Re: .:Shrine Trait Application Revamp:. (2/15)

Millie, I do get your point. I get it very well, I just want you to know that. My post in the Shrine is for Damage Substitute and that's really the most useless Trait ever since ever using it is nothing but a big waste of a battle turn. I requested it solely for character reasons and, even more, for the RP that would come along with (trying) to gain it since it would have given me the chance to develop my character much further in interaction with a demigod. That this RP was taken from me is really, really, really upsetting me, believe me, given that it was 75% of my reason to apply in the first place. However, at this point, it was very obvious that it would never happen anyway, given how long I was waiting, so I do welcome the change.

About the fast release, I can only say what I talked about with Kodai. I was in the IRC for the first time in a long while yesterday and even before Kodai read my suggestion in the suggestion sction, she told me she had had an idea about the Shrine and how to revamp it. She told me about her idea and I asked her about specifics (like if we would be allowed to post in war areas and things) and suggested things like the theme lists and we talked for like...an hour about it. Then, given how long I had waited by now for my Trait, I carefully asked about if there was a date when the revamp would happen and she was like "If I can type fast enough, then tonight" and I was really floored, haha. And she then ran to talk to the other mods and I kind of went to bed soon after.

So yeah. Did I prefer the old system? For my character, yes, and I also have real problems to deal with the disappointment that the RPI had hoped for for two years will now never happen. But the change was needed. In the end, I prefer having a shot at the Trait at all instead of hoping for something great that will never happen.

Okay. First off, I'd like to apologize for people getting upset; I pushed this update as fast as I did because I know people have been waiting a long time for Traits and I wanted to get this done quickly in an effort to at least partially make up for that. I thought I had gotten all the important points approved by other mods, so I set up this post.

With that said, we (that is, Shrewd, Kyrit, and I) have sat down and spoken about things:
- People that are currently in an RP with a deity will have the choice of whether they want to continue that RP or switch over to the new system.
- People that have applied for, but are not in an RP with a deity will be asked to switch to the new system. However, they will be allowed to keep their old application post and can simply edit in a link to their completed Shrine RP when it's done.
- People will be free to do a Shrine RP with whomever they like -- the second (third/fourth/etc.) person may be applying for the same Shrine Trait, a different Shrine Trait, or no Shrine Traits at all.
- The level(s)/stats of the pet(s) in the RP only matter insofar as they must meet any requirements for the Trait(s) they're asking for -- that is to say, people may RP with another person whose pet(s) is/are vastly weaker/stronger than theirs, so long as any pets applying for Shrine Traits meet the requirements for those Traits.
- Pets must meet the level/stat requirements of the Trait(s) they are applying for before they begin their Shrine RP. (This is so that mods aren't left checking level-ups when it comes time for them to grant Traits.)

The only thing left to figure out now should be the 'general' themes for each deity and Trait. If you think I have missed a point of concern, please point that out.

(I'm here right now because I actually have other art stuff that I need to work on, if you're wondering about that.)

I have a question, Kodai (and I better ask here than in the IRC so that everyone can read it).

You said that, when others join the RPs, they may apply for different Shrine Traits. Are there any limits to that? I'm just wondering how this will work. We don't have the theme lists yet, but if one pet is requesting a Trait from Ithina and the other pet another Trait from Taxat, I kind of can't imagine that the themes will have much in common (though, as the list isn't out, I might be mistaken?).

It's about me wondering how close each pet would have to stick to its theme in this case. If the Ithina-pet has...I dunno, a theme about "Meditate about how this Trait would affect yourself" and the Taxat-pet has "Train for that Trait by surviving in a dark cave with monsters and try not to die", how would these two come together? Are such "double-applications" allowed to stray more from the themes for the sake of RPing than a self-RP with just one pet?

Also, do the RPs need to be completed? I'm kinda...super-sucky in estimating how many posts I need for a storyline to end. So what if I have the theme "survive one week in the desert" and I write my RP and reach the needed posts on day three in the desert. Can I stop then (or simply write "and nothing happened during the last four days") or would the demigods say "Yeeeah, so, you trained a lot but kind of failed the challenge since we only saw you in the desert struggling for three days"?

EDIT: Another question: How will it be determined if the Trait will be granted or not? It says "A deity will then reply to you, either granting or denying your request (depending on the quality of your RP)." But what does that mean? Is this only about not just writing "There was a forest. Bob walked into it. He wanted to train..." or will the RPs actually be read t determine if the character has really trained and developed enough to deserve the Trait (kind of like it was done so far when the demigods tested the pets)?

EDIT 2: Bumping this because crap, it's been MONTHS and there's STILL no way for us to get the Shrine Traits. Just wanting to note that the RP list is still not up. Maybe you mod guys just forgot to post it. I hope that's all there is to it. Morwena is sitting in the Shrine since over two years yet. Not cool, guys.
