The Fe'gan Mountains are the highest, coldest mountains Lambastia has to offer, with the highest peak recorded at 8589 m (28,179 ft). Only the toughest creatures survive here, and the trek to get to the Basantha Shrine lays through these harsh conditions. (+3 Endurance)

Cass was pretty sure there were easier ways to piss her off. A cave system... seriously? If he had asked her to do this for no reason she'd probably kill him. Lucky for him, unlucky for her - he did have reason to explore the cave system, and so did she.

Her place was under the sky, where the stars could shine, not in some cave that could collapse at any moment. At least she was used to utter darkness, so other than the crushing weight of the world above her - she wouldn't be too put out.

"I guess I'll participate," she said, almost sounding enthused. Someone would map the caves out, and she would be forced to join. As much as she wasn’t looking forward to it, she didn’t want Hesperos to die. The Gods knew he would if someone didn’t go after him on his wild adventures.

The lady standing at the door with a sack over her shoulder definitely looked like the type to randomly decide to explore a cave. Her clothes consisted of fur covering all her important parts pinned down by leather straps. With sunbleached hair and darkly tanned skin, she was the very picture of a jungle woman.

Just as she moved to walk in, she glanced over and saw a strange looking girl looking curiously at one of the posters.
"Hey there," she called to the girl, "I'm heading in, you want to join me?" The girl looked startled for a moment, her expression of bewilderment lacking most of the lines in her face. After a second, she seemed to think and then nodded stiffly. With a grin, Selka marched right in and up to the desk, the girl close behind.

"Hey there, ducko. I'm heading in, and I'll be taking this kid with me," she said in a bold but friendly manner, leaning on the desk. The girl just stood there awkwardly.

You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting

Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar

This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth

Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound

She was there all alone today. Or rather, specifically she'd chosen to come here alone knowing that if she'd brought Estebanito he would have just complained about how they had gotten the map to the caves. This way she'd be able to get the map and just tell him that she'd found a treasure map. No pirate wanted to turn down the chance to follow a treasure map, right? Even if they probably weren't going to find actual treasure it would still be fun to her.

"Hey uh, I can't promise we'll be bringin you anything back, but can I get one of those maps?"

Victor was, perhaps, looking rather worse for wear upon his return to the saloon. Bits and pieces of rubble had stubbornly stuck to him, and there were a few rips visible in his jacket - damn stalagmites. The worst, though, was carrying a putrid piece of cloth back with him, as far away from his nose as he could possibly manage. How did the professor live surrounded by such noxious gases? Did he even realise the true extent of the stench he was letting off?

It mattered not. All he had to do was present the coat to him and get out of there, with a reward in tow if he was lucky.

"Hey, uh.. professor," He tried his best to look earnest and pleased to be back, but the smell was getting to him visibly. "I found your coat down there. Here.. please take it."

The professor is scribbling busily in his papers and tooting merrily along when a man walks through the door. The Skyllard greets him with a smile of recognition. "Ah, yes! One of my intrepid explorers! How goes the caving? You aren't by any chance here to turn in a completed map, are you?"

It is at that moment that his eyes alight upon the coat, and his eyes go wide. "My coat! So it was down there! Thank you ever so much for finding it." He wastes no time jumping off the desk to collect it, hugging it to him as if it were a long lost friend. "Oh, how I've missed it! We've been through a great many things together, you know. My graduation, the methane explosions in the chemistry labs, all those passionate nights of lovemaking with my colleagues... Ah what fond memories." Well, it does look a bit singed now that he mentions it... Wait, what?!

Before one can dwell on that for too long, he says, "Oh, of course, your reward! I hadn't forgotten, you know!" Tapping his head with a finger, he laughs to himself, before pulling a small pouch out of his... somewhere on his person. It's probably best not to think about that too much either. In fact, it's probably best not to dwell on anything concerning the professor for any longer than strictly necessary. "Here you are! A hefty reward for the return of my priceless, irreplaceable labcoat!"

It looks like an awfully small pouch. The slight clink as he hands it over sounds a lot like keystones, but judging by the size of it, there couldn't be more than a handful in there. He beams at the man nevertheless, until eventually he laughs again, a little sheepishly this time. "Well, maybe it isn't very much, but we've been going through budget cuts. I have mentioned that, yes? You know how it is. It's the thought that counts in situations like this, isn't it?"

Normally he would be nowhere near this place, since it tended to have people which was exactly what he was trying his best to avoid, but he needed to learn about this planet more if he was to ever hope of making a home out of it. Which is why Darth Spoob, er, Orion, was here trying to not look at the small strange feathered beast as if it were the most disgusting thing he had ever seen. While he wasn't exactly a social butterfly himself, he at least had the decency to excuse himself if he had flatulence. But maybe that wasn't a cultural norm here? Regardless the smell was awful and made him want to turn about right and walk away. Best to get this over with as quickly as possible.

"I'd like to sign up for this...caving. I'm with another person. Give me the datapa-er forms to fill out."

He kept forgetting how primitive this planet was. They had no ships, no landspeeders, just nothing. So while annoying it was the perfect place to hide out from the rest of the galaxy.

And then there was the woman he had run into before coming into this place. She felt...odd. Which was why he needed to keep on eye on her.

'Excuse me, mister - er, Professor King.' She regretted those words the moment they left her mouth.

After all - here she was, in a saloon. A saloon! The very word conjured up images of liquors so hard they could be lit on fire; of long nights at the poker table, the harsh laughter of outlaws mingling with fervent jazz, played by an ruggedly handsome virtuoso, his face wreathed in cigarette smoke, his eyes as bright and ecstatic as one seeing divinity in his music, his long fingers dancing over the piano keys; of sweet nothings whispered passionately into her ear by some cowboy with a past as dark as his hair, who would whisk her away and tenderly make her forget every heartbreak, every hurt feeling, every inane argument she had had with her boyfriend in the past week, everything.

And instead of indulging in any of that - here she was, trying to accept some godforsaken quest into some godforsaken cave system, advertised by someone she highly suspected was a fraudulent professor. As a student - or as she preferred to call herself, a research assistant - she was close with a number of real professors, and the only thing this self-proclaimed 'Professor King' had in common with them was his impressive ability to sequentially launch off into lengthy spiels about caves, or insurance, or whatever, without even pausing for breath.

Well, she didn't really want to breath around here, either. What was that smell?

When she had a chance to slip in a word edgewise, she continued in the voice she reserved for people she wanted nothing to do with, 'Yes, I'd love to sign up for the expedition! Please provide me a map, and I'll do my very best. For science, of course!'

They walked in like they owned the place. Wings unfurled, swords glinting at the their side, identical cocky grins stretched out across their face. Timaeus and Critias, unlikely names for a pair who acted as if they had never stopped to ponder any of their life decisions, much less the nature of the world and of society.

Despite everyone around (and presumably, in) the caves, the Saloon was disappointingly empty. Synchronized, they paused for a moment to take in the mess: stacks of papers strewn every which way, caving equipment shoved in various corners, and a disoriented Skyllard in the middle of it all, producing a most horrible stench.

Ty glanced at Crit. Crit glanced back at Ty. This was not what they had expected, at all. Crit shrugged.

Ty stepped up towards the Skyllard. "We're here for the...expedition." That last word carried more than a trace of disdain.

“Hello!” A young voice called out, rather loudly, upon entering the room. Said voice belonged to a Gyrraptor, presumably in their teens, but it was hard to tell with enthusiastic sorts such as this one. “We’re here to go spelunking!” She proclaimed next, a bright smile adoring her face that (admirably) remained largely untouched even once the smell hit.

Another Gyrraptor entered behind her companion. This one seemed older and significantly calmer about the idea of entering an unknown network of caves and tunnels that could lead to all kinds of treasures or disasters in equal measure. She glanced at the professor and then to her companion, noting the wavering smile and watering eyes before smoothly taking it from there.

“It’ll be no trouble.” She assured the babbling Skyllard, nodding along with his instructions and requests. Her hand came up to clasp the upper arm of her companion as she continued to nod along on their way out the door, a faint, strained smile causing her parting words to come out rather force, “Yes yes, we’ll be fine, thank you for the opportunity!”

It was only once they’d exited that the one who’d been first through the door seemed to recover from her experience for long enough to shout, “BYE!”

"Shouldn't we, uh, be fighting bad guys instead of doing...this?"

A group of canines walked up to the saloon. The one who spoke, a maned wolf with wings, gestured at the saloon's flier covered walls. The gaudy pieces of paper were advertising an expedition into a cave system in the Fe'gan Mountains, touting the experience as "exhilarating!" and "one of a kind!"

Another wolf, light brown and cream, lightly punched the winged wolf in the shoulder. "Come on, Ace!" she sighed. "You can't fight bad guys when there haven't even been any chances to fight them! We might as well do this while the team has some down time."

The third member of the group, a fox with fiery patterns on his pelt, raised an eyebrow at the young she-wolf. "You're the only one excited about this, Geysette," he said. "I don't see why we had to be dragged along..."

Geysette whirled around to face him. "Well, Flareo, it's dangerous to go into unexplored cave systems by yourself, you know! You should always go as a group! And besides..." Geysette frowned. "There's been reports of people going missing and getting attacked by wild creatures in these caves. If we're around...we could help people to safety before anything bad happens."

"If that's the case, then I agree we should be here," said the fourth canine, a wolf with lightly pulsing, green fur. "You never know who might need help. Though..."

A gust of wind blew across the plains, coming from the direction of the saloon. The four canines winced and covered their noses. "...I must admit, that smell makes me...worried about what lies ahead." the green wolf finished.

The first thing Noah noticed about the place was, of course, the smell. Once his hand was right and properly smacked over both his nose and mouth, he gave the place a look around, and secondly noticed the heaps upon heaps of papers littering the place. His eyes flicked to his mentor, brow creased with incredulity. "Are you... are you sure we're in the right place..?" he asked carefully, eager for the answer to be 'Oops it must not be,' and to turn around and leave.

But Hodjarl, the elderly robed man baside him, would have nothing of the sort, and treaded with upmost care around the papers. Feet tiptoeing only on corners and whatever spare space was left to be stepped upon. "Oh come come now, young Noah," croaked the alderly warlock, "There is no need to doubt a place simply from the first look. ... And smell." Looking over his shoulder to Noah, Hodjarl fluffled his moustached side to side, then returned to his precarious task of traversing the paper engulfed floor.

"Ah! Just the fellow I was hoping to see, I hope we are not too late for the adventures ahead!" he exclaimed upon being approached by the Skyllark-- the culprit of the smell, he and Noah were quick to realise. But the old man dismissed the stench with another twitch of his whiskers, and bent over his swirled cane to regard Phillip as he ever so enthusiastically ranted. With each statement, Hodjarl nodded his head, moustache and beard bouncing with more life than someone his age ought to have.

Meanwhile, Noah was flinching with every wet and torturous fart that escaped the creature's rear end.

Continuing to bob his head up and down, Hojdarl accepted the parchments offered, humming lightly. "Right, right. We'll gladly explore these caves for you, good fellow-- and we'll see about that lab coat of yours as well." He looked back to Noah, handing him some of the papers. "Shall we get started then, my boy?"

Today seemed like a perfect day to go out and do some exploring!

The woman didn't really seem like the "adventuring" type that one would likely expect when she walked right into the saloon with one of those fliers on hand. She looked like a softy, that had no business wandering around in dangerous remote areas. But she couldn't resist once she found out that these people were looking for adventurers, and just had to come pay them a visit!

If only she were prepared for the surprise that was to come upon walking into the room... It took a lot of effort for her to stay calm after the first whiff, and then she had been warned about the Skyllard's research.

Having to dance around the minefield of paperwork that was laying about was practically torture for her, as each second she spent making sure she avoided making the wrong step, was another second she was trapped in here. Hopefully she hadn't step on anything too important once she made it past all of that. "Hi. Um... I'd like to join the expedition!"

She had to keep telling herself to stay strong, as she endured the wait to get everything sorted out. Her eyes were definitely watering by that point.

(I'll be going solo!)

Oh Raven won't you sing me a happy song

You don't want me to stay alone
That's why you gotta sing your song
You keep tapping at my door
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore
But can I ask you something
A favor from you my friend
This song you keep singin'
Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore
