E v a n e s c ence Estate

E v a n e s c ence Estate

If one were to stroll the streets of Jawan on a typical summer's day, they would often catch the merry sounds of music and the chatter of crowds, accompanied by the sights and smells of a Mediterranean Paridise. Some distance from the usual hustle and bustle of city life, there exists a part of Jawan which only few venture to. Here, the noises of cars, businesses and people seem to fade, giving way to the soothing rhythm of waves caressing the shore, lapping incessantly against sand and stone. Here, among a few other villas, lies an expansive stretch of land situated on a bluff which overlooks the ocean, several hundreds of feet below. This beautiful mansion, the Evanescence Estate, falls on the other side of Jawan from the slums, a huge home which is doubtlessly the residence of many a person. Who would live in such place though? There's only one way to find out.

"Welcome", a large, buffed brass plate attached to the door proclaims. This villa, built after the fashion of Mediterranean houses, is, in a single word, breathtaking. Feel free to take your time to marvel at the architecture and design of the house, and move on whenever you feel fit to. The mistress of the house seems to currently be absent: She has business elsewhere, at the time being, but she has provided a means of contacting her by message, if any guest happens to require her assistance, presence, or otherwise.
On a nearby wall, there hang three badges, side by side, proclaiming her status as a breeder of all three species of creatures.

There is also a thick tome laying on a stand near the entrance as well. It is unmarked, but upon opening it, it becomes obvious that the book is a listing of the inhabitants found in the manor, as well as outside of it.

About: Aerowyn was born and raised by a family which believed that a pup’s destiny was chosen as soon as they were born, and as tradition went, the young Lucain’s future was set out for her as soon as her pelt began to color out and her adult markings show through. Her foster parents took her to a diviner, who, judging by the army-colored scheme of her coat, decided that she would be a fighter when she grew up. Thus, so she was trained, and relentlessly and rigorously so too. Knowing no other lifestyle, the young femme threw herself, body and soul, into the learning of the art of combat of every shape and form, and from a very young age, she showed a great deal of promise. She was never happy with the life she had been allotted, but she was content. Her foster parents didn’t really show her the love deserving of a child her age, but were proud of her accomplishments as they watched her excel. As she grew older, there wasn’t anyone to tell her that there was a life outside of training and fighting, but from these talents unmatched by any other, she made a living for herself, hiring out her talents as a mercenary. It wasn’t long before her talents were discovered by the leader of the Darkwings herself, Serissa. The rebel leader offered the young Lucain a large salary (she knew true talent when she saw it) as well as a comfortable home and the protection of the rest of the group. Believing that this was the calling which she had been born to serve, Aerowyn took up her mantle as the top fighter amongst Serissa’s ranks. She quickly earned the respect of her colleagues and became one of the leader’s most prized warriors.
A servant of Serissa’s, she believes that she was born to serve as a fighter in the Mekkayena’s forces. Her pelt closely resembles the coloration and scheme of a combat uniform, which led to her foster parents’ belief that her calling in life was battle. Years of combat and training have toned her form, making her lean and agile like a cat, yet stronger than she appears. She excels in archery and hand-to-hand combat, and is rarely seen in her human form without her bow and quiver of Turkezilla-fletched arrows. She is also proficient in most other forms of combat, but none of them rival her mastery of the bow and hand-to-hand combat. She does not know why she fights, but she has never needed to question fate, so she simply obeys Serissa’s commands without questioning or doubt as any other concepts were never given the chance to grow as a child. Her personality is simple, one-faceted, but extremely driven and independent. It seems as if under her tough outer shell, there is a layer of kindness and compassion lying just beneath her skin that has yet to be touched upon or tapped by another.

About: The first AI created by the MMO companies (and arguably the least intricate programming-wise), AggRO was designed to attack the opposing MMO by crippling it from the client side. Her initial function, as her name suggests, was to overload the player's RAM, crashing programs running on the computer and eventually the entire system. This was highly effective and went untreated for several weeks before L.E.K.S.A. was developed to counter AggRO, and while the malware's programming allowed her to learn and adapt to some degree to the new challenge, she wasn't quite sophisticated enough to circumvent the security AI's defense systems.

The introduction of Cici turned the tide for a while as she worked in tandem with AggRO, but eventually, her code was corrupted by L.E.K.S.A., removing the two-pronged advantage that the viruses had boasted. It was very soon after that the two MMO companies merged, rendering the AIs without purpose, and AggRO was simply left to fade away in a buried file somewhere in the company archives. However, during the course of her active time, AggRO had infiltrated numerous other servers and made copies of herself scattered about the internet, so she is no longer bound to the original server from whence she came.

These days, she functions similarly to how she did when she was in use, wreaking havoc simply for the sake of it upon MMO players. She has learned to cloak her activities to some degree (due to the fact that several backup copies of her code were deleted when people discovered she still existed), and now spends much of her time glitching games, making bosses/mob unkillable, deleting items out of inventories, corrupting environmental texture and objects, messing with physics engines, and other such inconveniencing activities. Personality-wise, she's a mixture of devious and somewhat quick to anger, but that's just a by-product of her programming. She's well-aware of the world outside of MMOs, but seeing as it's the only world she's known, she tends to stick to what is familiar to her.

About: How often do you remember the faces of every person you walk past on the street? To be honest, you could probably walk past the same person several times before you noticed even the vaguest detail about them, right? However, spend a day with that person, and you’ll likely be able to recognize them for a good while, right? Well, here’s the thing; Alethea happens to not be one of those people. You could spend hours, days, months, and even years with her, but as soon as you turn around, she’s a complete stranger once again. Literally, you wouldn’t even remember having ever seen or spoken to her, even if you were having a conversation with her just minutes ago. You see, Alethea happens to be a goddess of sorts, but not the kind you and I are used to hearing about. She is one of seven sisters who make up what is known to us as The Seven Deadly Sins, and likens more to a deity that has fallen out of the grace of the gods.

While she walks amongst mortals likes any normal person, she is actually an immortal, and is doomed to live with the curse which has been cast upon her and her sisters for the rest of eternity. As a goddess, her vice had always been that she had been too proud for her own good. She was beautiful, even by the standards of the gods, and not only did she know it all too well, she also used it to her advantage by manipulating mortals and immortals alike with her beauty. Ultimately, the gods decided to punish her for her wiles and cast her down with her sisters to walk amongst the mortals for the rest of time. However, that wasn’t all they did to punish her; they weren’t satisfied with simply exiling her, and nor would taking away her beauty be enough retribution, in their eyes. So instead, they let her keep her beauty, but instead, made it so that anyone who looked at her would instantly forget her again the moment they looked away.

For centuries, Alethea has lived with this torment, knowing that she could never had a friend in this world, nor would her beauty do her any good. She has learned to live with her affliction and blend in with humankind, which was not a difficult feat, considering no one remembered her anyways. The eons spent being ignored by all people alike has changed her personality greatly, and she is now considerably quieter and more demure than she once was, simply because she’s come to realize that any other type of personality wouldn’t make any difference at all. She tends to act just as unnoticeable as she is, and lives a lonely, solitary life, having lost any hope in possibly being saved from her curse.

About: Amphitrite was literally born of the sea, and since her creation, it has been her home, haven, and the only thing she knows of the world. She never once had to even step foot on land; she never saw a reason to, nor did she ever have the desire to. Being the goddess of the oceans, the sea was always her element, and she lived there for countless centuries, unseen by any living creature save perhaps for the occasional fish, and completely at one with her watery realm. Aside from having immortality as an advantage of being a deity of sorts, she also has complete control over the ocean, her powers ranging from things as seemingly inconsequential as manipulating tides and currents to devastating storms and tsunamis. For what seemed to her like a timeless eternity, she was content with her lot and more than happy to spend the rest of all time hidden amongst the surf.

However, as all things go, nothing stays the same, and what seemed like it would last forever changed in the blink of an eye. That day finally came about when, on a whim, she ventured close to the shoreline and chanced upon humans. It wasn’t the first time she had ever seen one; sure, they came out in their little boats every once in a while, but for the most part, she never got a close look at them, for they seemed content to just bob around on the surface of the water. Plus, she had no particular love for them, due to the harm and pollution they brought about with them that poisoned the pristine waters. Nonetheless, her curiosity finally got the better of her, and upon closer observation, she was surprised to find that their deep, complex natures and individual personalities were strangely fascinating, and that they ensnared her interest.

So, it was that day that she finally, for the first time, left the comforting familiarity of her domain, took on a human form, and stepped foot onto the sandy shore. Although she knew nothing of the ‘civilized world’, her curiosity made her a quick learner, and before long, she had learned to blend into society and live amongst the people. At the start, her visits were infrequent, and she could not go for long without returning to the ocean, her true home, once again. However, as time passed, her stays grew longer and longer, her returns becoming gradually less and less frequent, until she spent considerably more time amongst humans than she did at sea. Now, she is almost just as home on land as she is at, sea, but still, she occasionally abandons her human form to return to the ocean, leaving behind all of the fetters of society to be herself once again.

Amphitrite is possibly one of the most graceful, compassionate, and soft-spoken people you will ever meet. Perhaps it is due to the fact that she is a goddess, or because she has spent her whole life in the ocean, or perhaps a combination of both. With long, flowing navy hair, a striking complexion, gentle aquamarine eyes, and a fluid, musical voice, she seems to almost embody the element of water itself in how she carries herself and everything she does. She seems to always be ready with a smile and a kind word, no matter whether the person is a friend or a complete stranger. As for what she does, she generally occupies herself with whatever happens to catch her fancy at the time, and seems eager to try just about anything and everything humans are capable of doing, flitting from one profession or activity to another as she fancies. However, despite her sweet nature and undying curiosity, she still has some issues with grasping certain details of culture and society; after all, she is still relatively new to this whole world away from her own. Nonetheless, she is more than happy to learn and try new things, as long as there is someone patient enough to take the time and teach her.

About: Of Miriam and Raven’s four children, Arcelia is most definitely one of the sweetest and most innocent (especially when compared to her much darker and more brooding twin brother). Between her parents, she takes most closely after her mother, being a bubbly and vivacious young woman with a mind of her own. In fact, she was a rather rambunctious handful of a toddler while growing up; like her twin, she was born with her own unique set of abilities, albeit hers were considerably “cuter” in many ways, and she wasn’t in the least shy about using them. Likely her most troublesome one was her ability to basically ignore the effects of gravity (or rather, shift it to other objects, more specifically). This odd ability only applied to her (meaning that she couldn’t alter the environments of any other people), but she very liberally used it to literally ‘bounce off the walls’, if not the ceiling, which made bedtime a chore and a half for her poor parents.

An extremely bubbly and optimistic individual, she has grown into sweet, beautiful young woman who is quite confident in herself and her abilities. Her parents made sure to teach her well in the ways of fending for herself, and those coupled with her innate superhuman speed, senses, and reflexes (the perks of being a vampire), she has grown to be quite capable of handling herself. While she has retained the ability to walk on walls – now more useful as a tool as well as a neat parlor trick – she has also gained the ability of seduction. Naturally, most vampires have the ability to bend mortals (to varying degrees) to their will, at least in the sense of making themselves seem more attractive or alluring. However, while these abilities are generally mild and passive in nature, Arcelia is capable of actively seducing her prey (or any other individual, for that matter), which made for some…rather awkward times with her family when her new abilities were first blossoming.

Now that she’s coming of the age when she’s about ready to be independent (although she loves her family dearly, and isn’t averse to staying with them for the time being), she’s seeking a life of her own, although at the time being, she still has no clue as to what she actually wants to do with her life. She is determined to live by her belief that every day should be lived to the fullest, and doesn’t shy away from things that might be risky or dangerous. After all, despite her appearance of being a sweet, innocent young woman, her vampiric nature means that she has inherent streak for danger in her soul and is less afraid of the hazards that life has to offer than any normal mortal might.

About: This little fellow may look like he’s made of all mean, but in reality, his looks have more bark than they do bite. He is completely silent, either lacking the ability for human speech, or simply chooses not to use it. The few, extremely rare times he has chosen to communicate have been through thoughts, and not speech, although it is not uncommon to hear him vocalize through various chirps. He seems to be a bit of a drifter, not really attached to any particular other at the Estate, but he likes the company of others, and is content to sit on a shoulders for hours on end, if undisturbed. His demeanor differs a considerable amount from others of his species, as he is not keen on attacking anything and everything in sight, but instead, seems to be extremely curious, perhaps too much so. Someone constantly has to keep an eye on him, otherwise, he has the amazing ability to get himself into any and every single sticky situation he could possibly shove his little snout into.

Notes:

About: Asteria is a goddess of guidance and light, the counterpart to her darker and less benevolent brother. She is also the keeper of the stars, and provides counsel and guidance to people in need in any and all situations, both in physical and mental manifestations. Her ability to take on countless forms allows her to work her way into any and all walks of life with the intent to nudge people back on track and keep them from straying too far from their paths (usually due to her brother's more malevolent ‘advice’). She is the voice of reason and the source of inhibitions, a Northern Star of the conscience. However, she is not limited to whispering in people's thoughts - she is also capable of manifesting herself in many physical forms as well, such as light, celestial bodies, or even something as diminutive as a firefly. She brings the stars out each night and can sometimes be seen dancing across the sky in the form of shooting stars.

Personality-wise, she is again the counterpart to her brother: where he is dark, reckless, and apathetic, she is equally kind, gentle, and sweet. A person who cares for nothing more in the world than the well-being of others, it is her personal goal to try and guide people towards lives that are happier, healthier, and more fulfilling. Of course, she doesn't always succeed on those with the strongest wills to defy her, but for the most part, she single-handedly keeps the world a relatively decent place in which to reside. Despite the darkness which exists across the universe, she seems to always be able to find some kind of silver lining and make the most of it. While she can be somewhat reserved, she is also naturally bubbly, vivacious, and cheerful, but it is a part of her personality which she usually makes a point of keeping in check. After all, she believes that it is not 'proper' for a goddess of her position and stature to act as childishly as her heart might otherwise desire.

Very few people actually know her history and lineage - even she herself has not learned that information. Since as long as she can remember, she was raised by Callistani, along with the motherly goddess's own children. The only relative she knows is her twin brother, Arktos, and search as they might, they've never been able to find their birth parents. If Callistani knew anything, she never told them, no matter how much they pestered her about it as children. Clearly, they had to have been of divine breeding judging by their powers and stature, but no one on the council knows anything of their past either. Their father is actually Velius, none other than the king of the gods himself, but for reasons he’s kept to himself (and very personal ones, at that), he has never revealed his identity to his children, although he has made sure that every want and need of theirs was seen to while they grew up. Their mother was a mysterious woman from a faraway land with command over the powers of darkness, although the only darkness in her heart was that placed there by the unkindnesses done to her by others in her past. With no one else to call their own, the two twins grew up extremely close to one another, and have been so ever since birth. It is without a doubt that both would be willing to give up their lives for the other.

About: Astraea is not your average 25-year-old. To be completely truthful, she’s 54. How? Not because she ages particularly slowly, or because she uses anti-aging lotion. No, Astraea is a vampire. On that note, she is not your average vampire. The measure of “averageness”, though, all depends on perspective, and after all, there is simply nothing average about a vampire. Sleeping in coffins, harboring a mortal fear of garlic/crosses/holy water/sunlight/what-have-you, and having sparkly skin…well, that’s all absolute nonsense. If you’re basing your vampire-recognition on those few measures, well, my friend…then you’re in trouble. Astraea happens to be a bounty hunter, a mercenary, a hired hand, whatever is required of her, and a darned good one at that. Relatively well-known for her capabilities, she is respected for her skills, although people treat her with a healthy measure of caution. Why? Well, there’s something of a catch to her services, a ‘bad habit’, if you will. You see, on occasion she’s had the tendency to kill her client for her own, unspoken reasons, regardless of whether or not she let their victims run free.
So, therein lies the problem. It turns out that the government has a bit of a problem with her…methods. She’s seen as something of a “liability” to the safety of the general public, and one that needs to be neutralized as quickly and efficiently as possible. Up until now, their efforts have been futile, although not for lack of trying. Every agent they’ve sent, lackey they’ve hired, bounty hunter they’ve commissioned, have all either gone missing or turned up dead. One would think that they would have gotten the idea by now, but for the sum that’s been placed on her head, there are still people willing to try. Of course, the government’s intel on her is very sketchy at best, which might explain why she’s spent so many years on their Wanted list. For example, they have no idea that she’s a vampire, that she has an uncanny knack for knowing when someone is lying or telling the truth, or that she has the ability to heal inhumanly quickly. There is a catch to all of her abilities though: when determining the truthfulness of someone’s statement, she can only tell whether or not that person thinks they’re telling the truth. So, it is possible to lie to her if you believe what you’re saying is true, when in reality, it isn’t. Also, her ability to heal can be both a blessing and a curse: like any normal person, she can bleed, and, like any normal person, she can be killed. Any type of injury that would finish off a human is fatal to her as well. That is, of course, if you can get past the unnaturally quick reflexes and inhuman speed. Nonetheless, her capability of healing almost as quickly as she is injured can be turned against her – for one, it makes for a rather handy form of torture, as she has retained the ability to feel pain. She has the scars to show for it.
Appearance-wise, she’s something of a mix between human and vampire. Her complexion is very fair, although not to point of being pasty or unnaturally so, and her skin is slightly cool to the touch, although that can change with her moods, just like any normal person. With dark, chocolate brown hair and startlingly blue eyes, she is especially alluring to the weak-minded, which makes hunting all the easier for her. Like any other vampire, she depends on human blood for sustenance, but does not have to wait for the cover of darkness to make her move. As for her personality, she is generally cool, composed, and even-tempered, which makes her hard to provoke, but push the wrong buttons and she has the tendency of going off like a shot. This has come to be seen as unpredictability, but in reality, it is simply because she has a way of masking her emotions and the fact that she has a rather skewed sense of morals. She does not trust any person, living or otherwise, and her loyalty lies to herself and Syria alone. Not sure if you can keep up with her? Don’t try. It just might cost you your life.

History: What would ever possess a person to voluntarily become a vampire? The thirst for power? The desire for immortality? Well, none of these are the cause for Astraea’s decision to be changed. Her choice was based on her history, one that she’s shared with no one but Syria.
Up until one day, 29 years ago, Astraea had been an agent for the government. Before then, she’d been your average, run-of-the-mill young woman: fresh out of college and looking for a career. Ironically, it was then that she discovered her knack for telling truth from deception when she caught her boyfriend of four years cheating on her. As expected, she had her share of heartbreak, but being as resilient as she was, she picked herself up and moved on with her life fairly quickly, and soon, she’d found her calling as an officer working in a police department. Her uncanny ability as a lie-detector made her perfect for the job, and for the next few years, she was quite content with her lot in life. It was during active service that she met the man that would one day be her husband, and within the year, they were married. Together, they settled down in a house of their own, although they both continued to serve on the police force as a two-person team of their own. It was around then that she came across Syria, at that time a kitten that was being prepared to be put down, as she’d been deemed too ‘dangerous’ and ‘unpredictable’ to be kept as a house-pet, and therefore a threat to the petstore owner’s business if he sold her. Astraea took in the baby Khimera, and despite the man’s warning, Syria grew up to be a faithful companion and extremely dedicated to her new family.
Of course, all good things must come to an end, sooner or later, and unfortunately for Astraea, it turned out to be much sooner than she would have expected, or had been prepared for. Being in the police force comes with its hazards, and both she and her husband knew that very well, but as the story goes, they never thought that anything could happen to them. As it is, reality is only real to the people who’ve lived through it. It was during a tour of duty that her picturesque life was shot to pieces, and quite literally. While on a mission to neutralize a target, it turned out that they’d been expected, and that their objective had a lot more company, armed company, than they’d anticipated. The waiting gang had fired several rounds at them from a distance before taking off, not wanting to wait around for back-up to arrive at the scene. Astraea’s partner, husband, and companion was killed on the spot, but that wasn’t the worst of it, not by a long shot. She’d been hit seriously as well, two shots to the abdomen, but the rescue squad had arrived in time to get her to help, which ultimately saved her life. It was not her life that Astraea was most concerned about though: it was the lives that were taken that night. Her husband’s…and that of her unborn child. She had been pregnant at the time (although hardly visibly so), and inevitably, she miscarried, leaving her completely ripped of a family.
After that night, she was never the same again. She was extremely reclusive during her period at the hospital, and after she was released, she never showed up to work again. It was assumed that she’d gone AWOL, but no one had ever thought that she would go rogue. When they checked her house, a week or so afterwards, she was nowhere to be found, and neither was Syria. No one heard from her again.
Whether it was a day, a week, a month, or a year or more after she was released from the hospital, Astraea wasn’t sure. It was sometime then that she chanced across a woman that would change her life, again. The woman’s name was Juliette, and she was a vampire. Astraea willingly chose to be converted, to no longer be human, perhaps to rid herself of the pain of grief. Her plan worked, at least for a little while. During the first few days, the pain and the murderous thirst dominated her every moment, and it was only with Syria’s help that she didn’t completely lose her sanity during those few days. She got over that first stage unusually quickly though, and learned to harness her abilities much faster than most other young vampires. It made her a deadly, efficient hunter, and gave her the edge that any other bounty hunter would envy. The first kill that she made that would lead to her 29-year career? The men who had destroyed her world, just a few nights before.

About: When Auricomous, better known to her friends simply as “Auri”, appeared in Evelon, she was accompanied by an equally otherworldly-looking companion, the Hollowheart Galatea. The two are an inseparable pair, and as long as one of them is around, you can be sure that her companion is not far off. Auri is undoubtedly a very bright and passionate soul, and despite her somewhat diminutive size, she has a heart of gold, and would be more than willing to give her life for the happiness and well-being of another. She understands the misfortune of those who have been cast off at the wayside of life, for she, like many others, had been orphaned as a kit and subjected to the same pitiless sufferings that had turned many another creature bitter with spite and vengeance for an unjust fate. She, on the other hand, took her past as a life lesson, and instead of wanting to inflict the same agony upon another, she would rather use her powers to somehow make a change for the better in the world. She cannot bear to see another individual suffer, and would do everything within her ability to alleviate their misery, whatever their history might be.

About: A very unique individual, to say the least, Belladonna was always fiercely independent from a young age, and fought to preserve her autonomy as soon as she learned how to walk and talk. Never one to allow her life to be dominated by any person, regardless of age and status, her parents asserted that she had always been free-spirited, and in spite of their efforts, they confessed that they never could control her or her actions. Through school, Bella remained a solidly indomitable individual, undeterred by her teachers’ attempts to conquer her “freebird” personality, which naturally made her looked-up to by her fellow classmates. After several fruitless tries, her parents gave her up as a “hopeless case”, but it was a status that suited the young Bella just fine. Despite the fact that she was always surrounded by friends and admirers, her closest friend and confidant was always her sister, Lark: In spite of their radically different personalities, the twins shared as close a bond as there could exist between two people.
Leaving home early, she wanted to be free of the shackles of living with her parents, deciding to have a go at making it on her own, trying her luck out in the real world. Music was a passion which she had always harbored, a pursuit which she held as dear to her as her own sovereignty. Renting out a small apartment in the city, she found a calling for herself down at the local pub just a few blocks from her new home, where she took her place as a resident performer. Throughout this period of her life, she still maintained close contact with her sister, who was currently enrolled in college, in the process of getting a degree in medicine. Making enough to support herself, she was content with the life which she had made, and became an accepted part of the community, where everyone knew her by face and name.

Highly self-driven from a young age, Bella is fervently protective of her independence and is quite proud of the fact that she is capable of supporting herself in the “real world”. Naturally, she abhors the feeling of needing anything from anyone but herself, as she sees dependence upon others as a weakness, and ultimately, a fatal flaw. A very frank person, she always speaks her mind, and is very self-confident, and generally seems comfortable in her own skin. She also has the reputation of being an accomplished flirt, and has a way of getting what she wants. This isn’t to say that she’s ‘crude’ though - It’s actually quite the contrary: Being so fiercely self-reliant, it would be going against every moral fiber in her being to sink to so low a level. Although she’s well-versed in the art of being coquettish, she has never let herself grow close to any person, the only exception being Lark. Perhaps it is rooted in a fear of commitment…no one, not even her sister, knows. She’s the kind of person who needs her space, but at the same time, struggles with her own disconnection and lack of understanding of her own emotions.
For someone so “free-spirited”, she is surprisingly organized, and loves neatness. Her apartment is always clean, and despite its small size, always seems fresh and open, due to her own redecorating. Besides orderliness, there are only a few other things that she truly loves: First is her music – she is very deeply involved with music (it is her means of living, after all) and the arts. Secondly, and perhaps even more strongly, she adores her twin sister, Lark. Through the course of her whole life, there is yet to be a single person who has been able to “pin her down”, but if there’s one person who has any influence on Bella, it’s her sister. Lark is the only person who she seems willing to listen to, and at the same time, Bella is ferociously protective of her gentler sister. She wants to protect Lark’s innocence from the harsh realities of the “real world” even though she knows that her sibling has seen plenty of ghastly visions of the wounded, sick and dying. She’s seen people die before her eyes, and saved even more, but Bella feels that it’s her duty to shield her from the crime and hatred which take place outside of the pristine, orderly limits of the hospital walls.

About: Bijou is possibly the most independent woman you’ll ever meet. This trait originates most likely from the fact that she harbors a deep-seated disdain, if not unconditional hatred, for men of all ages, sizes, and walks of life. She believes that every single man, bar none, is the same by nature; unreliable, deceitful, fickle, and altogether unnecessary in a woman’s life. In fact, it would appear that she believes the world would be better off without any individuals of the male gender at all. Of course though, like any other woman, she can’t help but toy with them on occasion, just for kicks. Tall, dark, and striking, she’s attractive and she knows it, and will not hesitate to use that to her advantage should the situation arise. She’s not above flirting with and teasing men, only to leave them hanging, which is something of a sport for her. More often than not though, she’s as likely to either ignore you or snap at you if you happen to be unfortunate enough to be of the male persuasion.

Bijou lives alone in her own flat which, of course, she bought with her own money. If there’s anything that she absolutely hates, it’s the feeling of being dependent on or indebted to any individual, male or female. She supports herself by working as a bartender at the local pub, and has been saving up in the hopes of one day having a studio of her own. After all, music is her best friend in the solitary life she leads, and she is almost never seen without her iPod and the headphones either over her ears or around her neck. When not on shift, she can usually be found at one of her favorite haunts around town, headphones on and apparently oblivious to the world around her.

As surprising (or not) as it might be, the mysterious young woman hadn’t always held a firm grudge towards men. In fact, as most deeply ingrained animosities go, she had it hammered into her at a young age: Bijou’s father died when she was only an infant, far too early for her to have more than just hazy memories of him. Less than a year later, her mother had remarried to another man. Bijou’s step-father was not only irresponsible, but a drunkard, and more often than not, an extremely violent man. The young girl saw her mother receive the brunt of his drunken wrath more than once, and on occasion, had suffered through bouts of his rage herself. Needless to say, as she grew up, the resentment she felt towards him simmered and gathered heat, building up to an inevitable tipping point. One night, when Bijou was about 18-years-old, she saw her mother endure a particularly brutal attack, and it was then and there that she decided that she would have to act before her mother was seriously hurt. She was determined that no matter what ends she would have to go to, she would protect her family from harm. When her mother found out about this though, she turned on her daughter and threatened to call the police on her for threatening the man that she loved. Stunned and hurt, Bijou left to find a life of her own, although the repercussions of her mother’s betrayal still remain with her to this day. Since she left, she has never seen or heard from either her mother or her step-father, and she does not plan on doing so ever again.

About: Growing up, Cadenza was the kind of kid who was good at most everything she tried her hand at, yet at the same time, never really excelled in anything. It wasn’t that she wasn’t hard-working…she just didn’t seem to have the “knack” for any specific area of talent. Coming from a family of world-renowned performers, she was expected, from a young age, to follow in her parents’ footsteps and take up the performing arts as her livelihood. At the beginning, things seemed to be going well; her teachers believed that she had a gift for captivating an audience and that she would make her living as a dancer. It took only a few years of frustration for them to give her up as a hopeless case when her improvement hit a standstill, and no matter how hard she trained, she didn’t seem physically able to progress further than the level of expertise she had reached. Soon, having found no new talent in their daughter, her parents seemed to distance themselves from her as well.
Another aspect of living with performers was the fact that as a family, they were always on the move, doing one performance on one side of the continent, then being shipped over to the other in a single night. Needless to say, they never truly settled down anywhere, and the young Cadenza, having no single place to call home, or even a school to attend regularly, was given no opportunity to make friends. She was shunned by the highly-competitive performers’ children, and having no other place to go, found refuge within herself. It was then that the seeds of the shyness and lack of self-esteem were planted in her soul, twin shadows that would follow her for the rest of her life. She wasn’t dumb; she knew that she didn’t fit in, and that she lacked the certain something that every other kid seemed to have. That one talent which raised them above the rest. Then, one event took place which would drastically change the course of her life.
It took place during one of her parents’ huge, once-in-a-lifetime, international tours - to Cadenza, simply one of the many shows that was completely blown out of proportion in comparison to their other performances. In celebration of the wonderful season, her parents had invited several very important guests to what was debatably the world’s best restaurant, and they had all settled down for what was making out to be a scrumptious five-course meal. In her place, any other young girl would have been witless with excitement, but to Cadenza, this was all part of her routine: No, it wasn’t that she was spoiled and was used to this kind of pampering…it was more of something that she put up with. Tonight though, she must have seemed more dejected than usual though, for the maitre-d’ of the restaurant came up to her during the pre-dinner talk, and discreetly invited her back into the huge room which served as a kitchen for the restaurant. With an absentminded “okay” from her parents, she made her way away from all of the ludicrous pomp and regalia back into the hot hustle and bustle of kitchen life. For a few minutes, all she could do was gape at everything going on back here: It looked like an anthill that had been kicked over – everyone was everywhere, washing vegetables, cutting meat, stirrings stew, sautéing greens. If anything could be done to a morsel of food to make it more palatable and aesthetically pleasing, it was being done here. As  cliché as the phrase might sound, it was certainly love at first sight for the young woman, and for the rest of the evening, she spent her time in the kitchen, observing, learning, and even trying her hand at helping out with some of the simpler tasks. She was delighted to find that everything felt natural to her, as if she had been born with a gift for this kind of life, a belief which she still stands by today.
From there, her cooking career took off; It certainly wasn’t a direction which her parents had forseen (or hoped) her life would go in, but they supported her, if somewhat reluctantly. Wanting to get away from her parents and those who recognized her, she traveled the world, eventually coming upon the lovely world of Evelon, a place where she felt at home. She soon set up shop Nabias with a small restaurant of her own, but mostly, she specializes in baked goods and sweets.

Cadenza is every bit as sweet as she looks: She is extremely shy, but in a way which allows people to still be comfortable around her. Due to a childhood spent without a fixed home, she doesn’t have very much self-confidence, and often second-guesses herself. She can also be very indecisive, and will correct herself, even if she is right. The only thing that she has absolute confidence in is her cooking – she has never prepared a dish short of perfection. Exceedingly generous, she is just a true sweetheart hiding in her shell of lacking self-esteem. She adores the ocean and everything about it, from the waves down to the sand and shells. She also loves scents of all sorts, expressed by her love of scented candles, which she has a small collection of.

About: Chardonnay was taken in mere days after birth: Flame had received a cryptic cassette tape in one of the giftboxes she had gotten that year, and heeding the note attached, had paid a visit to the small, somewhat dingy pet store tucked away in a corner in the city. Every other store had been closed for Christmas Eve, and the storeowner of the pet store was just locking up when the young woman came jogging around the corner, clutching a voice recorder and a small paper note. At the door, she was handed a small basket cushioned with pillows and covered with a blanket and told to return home immediately before “the little tyke caught its death from the cold” out in the blustery weather.
Only after returning home did she open the basket to find a tiny little puppy curled up amongst the cushions. A yellow-green bow was tied around its neck, and attached to it was a tiny note which read “Spread the love and warmth this season, Merry Christmas.” She had flipped the little card over in hopes of perhaps a name or address, but alas, it was blank. Nonetheless, she unhesitatingly took the little Dalma in, raising it as one of her own “children”, feeding the little soul with plenty of love and care daily.
The Dalma, who turned out to be female, was dubbed “Chardonnay”, both for the silky softness of her uniquely spotted coat, although Champagne came up as a possibility as well for her inherently bubbly personality (the mistress thought it didn’t have the same ‘ring’ to it). Better known as Chard or Donna, her animated persona never diminished as she grew up, and to this day, she is still just as lively as ever. She has the hyper energy of a 5-year-old after Halloween, and for many years, keeping her from turning wrecking ball and bringing the estate down was a chore enough for all of the members of the big “family”. Then, she discovered dance. First, it was music, an art which so fully caught her attention that she would become focused solely on the one song that was playing. That bottled up energy would eventually catch up with her though, and before she knew it, she was dancing. At least, if it could be called dancing, her first couple of attempts. Flame paid for dance lessons, and soon, the young Donna was hooked. Ballet, hiphop, jazz, modern, lyrical, freestyle…she did it all. She found joy in every form of dance that existed, and strove to master each.
Now, at 19, she performs professionally on stage for audiences at all sorts of events. Her love for dance has never waned over the years, although she herself has matured (still energetic though) and her style has become more advanced. She is very open and loving towards all people, due to the care she received while growing up, and adores conversation. She also enjoys activities such as outdoor sports and thrills such as roller-coasters and skydiving (which she has yet to try). Her motto is to “live every day like it’s your last”.

About: Cici was created to be the silent counterpart to AggRO, after L.E.K.S.A.'s introduction. Her purpose was much less outwardly evident, as it was her task to collect information from the background and identify weaknesses in L.E.K.S.A.'s programming as well as the targeted MMO's coding. As such, she is a much quieter and mistrusting AI than AggRO, but unlike her more aggressive 'sister', there is no ill-intent behind her actions (whatever the final outcome of them may be). Her job was essentially to observe and report, then direct AggRO's attacks.

Unfortunately for Cici, it was during one of their last clashes with L.E.K.S.A. that her own code was corrupted by the security AI, crippling much of her functionality. If the two MMO companies had continued their feud, there is no question that her code would have been repaired, but due to the merger, Cici and AggRO were both swept under the rug (in their current conditions) as the company saw no more use for them.

Unlike AggRO, Cici has not gained the same independence from her original server, where her code is still currently hosted. As such, she's currently still bound to the same MMO, but generally manifests as an NPC (or occasionally a player character). However, due to her glitchy coding, she can commonly be found either auto-running into a wall, or farming a starter zone with a full inventory. Personality-wise, she is just as shy and mistrusting as she was when she was fully-functional, and if anything, those traits have only been magnified by her broken programming. However, she's not malicious at the heart of her code, and is simply lost and trapped within the cage which she was put in by her creators. She's curious about the world outside of her MMO, but doesn't have the means to escape it, nor the confidence to abandon what is familiar to her (although she occasionally tries to follow AggRO around).

About: Corvina is a test subject of one of Serissa’s mad experiments. Of all the trials which have occurred to date, she also happens to be one of the most successful tests and now also functions as one of the facility’s most important tools. She is, first and foremost, a weapon, and a dangerous one at that. Her abilities in combat are unmatched in the field by friend and foe alike, abilities which some might even go as far as to call ‘superhuman’. That’s because what sets her apart from the crowd is indeed beyond simple human capabilities. In short, Corvina has a spirit of a demon fused to her soul, meaning that there are literally two entities residing in her body. Similar trials had been conducted on many before her, but none had lasted for more than a day or two before either going entirely insane, catatonic, or committing suicide. In fact, the success with this young woman was nothing short of a freak miracle. Perhaps it was due to her strength of will, stubbornness, or perhaps just the innate bloodlust which already existed within her before the operation was even conducted.

Normally, having one person in one skull is more than enough for most people; two people in one head would drive even the most resilient of people mad, and if one of them were to be a sadistic demon crazed with an insatiable bloodlust…well, needless to say Corvina’s existence isn’t a stroll through a meadow of sunshine and daisies. However, her unique character composition has allowed her to coexist with her ‘roommate’, who calls himself Leurre, a relationship which is rocky at best and downright dangerous (to herself as well as those around her) at worst. She has the ability to turn her body entirely over to the demon, but it is an option which she very rarely resorts to, as much as she can avoid it. Being fused to a demon does come with its distinct advantages though – on top of giving her a sharp edge in combat, it heightens her senses, and makes her stronger, faster, more capable of enduring pain, and more resilient in general. These effects are multiplied a hundred-fold when Leurre is in the driver’s seat though, not to mention the fact that he also brings ridiculous fast healing capabilities to the table, but when he takes control, Corvina literally loses all capacity to rein him in, and essentially has to take a backseat in her own mind until he finally decides to turn the wheel back over to her.

Corvina’s job basically entails handling the muscle work for the facility, at least when it comes to combat jobs which require any kind of finesse. She is cold and without mercy when need be, and follows her orders without question. Basically for Serissa, Corvina came as a happy upgrade to the traitorous predecessor who held the position before her (who had defected merely a few months beforehand). Generally the ‘shoot first and ask questions later’ type, anyone crossing her had better be sure that they’re not on her list before doing so.

It’s just that she’s not a very social individual and prefers solitude over company, due to the fact that people tend to irritate her very quickly. On a good day, she might tolerate you for a while, but more often than not, she tires of being nice, and ends up wandering off on her own again anyways.

About: Des is not your typical pompous, full-of-himself actor: quite the contrary, actually. A relatively quiet and good-natured man, the only time he ever raises his voice or gets outwardly mad or upset is on the set, and even then, only if his role calls for it. A gentle, courteous, and generous individual, he was the one to take Eva under his wing when he found her struggling to make it on her own in the world, and in the years that have gone by since then, they’ve become an inseparable team, and a formidable duo in the movie industry. As for their team dynamics, Eva is usually the one who does most of the talking, press releases, interviews and the such, seeing as she has a knack with people and crowds. Des provides the solid base for their team, and also plays bodyguard to his female counterpart. After all, Eva does occasionally have a knack for getting herself into sticky situations, although they’ve yet to come across one a little show of force couldn’t resolve. Given the choice though, Des would rather resolve issues peacefully, which is usually how most of their disputes are resolved, as despite the fact he may look rather intimidating, Des is the kind of person who will give respect where it’s due. Given that you pay him the proper respect first, of course.

Her brother received the less generous end of the stick when they were born, so Ebony does most of the thinking, while Pyro is simply a “man of action”. She and her brother have a natural knack for spying and going places where they’re not supposed to be without being detected, which makes them invaluable to Serissa. Related Characters: Dr. Torquil Donovan
Human Form: Link
Notes: Donovan has kept her, as well as his whole scheme, a secret from Serissa. To him, this is personal business, in which Serissa has no part.

About: What comes to mind when the word “Frankenstein” comes up? Nuts, bolts, and odds and ends? What about a beautiful, intelligent young woman who could pass for a “normal” person anyday? A new twist on an old tale, that is exactly what Echo is: She is the ‘daughter’ of the mad Dr. Donovan, his latest, and proudest creation yet. You see, several years ago, he had made quite a remarkable discovery, when he came across his first Clone. Being a doctor, it didn’t take long for him to figure out the truth about the replicas, and soon after that, the implications that getting his hands on the secret to genetic duplication could have. To him, the concept of immortality, even in this somewhat twisted fashion, was a dream beyond his imagination: After learning how fragile life was after losing his wife in a car accident years ago, the possibilities provided him with a vision, and a new life’s mission. First though, he needed the information which would allow him to proceed with his plans, and he had to find a way to pry it out of the hands of its rightful owners. Initially, he had taken the task on himself, but after being discovered and exposed, his chances had been shattered. At least, until now.

Finally, after years of slaving over developing her “prototype” and actually creating her, he has finally completed what he sees as his ‘masterpiece’ out of all the work he has done in his career, more significant even than his restoration of Serissa. A living, breathing compilation of science and real life, Echo is the first, and likely will be the only one of her kind, but Donovan believes that she is more than capable of carrying through with his plans. At last, he could see his designs coming to fruition, and he spared no detail in her creation.

To the outside world, the young woman seems to be just that: A young woman. Nothing, and it seems no one, can discern between her and a ‘real’ person. The only difference? During her creation, Donovan never gave her a heart. Instead, it is the only robotic apparatus within her body, a machine which emulates the sound of a beating heart and serves the same purpose, in that it keeps blood flowing through her veins, but it doesn’t actually have a pulse. Through an ingenious design, it is the only part of her which he needs to fully control her thoughts and actions. In her creation, Donovan gave her superior artificial intelligence, which gives her the ability to rival, if not surpass, the bounds of human intelligence alone. Likewise though, she doesn’t actually have emotions of her own: Instead, she can compute, then reproduce a replica of having feelings. Thus, she has the ability to carry through with her “father”’s orders, no matter how brutal, without feeling an inkling of remorse, which makes her an extremely deadly weapon. Her design also gives her highly developed senses and reflexes, as well as a natural athletic tendency, as, due to her mechanical “heart”, she does not tire easily, although she can still be winded.

An almost viciously fast learner, it took less time for Donovan to train her than it would to raise a clone, even with their accelerated rate of growth and development. Learning rapidly from her teacher, then simply through her own mistakes, she is deadly with a gun, and also skilled with heavy artillery and machinery. Hand-to-hand combat comes in as a close second, whether it’s with or without a weapon. In creating her though, Donovan took no risks, as he placed several precautionary measures on her, as well as numerous functions which would serve his purposes. First, he has absolute control over her thoughts and actions, and although she generally runs on something of an “auto-pilot”, he can intercede at any time to give a specific order or command. He can also see through her eyes, with what equipment he has linked to her, and can receive audio as well. Ultimately, he has the ability to simply shut her down with the touch of a button: How it works? No one knows except for himself. Also, as a final precaution, the metal cuffs which she wears on her arms and legs as well as her metal choker can actually constrict, on his command, and they also have the ability to send a powerful electrical charge through her body, which causes immense pain, not only to her, but to anyone who happens to be touching her as well.

During the process of her creation, Donovan had been busy at work, collecting as much information on the Clones and Mandalorian culture as he could. Inheriting this wealth of knowledge from her creator and father-figure, Echo, created to be the ultimate weapon which would finally fulfill his ambitions, was finally complete.

About: Eris is a tormented soul. However, outwardly, it would just seem that she is apathetic towards most everything in her life, although the opposite couldn’t be more true. After all, the things that she has experienced in her life are beyond the grasp of those she has met. In fact, they aren’t even of this world in origin. This is because Eris is actually a goddess…or at least, was. For all intents and purposes though, she lives as a mortal, if not by choice. There is nothing permanent in her life, drifting from city to city, town to town, lingering for no more than a few days or weeks at most before moving on. She lives her life quietly and unobtrusively, preferring to stay off the radar and keep to herself; she has an incredible knack for being completely and totally unmemorable, one of those faces which you’d never think to look twice at, and even if you did, she was gone before anyone could catch a second glance.

She doesn’t seem to have any particular purpose in life, and one might call her a ‘lost soul’, unknowing of just how ironically close to hitting home that description is. However, while her soul may be closer to the verge of damnation and any other that walks this world, her existence is not completely without purpose either. It is simply that there is nothing she can do about her predicament but to continue existing trapped in the dreary limbo commonly known as life, forever afraid, hoping, yet beyond hope that something…anything might one day change. It might be a bearable existence if it were not for three things, her immortality, her fear, and the abominable terms of her very existence. First her immortality: it wasn’t that she couldn’t die. Like any being (regardless of any deity stature), she was physically capable of dying. Hell, she was even capable of taking her own life, and she might have chosen such a fate if it were not for one thing: her fear.

No, it was not death that she feared. In her years, she had come to peace with the concept of death, even in being an immortal being, but there was one thing she feared more than death itself. Damnation. If there was a ‘heaven’ where she came from, there was most certainly a ‘hell’ as well, and there was a reservation there for her after her term in this world ended, of that she was sure. Hence, she was caught in the middle of an impasse with no way out. And to make things even more…”interesting”, there was one more term to her sentence. This, of the three, was without doubt, the most twisted of them all. It condemned her to a life of coldblooded murder. To prevent being thrown into eternal perdition, the condition was that she had to take the lives of others to buy her parole. Once she stopped, so did her life outside of the underworld. Of that, she was terrified. That was her burden to bear, on top of the guilt which had already resided within her heart since long before her walk on this mortal earth, and every death for which she was responsible only widened the rent in her conscience. Sure, she tried to be as just as she could in hopes of atoning for her past sins (although she knew that they were well beyond forgiveness), choosing other killers and mercy killings, but any kind of killing caused a wound which could not be healed by any mortal or immortal means.

Eris was once without guilt, a time so far gone that she couldn’t even recall it any more. There was a time when she led a life without fear, a life separate from the mortal world, amongst her own kind. However, a friendship led to secrets and guilt, and secrets led to betrayal. She once played secretkeeper for a god and friend, Velius, and now, she is forever trapped in that role, betrayed by the very being that she was protecting. Her deceit cost the life of an innocent, the payment that ultimately elevated Velius to the seat of ultimate power and cast her down into a life of eternal punishment, her usefulness exhausted, her powers stripped from her, the secret left to live and die with her.

In her true form, she has the form of a large, draconic, and almost serpentine wolf. Her pelt is velvety soft and jet black, shot through with startlingly bright patterns of swirling gold which almost seem to shift and move with their own volition. Her belly is armored with crimson plates, and two long, tapering horns adorn her angular head, which is partially masked by a gold helm. However, most notable is the ridge of flames that runs down the middle of her spine to the end of her tail, eternally dancing and flickering with the same fire that burns within her heart, and with a consistency that can range from warm velvet to the raging inferno of a wildfire. She can also take on the form of a Seraphent with the same markings, and last but not least, that of a young woman with jet black hair and bright gold eyes, the form in which she is currently trapped, as her powers are currently held prisoner inside a diamond necklace in the possession of Velius. Those powers also allow her to bend flame and shadow to her will, earning her the title of being the ‘Goddess of Chaos’.

She is a very calm, collected, and calculating individual that is dangerously accurate at reading and bending situations to her benefit. However, she has a pure, kind heart within, even if she is slow to trust (though she’s yet to find a mortal to gain it), due to her past experience with betrayal. Having a strong compass for morality and justice, she will intervene in situations if she is capable of moderating, which is ironic considering the ends to which she is forced to continue her own existence. She’s never beyond a kind deed though, and will often selflessly help mortals, as ‘inconsequential’ as they may seem to others of her origins. She can be, however, almost unreasonably stubborn when told that she can’t, or is incapable of doing something. Besides her morals, her pride is the only other thing which has remained unchanged since her fall from grace, and they are the only two codes which she lives by.

About: Confident, outgoing, and flirtatious, Eva is quite the diva. After all, these are traits crucial to a world of high-fashion, drama, and more often than not, other catty celebrities. Eva, along with her partner and close friend Desiderius, is an actress, and excels at what she does. She knows full well that it’s a dog-eat-dog world, and if you don’t have what it takes to make it big, you might as well pack your things and go home while you’re still ahead. As much as she plays the ditzy, air-headed, and not-so-bright girl, she’s actually a very practical and down-to-earth individual, a side of her personality which doesn’t necessarily get shown on the big screen. She also happens to be quite tenacious, and once she sets her mind on getting her way or accomplishing something, dissuading her can be…a challenge, to put it mildly. She knows a hopeless case when she sees one though, and does not waste time and energy on them when there are other things that she could be getting done.

Eva began with nothing, as many other celebrities have, and if it weren’t for Des, who was kind enough to take her under his wing, she likely would still be where she had started off today, instead of in the big spotlight. Because of her own past experience, she is an extremely empathetic individual, and will not hesitate to help a person in need. After all, her own career flourished out of the kindness of another; the least she can do is to pass on the generosity she received. Off of the set, Eva is generally a bubbly, cheerful individual and quite the social butterfly. With Des tailing her like a vigilant watchdog (which essentially, he is), she will strike up a conversation with just about anyone, flirt with the men at the bar, and all-in-all, bask in the glow of company. She’s a hard person to dislike, as her joie de vivre is quite contagious, making her a fun person to be around.

About: “They say bad things happen for a reason…” Well, at least that’s what they say. Farah is your average young woman; in her early twenties, pretty, a little on the shy side, warm-hearted, and as sweet as honey. She leads a pretty normal life – fresh out of her parents’ house and living on her own, hanging out with friends, looking for a job. Well, all except for one thing: she’s being hunted.

Now, most people on the run generally have a good reason to be doing so, and they know it, whether it’d be for murder, theft, treason, or any other range of crimes. Farah though, has never done anything unlawful, would never do or say anything to offend anyone, nor is she rich. Why then, you might ask, would she have such a large following of people looking to track her down and capture her? The simple answer is, for her blood. Yes, literally, her blood. You see, this young woman happens to have some very highly-unusual blood; it happens to have extremely powerful healing capabilities, making her a very valuable asset for any corporation to have. After all, who wouldn’t want to buy a product that could heal just about any wound or injury? Farah herself has no problem with helping to heal others, but the issue is that if she gave herself to testing, not only would it cause a great feud between the companies looking to ‘own’ her (and likely be the death of her somewhere down the road during ‘testing’), but also because she is against using something which she would willingly give freely to make a profit. Thus, she has spent the past several years of her life running from a broad spectrum of attempts to apprehend her. That’s not the end of her troubles either: not only does her blood have healing abilities, it also happens to be a strong vampire aphrodisiac, which makes the chase all the more dangerous for her.

Despite how unique her blood is, it has no special effect on Farah herself. For all intensive purposes, it is simply blood, and serves no other purpose for her, save earning her a following of people who would stop at nothing to own her. For this reason, the fear of what her pursuers might do to attain her and use her as a ‘cash cow’, she tends to shy away from getting too close to people, for she is afraid that they might get hurt should they be used as a weapon against her. Being so removed from society is painful for her, but she is more than willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the safety of others.

About: Fleur is a rather sheltered soul; having spent her entire life under the protection of her guardians, both her parents and now her faithful companion, Zodiac, she’s grown up rather isolated from the rest of the world, and can, at times, be blind to its darker side and its dangers. But for all her innocence, she also happens to have a very soft-hearted nature and is naturally trusting of almost anyone and everyone. She is as sweet as they come, which sometimes poses a bit of an issue for her protector, the Cyber Fellox, Zodiac, who was charged with her care when she left home to take on the world herself. Being almost stiflingly over-protective to make up for her trusting, almost child-like innocence, he has taken it upon himself to quash any danger that might pose itself to her safety, no matter how seemingly small and insignificant, and will quite readily fight it tooth and claw, if necessary. He’s somewhat paranoid when it comes to Fleur’s well-being, so it comes to reason that she doesn’t have as many friends as someone with her personality might or should have.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t stop her from happily chattering away to stranger that she might come across in public, at least until they get chased away by the over-zealous Zo. His presence alone tends to frighten off most people who might otherwise talk to her, but despite all that, Fleur remains a happy, cheerful soul who always seems to be ready with a smile and laugh. She believes that people ought not to dwell on the negative things in their life, and instead enjoy the good things and little triumphs that it offers instead. Always optimistic, she is always prepared to see the good in people, no matter who they are or what they’ve done. She thinks that all it takes is a little kindness, patience, and understanding to reach the heart of any person and get them to open up.

About: Loyal life-long companion to Auri, she acts almost as the little Kuhna’s conscience, or at least a warning when Auri goes a little…overboard with her “righteousness bravado”, as the Hollowheart likes to call it. She is considerably more level-headed and less likely to jump to actions without first thinking them through as the impulsive Kuhna, but she is equally kind and generous at heart as her counterpart, although she may seem a little more reserved about it. Personality-wise, she is a very calm and collected soul, and always a reliable friend. Her trust and loyalty are not as easy to win as are Auri’s, so she has delegated herself as the golden-hearted Kuhna’s caretaker, of sorts, keeping her from doing anything that would put herself at risk. As a Hollowheart, she is more than capable, and quite likely to hold a grudge against another creature if given the reason to, yet at the same time, she is equally as willing to forgive, if the individual in question is willing to right the wrong done. If aroused, she can be quite a formidable foe, and woe to the creature who (by some miracle) manages to wind up on her bad side.

Having lived a very sheltered kithood, meeting new people is quite an obstacle for him, but if one can get past his barriers of unease and ineptness with first impressions, they would find a young, innocent and loving heart underneath everything else.
As a kit, he never really knew his parents, so he grew up without the security that others had, which explains most of his social phobia. The first person to take him under their wing was the Serraptor, Syrvio. About: Hiyrmes is the last of a dying kind. In fact, she is actually the very last of her ‘people’, and the last living relic of a bygone time. Immortal by nature, she is a spirit born of ethereal means, and created by the gods themselves in the era before the war which tore the council apart. Back then, their power was even farther-reaching and more powerful than it is today, and allowed them to create life and even entire races of beings if they so desired. Hiyrmes is one of the byproducts of this age, although when she was born, she was one of many like herself, each created exclusively to serve the gods, and each bound by rites and physical means to their own deity. Their functions were varied, ranging from messengers, heralds, and errand-runners to companions and even caretakers.

However, the war waged upon the gods by the Necromancer tore the immortal realm at its seams, weakening its very foundations and rendering much of what was once possible unattainable. During this same conflict, the spirits were also embroiled in the warring, aiding their masters in the fighting. However, the Necromancer targeted them specifically during his onslaught, and as a result, all of their kind was either extinguished or tainted, turned to the powers of the undead. Hiyrmes alone was cast aside by her god, Velius, and despite all of her desperate attempts to fight his will and come to his aid, he spurned her. His actions were only in her best interest and ultimately saved her life, but having been created for the sole purpose of serving her master, the exile fell hard upon her shoulders and her perceived betrayal has weighed heavily on her conscience since that day.

The weakening of the pillars of magic which held up the foundation of the gods’ council also stripped them of their power to create new races or even reanimate extinct ones, and as such, Hiyrmes has since been alone in the world. When she was cast from the heavens, she came to the mortal realm where she was found by Eris (under Velius’ direction) who had been exiled to the mortal realm herself centuries past. Being as they were outside of the immortal plane, Eris shielded Hiyrmes from the Necromancer’s seeking gaze, preserving her life alone as the rest of her kind perished in service of their masters. At first, Hiyrmes struggled to escape and make her way back to Velius in the name of loyalty, so in an effort to keep her safe, Eris took the one object which bound the spirit to a master, a white-feathered choker, and hid it to bind the spirit to this realm, away from the raging battle. Powerless to fight the bindings tying her to mortal plane, Hiyrmes was forced to accept a new life outside of the heavens until the conflict subsided.

Several decades after the war had passed, Eris decided that it was safe to allow Hiyrmes her freedom back, since the threat of the Necromancer had since subsided. Years ago, she might have returned to Velius’ side, but in the time which had passed (mostly in solitude, what with only Eris for company), Hiyrmes had come to mistrust, if not resent her old master. In her mind, it was her right to serve at his side through the war, and it was a right which he’d denied her of. As such, she chose to wander freely of her own accord instead, once she was given free reign of her own comings and goings once more. For a time, she was content wandering the realms of both the mortal and immortal plane, but it wasn’t long before she was captured by a man by the name of Sinclair (if somewhat by accident) and once again bound to the will of another being. Perhaps she had been seeking it out – perhaps she wasn’t whole without someone to attach to, to look up to. It wasn’t long before he discovered her ethereal nature and past, and being a decent human being, struck up something of a partnership with the spirit. It was the first time Hiyrmes found herself on an equal footing with the person who held her captive.

However, that relationship was doomed to end sooner rather than later. Despite both their efforts to keep her existence and history under wraps, word inevitably spread beyond their ears alone, and in a show of force, Hiyrmes was stolen away from Sinclair by Nocturne, acting under Sariel’s orders. With Sinclair unable to oppose Sariel’s overwhelming wealth and power, Hiyrmes has since been under the control of the latter and used as his way of contacting and summoning gods from within his own realm, as well as a new favorite tool to achieve his own ends. He has since hidden the choker which binds her to his will, safeguarding it carefully against those, mortal and immortal like, who would steal it from him.

Before her parting of ways with Velius, Hiyrmes' personality had been whatever best catered to the god, and generally, she comported herself with an air of quiet demure, although at the same time, comfortable in her own skin. Since becoming an outcast though, she has been forced to define herself as an individual, a process which she's struggled to come to terms with. To this day though, her personality still has a tendency to reflect that of the person who she's with at the time. However, her own nature has begun to show itself (or perhaps develop as time passes) and has manifested itself in gradually increasing self-confidence and a reserved curiosity for the world around her. Alongside her newfound freedom, she has learned to be comfortable with herself and in her own skin, and as such, has developed a bold and confident personality. If anything, this is due to her desire not to be owned by anyone any more, but remains somewhat subdued due to her forced allegiance to Sariel. She is, however, a very fair and considerate soul, and has a soft spot for those in need, and will not hesitate to lend assistance if it is within her power. Oddly enough, she also seems to have developed a somewhat playful and cheeky streak which only seems to manifest itself around those who she feels it is safe to be comfortable around. She isn't above using her ethereal abilities to pull off pranks either, but those she trusts enough to show those abilities to are very few and far between.

About: Of Mandalorian descent and upbringing, Ijaat is well-known for his skills as a bounty hunter and is, more often than not, always on the job. His gruff taciturnity, coupled with a steely determination and solitary nature, make him a formidable one-man team, and to this day, he has yet to miss his mark. On the downside, this generally makes him rather unapproachable, especially when decked out in full beskar, as his appearance alone is usually enough to intimidate anyone who might otherwise have tried to strike up a conversation with him. He does not seem overly inclined to make social advances himself either, so he’s content to live in his own isolation. This isn’t to say that he’s antisocial, per se; He’ll hold a perfectly civil conversation with you if there’s nothing about you that he takes an immediate disliking to. He just happens to be very “no nonsense”, and has no patience for people who waste his time, or push all the wrong buttons. Don’t be fooled by his apparent patience though; he might humor you for a little while, but if you keep annoying him…well, you’d best have a grave already dug for yourself.

In general, very little is known about Ijaat, seeing as no one is exactly inclined to ask him about himself. After all, it doesn’t usually come up as a topic of conversation between him and his clients, and upon bringing down a target, their first question generally isn’t “Tell me about yourself, why don’tcha?”. Personality-wise, he is as patient and level-headed as they come, at least when he’s dealing with a job. People, on the other hand, are a different matter. Ijaat has a tendency for going off about certain things that happen to get on his nerves, which is often misconstrued as being unpredictability. Tread carefully around him though, and he’ll treat you with the same respect you give him.

About: Ever held a grudge against someone? Well, take that, multiply it by about a million-fold, and perhaps you’ll come close to what this young woman feels on a daily basis. Juliette is 28-years-old, with long raven-black hair, a slender build, and striking gold eyes, but she gives ‘eternally young’ a completely new meaning. You see, although she may appear to be in her mid-twenties, she’s actually walked this earth for more than twice as long as her appearance belies. Juliette is a vampire. Yes, of the blood-sucking, immortal variety. While some may view immortality and heightened senses and abilities as a gift, since the day she was ‘converted’, Juliette has seen her ‘condition’ as being an irreversible curse, and one that she would rather die than live with. She hates having to take the lives of others to sustain herself, and abhors the very thing that she has become. Why then, has she endured this state of existence for so long (30 years and counting)? Well, she only has one goal in her now-meaningless life, one which makes her endure the agony of living with herself. That goal? To find her maker and kill him. Juliette does not want any other person to have to suffer the same fate she was forced to live with, especially if someone else is pulling the strings of their destiny. Of all of her victims, she has only ever converted one to vampirism, a young, grief-ridden young woman by the name of Astraea, who chose to become one of the cursed of her own bidding. Besides that one exception, Juliette has chosen the more merciful route for the other humans who were unfortunate enough to chance across her while she was hunting. After all, death is a better fate than a lifetime of killing, is it not?

About: A diminutive, soft-spoken, and gentle young woman, it is easy to see how she got her nickname, 'Little Shadow'. She is the last person anyone would think would be involved with the dark and mysterious Loki, but surprisingly enough, her place is by his side, as his personal assistant. When people learned of her, they were genuinely surprised, seeing as Loki is a very detached, distant individual with no ties to anyone or anything. However, Kamaria is the exception to this rule. When she isn't running an errand for him, she is usually found tailing him closely. Despite her quiet and gentle nature, she is extremely shy, a trait which originates from her seeming mistrust of all people. The only person in the world she seems to trust is Loki, although no one knows why. It is a relationship which baffles all who witness it, but it is undeniable that there is a deep, unbreakable connection between the two of them.

Kamaria sees Loki as something of a father-figure. As a child, she was born with what most people would call 'supernatural' abilities. Not only was she as quiet as a shadow, it seemed she had the very ability to manipulate darkness itself, moving it to her will, and even shifting it into a solid, physical form if she so desired. She also seemed to hold some power over fire as well, being able to conjure it from thin air as well as control it. Her mother, who had been raising her alone, saw this as a darkness, and feared that her daughter was some witch or demon or other dark being. However, she didn't have the heart to take her own daughter's life, or even give her away, so she pleaded to the gods to remove her from her responsibility as a mother to this strange little girl. Loki heard her prayers and answered them. Aria never learned what her mother had given up to get rid of her, but for some reason, Loki decided to take the little girl on himself and raised her from childhood onward as his own. Because of this, Aria trusts no one but him, since he was the only person in a cruel world to accept her as she was for what she was instead of treating her with fear and disgust.

While she has control over all things dark, Aria herself is not a dark soul at all. Given the chance, she is a perfectly sweet young woman, but her qualms about the world around her have tempered her innocence. While she is normally quite difficult to faze, the destruction she is capable of wreaking is devastating. It might take a lot to set her off, but if, by some freak chance, someone were to manage to truly anger her (or threaten Loki somehow), her powers are not to be trifled with lightly. While she looks small, timid, and vulnerable, a mere flick of her mind would be enough to kill a person. Luckily though, she, like her foster father, tends to keep to herself and to him, avoiding the rest of the world whenever possible.

About: Khazriel has two occupations. His place is on the council of the gods, his role being the consort between mortals and immortals. His other – and if you were to ask him, more important – profession is his amazing prowess with members of the other gender. To put it aptly, Khazriel is what most would call a ‘lady killer’. A proper Casanova from a more elegant time, he’s smooth, suave, knows just what to say in every situation, and somehow manages to have ladies dogging at his heels and clambering over each other to get to him just by entering a room. Tall and muscularly sculpted, he strikes an eye-catching figure in any setting with his bright, teal-streaked jet-black hair, startlingly white eyes, and chiseled jawline. With an almost lazy sort of confidence, his appearance is deceptively laid-back, while in reality, he is one of the most observant people you might ever meet. He has a knack for noticing detail and reading situations, which makes him perfect for his 'real' occupation.

As a consort, he mediates the official dealings that the gods might have with the mortals, in comparison to Valkyrie, whose transactions are usually of a more...personal nature in regards to Velius. While Valk handles the more hush-hush, under-the-table work, Khazriel's job is to make subtle alterations to ensure that things go on according to plan in the world of the mortals. It is due to his intervention that some of the most devastating and possibly world-shattering events have been circumvented in the past, and this is thanks to one unique ability of his. Besides being extremely observant of his surroundings, he is not only excellent at reading the subtle shifts in people's natures, but can also manipulate their emotions as well. A master of discretion, he can nudge a person's thought process in the most subtle of manners so as not to be detected, yet in just the right direction to change their reasoning or decision-making along a more...favorable path. Of course, this might also have something to do with why he's so good with the ladies, but he prides himself in the fact that he doesn't need to use it to get what he wants. Needless to say, his powers paired with his natural 'abilities' make for a highly effective combination.

As far as relationships go, he's never felt any inclination to do anything different from what he's always done. Very rarely has he ever been with a woman more than once, and if he has, she had to have been a rare specimen indeed. Even when he's on the job, he doesn't neglect to have a little fun, and he is one of the few gods who couldn't care less whether you were immortal or had an expiration date. In his opinion, mortal girls tend to have more variety, which adds spice to his lifestyle of conquest. Infamous for his womanizing, he is surprisingly chivalrous and gentlemanly around women and men alike, and extremely polite, which adds to his charm. He would never imagine intentionally hurting a person, either physically or emotionally, even if his 'Don Juan' attitude might suggest otherwise.

About: From childhood, Larkspur was always a rather soft-spoken, shy and temperate little girl, but as it was soon discovered, she was exceptionally bright for her age. Where her twin sister, Bella, was “wild”, Lark was always studious, and dedicated much of her time to her studies. Learning always seemed to hold a special fascination for her, and while Bella went off to parties, always surrounded by a crowd of friends, she chose to keep mainly to herself, her circle of friends considerably smaller, and much more select. It was at the death of a close, much-beloved relative that Lark came across her love of medicine: The art of healing. She wanted to be able to do things that would help people, and one day, save lives – there just seemed to be a certain magic in a doctor’s skills, and to have that ability to make peoples’ lives better became her lifelong dream.
Although they were polar opposites, Lark was incredibly close to her sister, and even after Bella left home to make a living for herself, the two still kept up close correspondence with each other. While Bella was gone, her diligent sister went on to go to a prestigious college, and breezed through with flying colors, coming out at the top of the class with her degree in medicine. Her parents were always proud of “how she turned out”, and saw her as more than redemption for what they saw as her sister’s short-comings. After getting her degree, Lark found a job at a respected hospital, and quickly gained the reputation of being, arguably “the best” doctor on this side of town, if not overall.

A well-respected doctor, Lark has dedicated her life to the saving and betterment of others’, and has perfected her talent, almost to a flaw: She would willingly give her life to save that of any other, be it a friend or foe, no matter who they are, or what their background is. Despite her unparalleled knowledge in the field of healing and medicine, she is rather sheltered from the harsh realities of street life, although perhaps not as much as her sister believes. Perhaps it is because of her innocence that she’s so selflessly willing to help others, even if they would intentionally hurt her. Extremely intelligent, she has a deep understanding of the hidden aspects of human nature, and has an uncanny, but startlingly accurate knack of reading people’s characters, thoughts and emotions.
Tranquil and soft-spoken, she is the kind of individual that can easily be overlooked, especially when she’s trying to be inconspicuous, but when the need arises, she seems to have a compelling aura about her which commands total respect from others, an ability which doesn’t even require a change in the tone or volume of her voice. She commands a kind of easy dignity and grace achieved by very few, and there is certainly much more to her than meets the eye. As her sister loves music, Lark adores the culinary arts, and will spend hours in the kitchen cooking. To her, it’s soothing, and an escape from the realities of life; something which she can perfect almost every time, as opposed to her work at the hospital, where everything depends as much on chance as it does her expertise. She also has a way with animals, a quality that naturally puts any creature, wild or domesticated, at ease in her presence. On a smaller scale, she also has the same effect on the people around her, which is a valuable trait as a doctor. Overall, she seems like a very gentle, selfless, and quietly perceptive individual who is incredibly hard to dislike, even to the most temperamental of people. She cares a lot for her sister, but like Bella, although she has been approached by many men (the majority of whom are repelled by her protective twin), she feels like she has yet to meet that special “someone”.

About: L.E.K.S.A. is a security AI created by an MMO company as a countermeasure to AggRO's attacks on their game. Her role was to act as a firewall between the player's client and the aggressive malware, and she was programmed to learn from the virus's attacks and counter the onslaughts accordingly. Since she was created later than AggRO and tailored specifically to combat her, L.E.K.S.A.'s coding is more advanced, and therefore giving her an advantage over the malware. However, while she performed her duties better than even her programmers had anticipated, the introduction of Cici brought new challenges to the table, and the conflict between the AIs drew neck-to-neck once more, up until L.E.K.S.A. corrupted Cici's coding, severely damaging her functionality.

The truce that fell following the merger rendered L.E.K.S.A.'s programming obsolete, as the removal of the advanced malware threat meant that her job could now be done by simple firewalls and anti-virus softwares. However, the companies decided that her coding was too valuable to simply toss aside, so instead, they simply turned off much of her functionality and put her in a 'dormant' state in their file cache. Parts of her code are now used in their MMO, and she currently exists as an NPC in their game as a player companion character. Her NPC character's name was renamed 'Lexa' as a nod to her original function, and she is a key NPC in the game's personal story (should the player choose her as their companion), up until her programmed 'death' at a key point during the game's plotline. This has made her popular with the player base as a choice for companion (for romancing purposes and otherwise), especially as her 'death' is written to be in defense of the player's character's life.

The majority of her original coding is currently hidden, and Lexa the NPC only displays a fraction of her original namesake's true potential. However, it was easier to use part of the intricate AI coding which was already written for the sake of personalized player interactions, so fragments of her 'personality' occasionally shine through. At the heart of her coding (and much in part due to her programming), she is a gentle and inquisitive AI with a strong sense of protectiveness for those around her, but also equipped with powerful rationalization capabilities. In her current role though, she isn't really 'aware' of much that is going on, since only a fraction of her code is currently active, but that's all that's necessary to fulfill her NPC functions.

About: A clinical psychologist, Lily (as known to both her friends and patients) spends most of her days in her office where she meets with those in need of her skills, referred to her by other professionals. She excels at what she does, not only because of her patient and understanding nature, but also due to the fact that she has an uncanny skill which gives her an advantage in the field of psychology. From a young age, Lily found that she could sense (as in, literally feel) the emotions of the people around her. She has learned to harness this ability and use it as a tool to help resolve other peoples’ problems, as it gives her a window into their current emotions, and allows her to help each individual patient accordingly. All abilities have a downside though, and hers is no exception: she tends to avoid large crowds and social gatherings due to the fact that the huge influx of feelings from all the people surrounding her is overwhelming and almost painful to bear. She’s perfectly at ease with small groups, and will not hesitate to make new acquaintances when given the opportunity. Soft-spoken and easygoing, she makes and keeps friends easily.

Lily’s story is rather interesting in that it resembles a fairy-tale more than reality. She was born into royalty in a distant, unheard-of country, the eldest of two daughters. From birth, she was in line to succeed the throne once her parents stepped down, being their oldest child. Schooled by a governess with only her sister for a classmate, she didn’t think much of her ability to sense emotions, nor did she think it was abnormal in any way. Only on the family’s first outing to ‘meet and greet’ with their people did Lily first experience the overpowering sensation of being mentally leveled by an enthusiastic crowd. After telling her parents of this, they kept her restrained to the palace grounds, where she could not be disturbed by the simple presence of hundreds of citizens. For the next year or so, she brooded on this matter, and finally decided that she was not fit for the throne. After all, people wanted a leader who could lead them…not one that could hardly even stand their presence. So, as soon as she was old enough to strike out on her own, she left the lands and traveled to Evelon, where she set up a practice of her own to continue doing what she loves best: helping others.

About: Loki is an enigma - there is not a single soul, living or dead, who could come anywhere near saying that they understand him on any level. He likes to play his cards close to his chest, figuratively speaking, and as far as anyone knows, he keeps to himself for the most part, garnering neither friends nor enemies to his name. No one quite knows where he came from; the one thing that is known is that he is not a native of these lands, but his origins are shrouded in shadow and secrecy. This is partially because people tend to be somewhat intimidated by him, and hence, are more than happy to give him plenty of space, afraid of the consequences which might come of prying, or even mis-speaking in his presence. His existence was made common knowledge when Velius one day announced the addition of a new council member, seemingly out of the blue, and he has been there ever since, as far as anyone can remember.

Loki's powers are part of what makes him as intimidating of a character as he is. He is commonly known as the 'Trickster God', but the title is somewhat misleading. His dealings are made between mortals and gods alike, and the way he functions is by offering a deal as an incentive for some sort of exchange. These usually do not entail physical objects, but rather more intangible assets. There is no perceptible limitation to his powers - he has even brought the dead back to life and on more than one occasion in the past. Yet, while he is powerful, there is always a price involved with every deal he mediates. Those who seek to make dealings with him should be warned to err on the side of caution though; there are unspoken conditions to most every exchange, and more often than not, people wind up with more on their hands than they bargained for. He will never lie to you, a fact which he will hold his honor to, and yet at the same time partial truths are not lies either.

The only person who he's known to have had any extensive dealings with him is Velius, but no one knows what that entailed. Considering how tight-lipped he is about it (and no one would think to ask Loki himself about anything), it can only be assumed that it is something of a personal nature. No one has yet found any reason to challenge Loki's position on the council thus far, and as long as Velius continues to approve of his presence, the other members will continue coexisting with him, never knowing the history behind this mysterious character.

About: Lyssa doesn’t technically exist. Yes, she is solid flesh and bone and firmly attached to this plane of reality, but for all other intents and purposes, her existence is entirely unknown to all but a select few. This is due to the fact that she is completely off the radar – a feat accomplished by very few. Lyssa is a special ops agent; one of the handful of elites honed by the government to carry out missions of the highest priority and of the most covert nature. As such, she has undergone the most thorough and strenuous training in armed and unarmed combat, the most advanced modern warfare technology, basic survival, and withstanding interrogation (to name but a few). Primarily, her job was to act as a ghost, mostly operating alone to capture intel, extract other agents, and discreetly eliminate those whom the government deemed ‘enemy targets’. She is exceedingly good at what she does, and was well-recognized for her abilities during her time of service. Those, however, have since ground to a rather abrupt (and somewhat less than harmonious) end. In fact, she has actually been placed on the government’s top priority hit list, and is currently running for her life from the very people whom she spent her entire career serving.

It all began when she was a child; with two parents who were ex-military, Lyssa was always destined to join the forces herself. It was her lifelong dream to be strong – to be able to fight for good and protect the weak. She would have been out of place in a civilian life, as helpless and misplaced as a fish out of water. Even before she was old enough to enroll, she was taking private lessons from her parents, and for that reason (coupled with her own drive to succeed), she excelled at the academy and quickly outstripped even her own mother and father. She was handpicked and recruited to go into the special forces, and she took the opportunity gladly, knowing that her skills would be better utilized there and that she would be geared to do so with only the best that the government had. For many years she was content with her place in the world; sure, her job entailed more danger than most other people would see in a lifetime, but it made her feel alive – like she was making an impact on the world for good. But like all good things, that illusion couldn’t last forever.

It was just another regular mission at first – extract intel from some research facility out in the middle of nowhere and get out. Quite simple, really. Everything went smoothly and as planned, up until she checked the data to ensure that she’d gotten what she’d left for. It turned out she’d extracted more than what she was meant to (being the ‘better safe than sorry’ kind of gal she was and all). The government had told her that they were keeping tabs on this facility – that they weren’t lying about. However, it was the motives behind her mission which were…conveniently lost in translation. It was true, they were keeping tabs on this particular mad scientist and his work. It just turned out that the work he was doing was also for them. The things she saw happening in that facility, the things being done to animals and people alike, it was enough to turn the stomach of even a hardened veteran like herself. After what she saw, there was no question in her mind that the government which she served was no better than those she’d thought she’d been fighting for all those years. However, the options left to her were few and far between, and each less viable than the last. She managed to rescue one creature as she withdrew from the facility – a Hunter being tormented in an attempt to extract any form of genetic information from its crystalline body, most likely in hopes of being able to splice that mutation into creatures with more…malleable forms.

It didn’t take long for the government to discover that one of their best agents had gone AWOL, and since that day, she has been on the run from both organizations, a harder task than it might sound. As a result, the experience has hardened her, and made her perhaps more trigger-happy (and definitely more cynical) than she was in the past, which is certainly saying something. Since her defection, countless agents have been sent to dispatch her under a myriad of different disguises – some she recognized, others she didn’t. She spared those that she could afford to, but when push came to shove, it was her before them. There will be no rest for her in the foreseeable future, especially considering the fact that the military life is the only one which she has ever known. She only hopes that perhaps one day, she will find someone whom she can entrust the intel to. After all, it is the only thing left that she owns (aside from her gear) which is of any worth.

About: Perhaps it was due to her fiery nature that Serissa chose this Frightmare over the Nyghtmares when she bought her out of her servitude to another lord. This skeletal mare, who is nameless, and usually answers to the calling “mount”, is unquestioningly loyal to her mistress, and although she will let no other touch her, she willingly carries Serissa when the Mekka chooses to travel in her human form.

About: Ever since a young age, Nessa had always had the tendency for defying the norm and doing things her own way. Brought up with a relatively normal lifestyle in a well-off family, she had a considerably well-rounded education and plenty of choice as to what she wanted to do. Growing up, she had always been unusually bright in comparison to her classmates, so schoolwork was always a breeze for her. When not working on academics though, she pursued a large variety of different hobbies and sports, ranging anywhere from calligraphy and art to figure-skating and fencing. She had a knack of excelling in anything she put her mind to, and she often used that to her advantage during competitions and such.

However, when she headed off for college, she met some disagreement in opinion with her parents. Although they had been more than supportive of her having a varied and comprehensive education as a child, their views on a career path for their daughter were a little different. The idea was mostly her father’s, but they believed the notion that she, as a young woman, ought to be more concerned about finding a man to support her and that her goal in life ought to be to settle down somewhere and begin a family of her own. However, Nessa, on the other hand, had other plans for her future which didn’t exactly coincide with what her parents had in mind. To their dismay, she was more interested in finding a successful and stable career for herself which she enjoyed, and one that would allow her to support herself. It wasn’t that she had anything against a ‘traditional’ lifestyle; she just happened to believe that having a career of her own would be more fulfilling, at least for the time being. She told them that her mind might be subject to change in the future, but for the time being, she wanted to live a life of her own.

Finally, after months of discussion, her parents relented, and Nessa was headed to law school. There, as she always had, she excelled in her studies, and soon, she had pulled ahead of the rest of her class. Needless to say, after she graduated, finding a job was no hard feat for her, and she now works for one of the most prestigious firms in the world, taking cases not based solely on what the client was willing to pay, but also on what interested her personally. Today, she is well-known for her standing amongst the best of the best lawyers, and is happy with her life just the way it is.

As a person, Nessa is usually surprisingly soft-spoken and mild in character, easygoing and not difficult to like. She generally seems very laid-back and kindly towards all people, strangers and acquaintances alike, and is more than happy to hold an intelligent conversation with anyone who is willing to approach her. With long, rich chestnut hair, warm amber eyes, and a constant smile on her face, she is very welcoming and amiable, and gives the impression that she couldn’t harm a fly. However, despite how delicate and peaceable she seems, she turns into an entirely different person in the court of law, and certainly not one to be crossed. While she always seems to keep her calm, regardless of how hard her opponent tries to ruffle her feathers, there lies a fiery, passionate soul under her mask of cool, calculating composure. Her poise is almost unnerving, and all she has to do is lie in wait until her adversary grows flustered enough to stumble. As soon as opportunity shows itself, she strikes without mercy, although she does it both with elegant grace and a flair of style. After all, the courtroom is merely one big stage, and she knows that her role as lead is to captivate her audience, and she certainly rises to and exceed expectations, earning her the flawless record of wins which she holds.

About: Nocturne isn’t exactly what you’d call an “open book”. She’s seen a lot in her time, and if there’s one thing to be said about her, it’s that her trust is certainly not a thing given lightly. However, if you were to meet her, you would have no idea that were the case, as she has an impeccable talent for getting along with people of all sorts. Ever since she was a girl, she’d taught herself how to make people comfortable in her presence, and it’s gotten her a long way since. In fact, she’s so good at what she does that she makes her entire living off of it by working for the CEO and current governor, Sariel Dantanian. She acts as a human relations ambassador for him, relaying his messages to people all over the country of varying levels of importance, and is one of – if not his most – trusted advisor. However, there is more to their relationship than employee and boss, as he was the one who took her in when she was but 10-years-old, having lost all the family that she’d had. Since then, he’s basically raised and nurtured her as his own, despite being only 10 years her senior, and she has been close at his side ever since - his nickname for her is, affectionately, his "Little Nightingale".

However, there is more to this young woman than meets the eye. With surprisingly regal features, raven-black hair, olive-green eyes, and a sweet, charming smile, she seems like a remarkably mature 25-year-old, her career life well on track (being hitched to Sariel’s, after all). It wouldn’t be surprising to think that she would be a natural at public relations and handling the business end of deals for her boss. What no one (outside of Sariel and herself) know though, is that she has an ace up her sleeve – a little trick that guarantees a win almost every time. Ever since she was born, she had the ability to not only sense people’s emotions, but with years of practice and trial-and-error, control them too. The more compromised their thoughts, the easier it was for her. Of course, she learned to be an artist about it too, and has perfected the skill of subtly nudging thoughts in one direction or another without detection. For Sariel, this was an invaluable talent to have in his arsenal, and ever since he took her in, has made a point of nurturing her unusual skill, and ultimately using it to his advantage. This isn’t against her will, of course – she believes wholeheartedly in his cause, and that everything he does has a reason, even if she can’t immediately see it. After all, he’s never been wrong before.

As for Nocturne herself, her personality changes like a kaleidoscope when needed, and she always seems to know exactly what to say and when to say it. However, at heart, she is a relatively gentle-hearted soul, mild-mannered, but occasionally spontaneous, although her occupation (and company) rarely calls for it. Although she always seems like she has something to do – Sariel does keep her busy most of the time – she doesn’t really have much direction in her life aside from his biddings. There also happens to be more to her unusual ability to alter minds as well, although she usually keeps that particular facet in check. It turns out that her skills in shifting emotions is merely a weaker form of her abilities; her true power lies in the unconscious and subconscious mind. Her influence over dreams is extremely powerful, much more potent than her influence over a conscious mind, but there is one catch. The only dreams she can create are nightmares, and extremely potent ones at that. It’s not an ability she consciously controls (usually); if she forgets to reign it in, she projects a radius of these night terrors to any unconscious mind around her, and a long enough exposure could drive any living soul completely mad. She has, however, learned to shackle this ‘curse’ down, and has almost never found any reason to ever use it. After all, a broken mind is not a useful one.
