As always, Xayde's dreams were particularly normal. I couldn't really tell you how something manages to be more normal than normal, but it was. Despite being a dream, it lacked anything remotely dreamlike. The sky was blue, the grass was green, but no bluer or greener than one would expect of an average day. The street was not particularly busy, nor unusually empty, and all the people just seemed to be going about their usual business. Not overly excited or unnecessarily bored. Just...normal people doing normal things. In the middle of all this sat the dreamer himself. Xayde was sitting at the window of a plain, featureless café drinking plain black coffee that had been brought by a plain, featureless waitress. The coffee was neither hot nor cold and he sighed in contentment. All was well, all was nice.
Quite frankly, it was boring.

It was at that moment the girl appeared. His eyes drawn to the disturbance in his perfect dream, Xayde turned to look at her. She stood right in the middle of the street, sharp and vivid among the muted featureless scenery. Rae stared at him for a moment before waving at him with a bright smile.
