Noel was passing through. His proximity to the fabled well had nothing to do with wishes. It definitely had nothing to do with the strange tickets that began appearing on people who got near. A science experiment almost. If he were willing to admit that was why he was around. How magical could a well really be?

Jason strolled up to the well, a bag of Keystones held in his jaw. He hopped up to the edge, staring down before carefully tilting the bag and sending the Keystones dropping down.

"So," he said softly, "I bet you know what all the Kuhnas tend to ask you for, don't you? Those items like the one my parents used to have me. I don't need any of that myself, though. After all, it's not like I have anyone to spend my life with. So...that's what I'm wishing for, I guess. That you can find me someone who will be a good partner for me, who will walk by my side like my uncle Flag and aunt Summerfall."

With a sigh, he hopped back down from the edge. It was probably too much to ask of the well, no matter how magical it was. Still, he had to try, didn't he?

For once, the woman had left her weapons behind. Walking around empty handed was an unnerving feeling, but something about walking up to a wishing well with twin swords hanging at her sides felt a bit... disrespectful? Besides, there seemed to be a lot of other people making wishes today, and she didn't want to intimidate any of them.

Marceline waited until a spot right in front of the well opened up. She darted in to take it, peering over the edge into the water below. Withdrawing a couple of keystones, she tossed them into the well, and then made her wish:

"Bring my partner back," she spoke in a low voice. "He's lost, and I can't do our job alone. Show me where he is, so that I can bring him back home."

Melanie had just finished unloading her cart. The melons had finished ripening and she delivered them to the stand in Nabias that sells them. With her small satchel of keystones she was payed in, she made her way to the well she'd heard rumors about. "I know this probably sounds stupid," she stated, talking to herself. "I just really need a vacation. So..." Her hand was cupping a single piece of KS. She let it fall into the cobblestone circle, letting a tiny splash signify her wish was ready. "I wish for a chance to get away." She stared into the darkness of the pit, swearing she could almost see the water at the bottom.

Lana. Xyshari.

Once more, the women came to the wishing well. After the appearance of the strange ticket that had been tucked into Lana's boot, they had to see if it would happen again the next day. That morning, Theron had reported that Satele had been in contact with him, and had wanted to arrange time to come and visit him - or to have him visit her. He had agreed to have her come to Odessen - "Too many bad memories on Coruscant," he'd said - and had thanked Xyshari once again for letting him accompany her.

"Do you think he'll be all right?" Lana asked Xyshari. "I always felt like Satele and Theron were at odds with one another: she was the grand master of the Jedi Order, he was her son... and not Force-sensitive, at that."

"Maybe they'll be able to talk as mother and son, instead of as Jedi and former SIS agent," Xyshari said, looking at the well. "Shall we?"

Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

The little boy kicked stones as he walked down the path to the wishing well. His hands were balled into fists at his sides and he was clearly very upset. Why can't I just have one simple gift? What's so wrong with that? I never ask for anything! Tears welled in his eyes, and his brows furrowed in response. His fists flew to his eyes, immediately trying to rub the tears away.

"I just want a skateboard!" He muttered in frustration, thinking of the conversation he'd just had with his mother. She'd argued that it wasn't in the cards and that they just didn't have the money. But he'd seen with his own two eyes that his little sister just got new clothes! He'd gotten nothing! THEN his mother had mentioned that they weren't safe and why didn't he want a scooter that had something for him to hold on to! Babies rode scooters! He wasn't a baby!

The wishing well now loomed in front of him. He grabbed the single keystone from his pocket and tossed it, squaring up like he was playing basketball before proudly proclaiming his wish. "I want a skateboard! One with flames! Or like, enough money to buy a skateboard! Please please!  I promise I'm really good, I do chores. I just want one, please." The little kid clutched the stone edge and teetered forward so his face was looking straight down into the well. He saw nothing but darkness and heard nothing but the faint echo of his own words. He'd been under the impression that this stuff was immediate, that he should have the skateboard right now. But, maybe there was a delay? Maybe he should wait around for a little bit.

A few minutes went by and he jumped back on the stone wall. "Uh, hello? Anyone there? Did you hear me before? I want a skateboard! I already paid you!" He waited, straining his ears, hopeful he'd hear something, but nothing responded. He sank down, sitting against the side of the well, burying his head in his hands. He just wanted the stupid skateboard.

Sedimus sighed to himself as he approached the well. Another year alone, far away from his love. What he wouldn't give to be human again. To not be some kind of monster.

He looked down into the well and pulled out a coin looking it over in his hands before tossing it into the dark pit below.

"Please, just, let me be human again. Even if it's just for one more day. I need to see my Mack again."

Damien definitely wasn't back at the Wishing Well because he was hoping for a wish to come true. No way. He didn't believe this well had magic powers at all! He just thought it seemed like a good place to practice his magic was all. After all, there were a lot of people hanging around, and they made excellent victims for some of his spells.

Look at that little girl, right there! She was leaning over the well so excitedly, tossing in her Keystone with a smile on her face. She adjusted her yellow knit cap, and her rosy cheeks went wide with glee.

Well, he had a trick for HER!

With a snap of his fingers and a smell of brimstone--

POOF!

Her hat was now the ugliest, pukiest, shade of green--

Aaand it had all gone sideways and instead turned a vibrant emerald color. The girl gasped and her smile got even wider.

This was not shaping up to be Damien's week.

It's so strange
I can't believe I'm falling for the first time!

Laura was a true believer in the power of magic. As she stepped closer to well, she felt a hum of energy. Was it excitement or the well's magic?

"I don't have anything to wish for myself," she said to black nothingness down below. "Still, I know there are others less fortunate than I. I truly wish I knew how to help. I wish I had a way to help more."

Laura thought about Piper and how they had taken her in and given her a new life. That small act of kindness had brought her more joy than anything else had in her entire life. She craved that feeling, but had no idea where to start.

"Show me who to help next," she said, "and provide me with the means to do so."

With that, she dropped a keystone down below.

He'd made it there safely, and seemingly without a tail, too. Goemon straightened up, brushing leaf litter from his jingasa and peering over the fence. No... no sign of anyone, Zenigata-shaped or otherwise. Goemon finally took a moment to catch his breath, unlacing the hat from his head and shaking it free of leaves. He held it under his arm, and in his other hand he held the sack of forged bills.

It seemed... poor taste, somehow, to dump these here. But this well was fabled to be bottomless, and Lupin had been quite clear that this was the perfect spot to sunset the fake money. If the heist was to go well... Goemon had to do this. Still... it felt a shame.

He sighed inwardly and sent a prayer of remorse up to whatever disapproving god watched over this well, and with a grunt of effort, hucked the sack into its deep, dark depths. And as quickly as he'd come, he vanished into the trees, eager to reunite with the others.

And flowers in your hair

Oh, the air was getting chilly, wasn't it? Fall had come and gone so fast. Overall, though, winter had been kind so far. Some snow, but it didn't stay long; the temperature had been pretty mild, too. Nothing to really complain about, really!

They stepped towards the well. The place felt so familiar, and yet, so unfamiliar. It was a weird feeling: it didn't look like it had changed much, and yet, it felt like the place weren't the same as before.

They took a peek down the well, thoughts going through their mind in a loud, chaotic way. "I wonder if it still works..." they wondered aloud. There was one thing they'd missed out on during the last holiday game. Maybe...

The traditions and beliefs surrounding the act of making wishes was not all that different, whether you were human, dragon, or just about anything else that existed somewhere among the worlds. And while her own kind did not normally conduct this type of behavior with using stars, paper, or in this case a well as the medium, they did still have their own unique methods for achieving this. But when Amala happened to hear that the people here were using this building to make wishes, well... she had to take a look for herself.

Now it wasn't as though she necessarily needed anything that would've been worthwhile or special enough to turn into a wish, in fact she had more than enough going on in her life that left her quite happy and content. But she understood that there was something special about this well, and maybe there was some magic of sorts at work here if it actually worked, and she thought that with no particular desires of her own, this power would be best used for someone other than herself.

Approaching the hole in the earth encircled with stone, uttering not a single word, she would pour her heart out into a small object held close to her in her hands. Her thoughts swirling with all sorts of possible wishes she could make for the many individuals that she cared about. Sadly she could only choose to make one wish truly known to this well. And when she did, her hands reached out to hold what was a small dark stone, before dropping it into the darkness below. She wouldn't be able to hear the item that held value in the world actually hit any sort of bottom, but she was happier knowing that her work here was done for now.

Oh Raven won't you sing me a happy song

You don't want me to stay alone
That's why you gotta sing your song
You keep tapping at my door
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore
But can I ask you something
A favor from you my friend
This song you keep singin'
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore

Ryder wasn't the type of man to make wishes. He believed in making your own magic; if you put in the work, your dreams would come true... or something like that. Still, the wishing well was a nice little spot for some quiet contemplation every now and then. Well, it used to be, at least.

He was quite taken aback to realize that the well was currently surrounded by people making wishes. For a moment he hesitated, wondering if he should just leave. But he had already come this far, so he might as well at least throw a keystone or two in the well. It was just a fun thing to do, it's not like he actually expected the well to do anything. That would have been silly... right?

Waiting patiently, he finally approached as a spot right next to the well opened up. He made quick work of tossing his keystones in, and then stepping aside so that the next wish-maker could take their turn.

The little bird picks himself up, not much worse the wear for someone who'd looked on a direct collision course with the center of the earth moments ago. "I-I'm sorry!" he chirps, sounding not at all sorry. "I'm looking for um, the bazaar?"

"The bazaar?" Ven asks, mildly incredulous. Her lack of directional sense is the butt of many a joke among her friends, and yet she has never been as far off-track as this particular bird seems to be. "Like, the bazaar? The one that's on the other side of the city?"

"...is it?" the bird responds, cocking his head to one side like he'd come out of the dictionary definition for innocence. "I was just following the directions I got, and then I got a little lost, and then I found myself here."

"This is the wishing well," Ven explains. "I'm not sure what directions you got, but you must've taken a wrong turn somewhere because this really is the complete opposite direction from where you were going." Her words are punctuated with a faint pang of guilt - she feels like she's giving a lecture instead of anything useful. "Um, if it would help I guess I can draw you a map?"

Pulling out one of the pages of her notebook, she quickly sketches an outline of the main streets of the city from memory and labels each of them neatly. "Sorry this isn't too exact, but I hope it'll be helpful. You can probably ask some people along the way to point you in the right direction, too."

Taking the map from her, the bird holds it in one claw and examines it carefully. Well, examines. Carefully. Sort of. "Um, you've got it upside down," Ven offers awkwardly.

"Oh," the bird says, and does not turn the map the right side up. "I-I guess this'll be useful! Thank you!"

Vane did her best to saunter up to the well, despite the various glitches in her body making her occasionally stumble or freeze up. At one point, her jaws got stuck open, making the bag of Keystones she was carrying drop to the ground. She fumbled to pick it up with her paws, finally managing to hook it onto a claw. Error and Codex had both offered to come with her, but she had refused their assistance. She wanted to do this on her own, prove that she could.

Finally, she managed to toss the coins into the well. "H-h-hey there," she stuttered. "S-s-so, got absol-l-lutely no idea how-w-w-w you work, but our g-g-gang needs some h-help. S-s-so, send some, if you ple-e-ease."

She remained there for a while more, leaning casually against the wall of the well until she felt in control of herself again to return home.
