The two split up, looking around at the artifacts, careful not to touch any of them. Dax nearly came close once or twice as he tripped over something. After a bit, he called over, "I'm not seeing it here, Ix." Bellatrix frowned and looked over at the beast. It was still quietly watching them, its face betraying nothing. Surely it would not have led them here if the staff wasn't here. She looked over at Dax. "Why don't you use that spell you found? It's pretty much the only reason I brought you," she called. He pouted. "The only reason? That's hurtful." But complaints aside, he closed his eyes and started to mutter softly.
Almost in response, a dull green glow started to come from the base of the statue. Making their way over, the siblings spotted a small hole between the statue's feet, in which something glinted. With a smile, Bellatrix gestured to it. "You pull it out. Its safer for you," she said. Dax frowned. "Why do I feel like I'm just being used, here?" he asked as he reached for the hole. Slowly, he pulled out a wooden staff with gold capped ends and golden, glowing runes etched along the length of it.
Almost as soon as it was clear, they found themselves alone in the middle of the desert, the sun low on the horizon. "Well, then. Good job, Dax," Bellatrix said with a grin as her brother glanced around in confusion, the staff in hand. Clearly, she was used to this kind of thing.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.
But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting
Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar
This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth
Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound
