(Sorry for the dramatic title! I couldn't think of anything else. ;u;;; )
They'd been tracking this creature for awhile now, although neither of them could say what it was with absolute certainty. Whatever it was, it had left a large enough trail of destruction to be easily followed. They walked through the forest, the battered old range rover in which they often traveled had been consigned to a car park now some miles away. Ezra doubted if they'd get back to it tonight. It was more likely that they'd be camping again.
Prague yawned, stretching her arms upward as they walked beside Ezra. Their white hair was shaggy, and hung down their back in messy curls. There was something inhuman about them, perhaps in the shape of their face of limbs. They looked more like an impression of a human. Prague was short, but thin and spindly, their teeth looked sharp and their nose was slightly upturned.
And next to this dangerous-looking creature was Ezra. Short dark hair, well-dressed and blandly handsome. Where Prague was barefoot, he was wearing heavy boots. Where they had a tatty tartan cloak wrapped around them he wore a tailored black coat. "Tired?" Ezra asked, his accent mild and clipped.
Prague shrugged, odd-coloured eyes looking towards him. "Mostly bored," they whined. "I just want to get this over with. Maybe once this is over we can have some time off."
"Don't get too carried away. We don't know what we're dealing with, yet." Some time off would be nice, admittedly. They'd been working for far too long without a break. A few days somewhere quiet, a nice book and a quiet pub. Prague could go to one of their faerie court meet-ups (or whatever it was Prague did), and come back tipsy, giggly and covered in flowers.
Prague huffed, folding their arms. "Don't lie to me, Ezzie. You want a break too."
Ezra winced at the use of his least favourite nick-name, but said nothing in reply.
