Raloi was a traveling Paragon, once.  He had no real home to speak of, bouncing from place to place on the Barakkan continent.  He would constantly travel from the Sa'fir Coast to the Baian Swamp, making stops through Nu'san Temple and Tengel Rainforest.  He never expected that, one day, that would all change.

He was making his usual trip up to the Sa'fir coast, with plans to remain in Nu'san for a period of time.  However, since his previous voyage and the one he was embarking on, an aggressive clan of Battlehearts had taken up residence around the border between Baian and Tengel.  Not only did he pass through that territory unknowingly, he was attacked by the Battlehearts for trespassing through the territory.  Chunks of his left wing were broken off, and his body was covered in scars.

He walked as far as he could into Tengel, collapsing a few hundred feet away from the boundaries of the Dragon Root.  Aerarnis and Anadella were on patrol at the time, and they happened upon the injured male.  He was brought into the Dragon Root and nursed back to health, eventually returning to full health and even joining the sentinel division of the Dragon Root.  He and Aerarnis would later become mates.

Aerarnis can seem harsh, cold, and even callous at times.  In her initial position as the head sentinel, Aerarnis was in charge of patrolling the territory and protecting the Dragon Root from potential threats.  Her ties to the Dragon Root are fairly remote now; her Dragon Root ancestor's blood was diluted by several wild Paragon, to the point where simply remembering that ancestor's name was a feat in and of itself.

Aerarnis had been scavenging on the edge of the Dragon Root's territory when Katalmach found her.  She was frightened of him and turned to attack him, but when he asked her where she had come from, her response indicated to him that there was (although diluted) Dragon Root blood within her.  Her spunk and verve were what granted her the position of lead sentinel until Raloi proved to be her equal, and they were both named leaders of the sentinel division.

Carandor once had wings as magnificent as any other Paragon gifted with flight within the Root.  However, his wings were lost in a hunting incident when he ended up tangling with a few too many Carpetfangs.  He found his wings being ripped apart to the point where only the bones between the membranes remained.  He feels, still to this day, that he lost far more than his wings in that incident.

When he was taken into the Root, however, nobody cared that his wings were mere skeletons of what they used to be.  When Katalmach saw Carandor's skill in hunting, he was appointed the lead Ground Hunter, in charge of leading flightless or flight-challenged Paragon on hunts.

Airina might be a spirited soul by nature, enjoying to be airborne more often than not, but she is also incredibly shy.  Her two closest friends, Elladira and Ioraedra, are the only two that truly know her past her shy exterior at first.  Katalmach may not have gotten past her shy exterior in conversation, but when he saw her considerable hunting skill, downing an enemy of similar size to herself, he appointed her as the lead aerial hunter, to work in conjunction with Carandor.

The collaboration began as anyone would have expected: at first, they merely spoke from time to time, coordinating hunts and training their respective units of hunters.  Collaboration soon turned to the two talking with one another, then, they realized that there was more than just a friendly bond developing between the two.  Airina still occasionally retreats within herself, but she does it less around Carandor.

Adalden is another Dragon Root Paragon that can trace his lineage back--almost flawlessly--to the original Dragon Root members of long ago.  While the blood had since been diluted by wild Paragon, the line was never forgotten.  Adalden found a mate who was also of Dragon Root blood, and one day, they both felt the same undeniable pull--

--to return to Tengel.

They did not know why they were to return to Tengel, but the tug that they felt at their very cores was too much to ignore.  They ventured into the rainforest, where they found a few Paragon--Paragon that held the same ancient blood as theirs, though the Paragon their blood was from was, of course, different.

Yenaya can trace her lineage through several of the healers of the ancient Dragon Root.  Though the line was broken for a time, it was still there, and she discovered it when she found a mate shortly after leaving her birth home.  Her mate was also of Dragon Root blood, and for a while, they lived away from Tengel.

Then, one day, they felt as though they needed to return.

When they did return to Tengel, they discovered that a descendant from the leader of the Dragon Root had survived and was gathering the Dragon Root again.  Katalmach, as the leader called himself, recognized Yenaya as being descended from one of the healers of long ago and asked if she had any healing abilities, to which she said she had several such abilities.

Iosaer is not like most of the other Dragon Root Paragon that exist today.  No, he is actually older than all of them--old enough that he remembers exactly when the Dragon Root mysteriously disappeared.  He was but a hatchling at the time, but he could never forget how everything just… disappeared.

Needless to say, when Katalmach came back to Tengel and revealed that he had Dragon Root blood running through his veins--and not just any blood, but the blood of the old leader--Iosaer did not hesitate in stepping to the side, so to speak.  He knew that he had no claim on the leadership of the Dragon Root, and it wasn't the designation he would have had within the Dragon Root no matter what time it was in.  He had been reared, at the time, as a fighter, and Katalmach saw no reason to pull him away from that task.
