Since we can buy custom Khalmars for the holidays, I was wondering if the 1 Khalamar per person rule was still applying, as if so I'd have to auction off the one I have to get a custom, right?

Oh no. That rule only stood for when you 'adopted' the first few Khalmar that Ticky passed out earlier. She just didn't want people 'grabbing' more than one. You can still own more than one (if you got others from trades or suchlike) and you can buy as many as you want, you shouldn't have to throw out anything.
