She probably has a first name, but everyone just calls her Kerner, so it's a mystery lost to time (and the relaxed atmosphere of her job). An entomologist, Kerner grew up fascinated by insects of all shapes and sizes, hunting them in her front yard to stare at, catching caterpillars and releasing them as butterflies, and eventually deciding to focus on their study in college. Now a college professor herself, Kerner works in the classroom and the laboratory, cataloging specimens, teaching insect anatomy, and secretly hoping to make the next big discovery in the entomology world, often taking sabbatical around the world in search of new species and unknown habits.
A tall, near-skeletal woman who's been described as "mousy" (by those who soon after lost their positions at the college), with eyes that appear closer to gray than blue, tan skin, and a hawkish nose. Her black hair is kept in a neat braid under one of seemingly hundreds of colorful handkerchiefs, and she often wears muted tones with bright, eye-catching pops of bold neon. Much of her clothing and accessories is either covered in an insect print or fashioned to look like a bug itself.
