Long story short, a plot of mine fell through a little while back, and I'm looking to revive it since I like the idea, so.
This boy is looking for a handler.
He currently has no name--- that's for his handler to decide--- but he's essentially a genetic experiment created with the intent to produce super-soldiers usable for war. He appears human, if a bit unkempt, but even in his human form, he possesses extraordinary senses, speed, strength and reaction time. He's also capable of entering into a semi-beast form where those abilities are enhanced even further, though at the cost of some degree of rational thought.
As a result of... questionable management, lack of funding, and other issues that plagued the project, the boy didn't grow up in a properly enriched environment. His manners are more or less like those of a half-feral animal, though this is merely a result of his upbringing; he has the same mental capabilities of a human, and would likely have grown up just like any other boy had he been given the environment for it.
That's part of why they're looking for a handler now: they need someone to spend time with him, socialize him, but most importantly someone for him to get attached to. What better leash than loyalty and love, after all? He was designed to form a strong attachment quickly, and to guard his handler with his life, which was why everyone involved in the project was forbidden to interact directly with him. Wouldn't want him getting too hung up on someone who wasn't right for the job, would we?
Now that the people who had commissioned the project have gone flat broke though, the scientists are looking for someone else to take up that leash. Highest bidder, and all that. They've got to eat too, you know.
Possible plot ideas:
This could play out with the boy getting put to his intended use, with a fellow soldier as his handler, especially as the War is still going on. It could be he's selected as a general soldier, or for special tasks (though probably not espionage, all things considered). His specific nature also makes him a good candidate for someone who needs a bodyguard.
Or, if your character is more mundane, they could simply find him somehow after he's run away from his keepers. It'll be a much less formal introduction, and depending on how long he's been out there, he could be more feral and wary of humans.
Or, y'know, it could be both. Someone involved in the war finds out about him, feels bad, and decides to personally break him out. Or what have you. It's pretty open-ended at this point aside from the specifics of his origin story, so I'm open to suggestions.
As a side note, I'm all for angst, but I'm really hoping for him and his handler to have a good relationship, at least eventually--- potentially lifemates (I'm a sap), but either way, not a situation where his trust and affection is abused for the long term. P:
Oh yeah, your pet doesn't necessarily have to be a Kuhna just because mine is. I don't really care about species for plots, but I do have some alternate forms in case breedability is a priority of yours.
