Acey nodded in agreement, not wanting to waste any more time then absolutely necessary. Evan surprisingly obliged quickly too, throwing only a quite curious look over his shoulder as he quietly rounded the corner into one of the rooms branching of.
The Mobster downstairs turned his head in confusion, trying to locate the source of the unmistakeable odor of smoke. Nervously, he spinned around, finally getting a glimpse of the smoke flowing downstairs. cautiously he moved closer, his weapon at the ready...
Acey very carefully pushed open a broken window frame and stuck his head into the cool night air. // no, nonono this won't do.// The Drop was too deep. Even for him, maybe if he could kind of roll off and loose some momentum. But defenetively not going to work for someone who was injured. Even if Turpin was only minorly injured as she said, it would be too risky. tilting his head in frustration, he saw what could be their salvation. The room next to him apparently had some sort of old, rusty fire ladder attached to it , or more likely some sort of construction/renovation work ladder, leading into an alleyway. what baffeled him more tho then this all too convenient situation was the fact that someone was currently trying to use it. //I dont believe it!! that little rat//.
Evan could not really believe his luck. not only did he find the safe, he also found the one room with a fire escape. The safe was a cheap, quite small thing, not much bigger then a suitcase. But quite heavy, as he found out. He was about to gather the other guys, when a ugly, but practical thought hit him. He could just leave. they would keep who ever it was occupied long enough for him to just disappear, with the money, and...well he would worry on how to crack that thing open later. He was not proud of the plan. not at all. actually, he was almost ashamed. but he was who he was, and right now, this seemed the safest way to success to him.
Acey snuck back into the hallway, his steps swift but silent. he would tget Turpin in a second, his mind was just set on stopping that guy from bailing on them. He caught Evan with one foot on the ladder, struggeling with the safe. "going somewhere?" he hissed lowly. Evan whirled around, almost falling out of the window "oh-oh its you ah I was just...I...uhm..." Acey slowly closed in on him "you where about to just leave us for dead? running of with the money? thats lower then i thought even you could go" Evan looked down, with Acey being almost in arms reach. mustering all his strength, he growled back "well, if its the money you want...catch."
and with that, he hauled the small safe towards the other man.
It was not like the safe flew far, or was thrown particularry heavily. it was just the utter surprise that caught Acey of guard. He tried to catch the heavy object to prevent it from hitting the ground, uderastimating its weight and momentum. The result was that he got hit square in the chest by it, stumbled backwards and lost his footing. Clutching the safe he fell square on his back with a pretty loud Thud that echoed through the small room. at least the safe did not crash into the ground. Acey however felt like he got hit by a train, having bumped his head too in the fall. He was not badly hurt, but for a few seconds, he just lay there and prayed that a) this whole thing was not as loud as he thought it was, and b) that Turpins distraction worked and bought them some time...at least, she knew in which room he was now.
Evan of course was already down in the alley and sprinting to what he hoped tp be safety...
(aaah...survival instincts XDD. hope that is okay with you :/and sorry for the wall of text. oh, BTW you can play the mobster too if you want to, it might move things a little faster too
