Not Fervo. Feravelo." He was polite when he spoke to the Arkuhna. It wasn't her fault Kalick was an idiot. He didn't want her to get confused in the area of his name. That was something he couldn't let anyone mess up.

Kalick rolled his eyes at Fervo. He was so picky! Why couldn't he just let people call him Fervo? "Oh, ignore him," the Preluhna murmured to Prisma. "Feravelo's such a mouthful. Feel free to call him Fervo. I'll whack him over the head if he makes any fuss." Kalick grinned at Prisma, even though he knew she wouldn't be able to see it. But then, she might have felt it. Kalick stayed still as the Arkuhna's paw grazed gently over his fur, the touch soothing to his skin. Fervo, though, just had to interrupt his moment of joy.

"Handsome? An angel? I'll believe that when Gorgeels fly, and not a moment before." Feravelo's nose wrinkled in disgust. He knew Kalick, and the guy, in his mind, was no angel. Heck, he caused trouble wherever he went! He even admitted to racing around the dark desk of the breeding center when the lights when out! How many people Kalick crashed into and distured, Fervo didn't even want to know.

"Well at least I'm not a square," Kalick retored, smirking. He loved messing with Fervo. It was so easy! "Yeah, he's an Arkuhna. Same as you. Just not as pretty." Kalick stuck out his tongue at Fervo, grinning playfully at him. It was just like the two to bicker about everything.

The huge Sahound obviously heard the bark. He turned his head towards it and wagged his tail a bit. Even if the female was larger than him, he expected that. It was nice to find a canine bigger than he was however. An obviously well-muscled form approached, but with a puppy-like innocence that could only be had by one who wasn't completely aware of his size.

"I guess... You are Silk?" He asked, tilting his head and smiling. Brytag sounded like a male name, and this Sheilupe was obviously female. It was probably good that Mahkah tried to be gentle in everything he did... Otherwise he and Brytag woudl be in a fight. While the Sheilupe was bigger, Mahkah had far more training.

Brytag [6] Silk[6] Prisma[6]

Prisma giggled lightly, nodding towards the sound of the other Arkuhna's voice. His real name was a mouthful to say, it sounded like. She pondered a moment on whether to take Kalick's offer or not, but though it better to not make a pest of herself. "It's very nice to meet you then, Feravelo."The name came out a little thick and sloppy, causing Prisma to flush and give an apologetic smile. "Forgive me, I'm never encountered such a name before."

Prisma's shoulders juggled about as she chuckled at the two of them. This was quite fun indeed. "Well,"she began, "then he may have his shining moment as a handsome angel right now then. You wouldn't deceive a poor blind girl, now would you?" She asked as she turned her head back to where Kalick's voice had last been. A playful pout fell upon her face before she lost her composure and giggled at them once more. It had been some time since she had been in truly accepting company. "Pretty? Me? Oh surely not. I'm sure you've seen prettier than little 'ole me."

Silk watched the younger male approach and call her by name. She instantly relaxed—seeming to know what had gone on between he and Prisma while she was away. If he knew her name and in turn was now before her, Prisma must have sent him.

"I am."She said simply, offering him a kind smile. He was certainly large for a Sahound, and polite too. Her eyes drifted back to the group of Kuhna and Prisma's laughter reached her cropped ears. A deeper smile spread across her face. "If Prisma sent you...I think she would do well with a few moments alone."

Silk nodded back towards the group, incase the Sahound was curious. "But in the meantime, you look like one who appreciates a test of body and mind. Would you care to join us?" Her gentle eyes rested easily on Mahkah—almost like the eyes of a watchful mother.

Brytag watched the Sahound's polite maneuvers and snorted gruffly. He already knew what Silk was asking him even though the waterfall far out powered the sound of his mate's voice. So be it, the whelp could train if he so wished...
