Another week, and another chance at more tricks and treats! True, Atlas hadn't picked up the haul from last week yet, but he knew that it would come in good time. Plus, if he was patient now, it would just seem like that much more candy coming in at the same time later on, when the treats were indeed delivered. Toting his little pouch of keystones along in his mouth, along with a note that described his order (perhaps one day someone might give him an actual Tali-translator), he made his familiar way to the Seasonal Specialties shop. Letting himself in the door, he bounded up to the counter to drop off his order and payment. The note read as follows:
Hi again! I'd like to place an order for another Week's Worth of Tricks and Treats.
The payment should be in the pouch. Thanks!

Gwen was quite proud of herself for this one. Her costume reused many parts of her usual wardrobe, plus a little extra makeup and some cheap fake fangs. It was funny to her that the way she normally dressed was enough to look like a costume to some. Tonight, she dialed it up to 11. Her makeup was done to make herself look especially gaunt, and her normally chaotic hair was smoothed down perfectly, uncannily flat. She had a particularly revealing top under a thick leather jacket with yet more gaunt looking makeup around her collarbones.

Gwen's boots clicked against the floor as she strode into the little shop. A kid standing nearby started to stare at her and she shot a quick menacing hiss in his direction. With a satisfied smirk, she made her way to the shopkeeper. "Trick or treeeeat," she cooed in her sweetest voice. "Nah, seriously though, I'd like to buy a week's worth of candy." She dug in the pockets of her jacket and dumped out some keystones, along with some lint, fingernail polish, and a few other odd things.

This was a lot.

He'd had a lot of new experiences in the last few days, foremost among them seeing the sun for the first time, but this was something else. He'd never been around so much movement before—there was life in the cave, but much of it was slow or stationary, and there was never this much of the mobile kind in one place, at least not in the places he'd explored. And they were all so much bigger than him.

Those explorers he'd followed out had dropped some strange smooth rocks on their way, and he had seen enough people using them for trade that he thought he understood what they were, but he was still hesitant about this. Would they even understand his speech? In the end he just dumped them on the counter. Hopefully they would get the message, and give him a day's worth of whatever "candy" turned out to mean.

Holidays were the hardest part of being a blended family. Each side of the family brought their own celebrations with them, and not only did you want to celebrate them on your own, you wanted to introduce your children to them. Marianne had grown up in a world where Halloween was a fun celebration full of costumes where you dressed up as a monster and carried a lantern carved out of a rose hip to scare off the goblins.

Now she was married to a goblin. And it turned out, they weren't impressed.

He insisted that their childrens' "goblin duty" was to be scary on Halloween. Poor little Actias, however, seemed less than impressed. Even though his fangs were coming along nicely and his tendrils were hardening into impressive spikes, he was easily frightened by the more grisly costumes and he didn't like spooky noises. His Halloween costume was a Yingshee--because, according to him, they were nice and fluffy and had kind eyes. Secretly Marianne liked it--that was the kind of logic her sister would use, and she thought it was sweet that he took after his auntie.

"A week's worth of tricks and treats for my little one," she said, as Actias silently held out his goodie bag. "He's a little shy. So go gently on him, OK?"

'I'm so sick of everything,' Tempest had said one night, coming home only to immediately collapse onto the sofa and bury her face in a throw pillow. 'Princesses are impossible to negotiate with. I wish I could just punch her in the face and be done with it.' Coming from the poster child for 'everything can be resolved peacefully,' this was a little out-of-character.

Blaze, being the poster child for 'there's no problem I can't punch into submission,' immediately offered to fix that.

'Much as I'd love to, no,' she said, staring blankly at the ceiling. 'Diplomatic immunity exists.'

'Well,' said Blaze. 'How about you go trick-or-treating with me to relieve stress?'

And so, a few hours of anxiously going through the closet, rapid-fire prop construction, and trading make-up later, two girls walked into Seasonal Specialties - one in a frost-blue dress layered in tulle, a crown of crystals in her hair, and an intricate white scepter in her hand; the other wearing a red shirt-and-pants ensemble with trailing ribbons that resembled licking flames. 'Trick or treat!' one of them said. 'Just one day's worth of trick-or-treating for the two of us.'

Blaze caught a glimpse of her reflection in a shop cabinet, then added, 'On second thought, I think I should've been the fire mage, not you.'

Had seven days passed already? Hyx was otherwise indisposed, something about kuhna causing trouble at the manor, so Kail had been asked to go out to the Seasonal Specialties shop. "I need another weeks worth of trick-or-treats please," he said, passing on some keystones. He'd even set aside some time to explore the other festivities in the town.

Oh trick-or-treating was so much fun! And what better time to get ahead of the game then to... well.. come in before Halloween? Gale strolled into the shop, gleefully looking around at all the decorations and candies that he would soon be getting his share of. Oh! And riddles too! That was always a fun thing since you never knew what you would be getting! All so fun! "Heeeelllooo! I'm here to collect a weeks worth of trick-or-treats please!" he placed a sack full of keystones on the counter and giggled, hopping out of the shop to await his loot later on.

It had been decided that the Bladed Sushi was going to hand out candy to children that came to their restaurant for the holidays. As such, Nelly was sent out to fetch said candy, namely because Blaidds had absolutely no idea about such things. He could make sushi and other dishes well, but candy was something else.

"Hello," she greeted, her tone coming out polite and professional. "I am here for candy." A day's worth of treats or tricks, that's what she needed.

After the week was over, she was back once again to collect even more treats. With another bag that contained exactly the same amount of money as before, and this time wearing the pointy black hat and cape that was very similar to that of a witch.

It was probably still a little too early to be dressing up, but this costume had become a favorite of hers, as it was simple and easy to wear. And who could resist the opportunity to dress up? She sure couldn't.

"I'm baaaack~!" Skylar called out to Elie as she hopped up onto the counter. "Same thing as last time, please. Tricks and treats for the whole week!" If she could keep this up for long enough, especially without others knowing, Skylar imagined that she would have a decently sized secret pile of candy all to herself.

Halloween! She was so excited for Halloween!!

Holidays were always so exciting. They always managed to put a smile on everybody's face whenever they rolled around! Whether it was Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, everybody liked a nice break. Her labcoat was full of little trinkets, but even as she strolled in the little shop in her casual clothes, she had a few all around. Keychains, buttons, straps; anything small and that could easily speak for her love of little trinkets.

"Happy Halloween!" she greeted excitedly. "Well, it's not quite Halloween yet, but almost!" Her smile was almost out of this world. Whether it came off as eerie or endearing was a typically a coin toss. "I'd love to participate in your little thing here!" She pushed the necessary money on the counter. "One week's worth of tricks and treats, please!"

Lero absolutely loved Halloween. Not only was it his birthday - which, how cool was that? - but he also got to go around to strangers and get free candy. One might expect that the excitement for such things would wear off by the time a man was well into his twenties, but they might expect too much. He had actually had a little bit of time to fashion together a decent costume this time, no thanks to Brian, and he felt much less like an outcast this year as he ambled through the door. Perhaps a Frankenstien's Monster costume wasn't the most original, but it was something.

He settled his treat basket on the counter, looking not a little hopeful that he would get something good. "Trick or treat! Just one day's worth, please." He didn't want to get too carried away and give the other guys any reason to think he wasn't going to be returning every day for the rest of the month. He was going to milk this little bit of time off for everything he could get out of it - particularly if there were candy involved.

I'll find repose in new ways,
Though I haven't slept in two days
'Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone;
But drenched in vanilla twilight,
I'll sit on the front porch all night,
Waist deep in thought because when
I think of you I don't feel so alone...

The two teenagers who entered the shop didn't seem dressed for the occasion. Normal clothes, the girl in a soft yellow dress and the boy in a simple shirt and jeans. "I feel underdressed," the girl, Lisa, mumbled, running a hand nervously through her short hair.

"It doesn't matter," Nine muttered, making his way towards the counter, almost seeming to ignore the girl. "I'd like to purchase a week's worth of candy, please. Yes, you heard me right," he murmured, fishing out money from his pocket and placing it neatly on the counter. "I need some of these... and those, there..."

Lisa eyed Nine's back with something like a smile. Twelve had wanted to come--he usually did, with Lisa, at that time of year--but with the other boy sick at home, Nine had to go in his place. She noticed how Nine knew Twelve's favorite candies without even having to think about it. Perhaps he did care, more than he let on.

It just wouldn't be a holiday without Vincent nearly crashing into the storefront and arguing with the resultant angry pedestrians as he climbed out of the cab. Why he'd be interested in this one, or why he'd bring the entire van with him to pick up some candy in the first place, was anyone's guess, but here he was, feathers bristling and money in hand.

"Good evening," he said to Elie. "Sorry about...all of that nonsense out there. I need one day's worth of candy, if you please."

On her own, this time. Her companion had been too busy with various important duties to accompany her this time, so she was just here, alone, tugging at the bottom of a slightly too-small-for-her white shirt to get it to match the top of her white skirt. She wasn't sure why she'd randomly decided to dress up as a tennis player - did she even know anyone who played tennis? - but since she was here already, may as well go with it.

'Trick or treat!' she said, like she always said. 'I'm here for one day's worth of candy, or of tricks, however it might go.'

Strolling into the shop like she owned the place, Blue would have easily been mistaken for someone dressed up as a fairy or a butterfly for the Halloween festivities. However, that was not the case. Her wings were very much real, even in her most human form. While she had been told it might be possible to learn to dismiss them and summon them, the way that the king did with his, for now, that was not the case. At any rate, at least she didn't seem all too out of place here.
