You lucky dog, you.

Apparently your buddies on this lovely rainy green-tinted afternoon decided to let the dares go full throttle, starting with little Gregory to ring Mrs. Heldry's doorbell and run away laughing like a convict, and ending with the grand daddy of them.

Visiting The Rickety House Of Ukraine.

This was, in fact, the most beautiful place you could visit on Hallo-ween (The house itself was enticingly scary.), but was the worst house real estate had ever seen year round, besides October, of course- set up like a haunted house, even to the point at which there was a very eerie flag handing from the window.
The plumbing was sometimes literally through the roof, the shingles lay in disrepair, and the only living souls seen to enter in and out of the building were three people: A maid, in outfit, often with a thick coat, a small white-furred girl in clothing and rung around the neck by a pink leash that was often accompanied by a third person, a young woman that could've looked like she had just stepped out of a sepian twenties photograph.
.x.
~

Shivering slightly, you stand in the so called 'Great Hall' of the place, which  in reality consisted of old peeling wine-coloured wallpaper with dusty photographs hanging on near rusted hooks. On the right part of the corridor, there was a fairly obvious set of stairs, sporting discoloured stains from lord knows what. The place, despite outward appearances, was relatively clean. Looking towards your left, in the corner of your eye, you spy a list printed on cream coloured parchment, torn with sheer age, and in a sage coloured ink, wrote in simple curved letters. You know, like the grennie-brownie colour? That one. Below it, on a small round side table, next to a vase with a single wilting lily-of-the-valley, a small notebook sat, all lonely-like. And acting true to the the complete ignorant buffoon you are, you ignored it and read the yellow curled list tacked up on the wall, along with a strangely vintage tinted photograph of a young woman. (The owner, perhaps?)

Inside the belly of the house;;; Drawing Room

Postby Banister » 09/09/2007 5:07 PM

As you turn around from the cryptic note on the side of the door, you suddenly notice a musical rumbling from the parlor. (or dining room, or living room, or drawing room, whatever you modern people call it.) Cautiously, you inch towards the cracked door.

Peeking in, you notice a young girl, thirteen or twelve at most, leaning over a table covered in of a multitude village of anthropomorphic goat people sketches. Her eyes were covered in thick pink and cotton candy blue lensed glasses, and appeared to have... a pink and white mongoose tail?!
You noted that she seemed to have light blue hair riddled with pink streaks, and white wolf ears with matching pink and candy blue ram horns poking from the back of her head and curving inwards towards her white furry cheeks. Even more to the sight, she had a Candy Fenling sitting on top of her head, and a Bleached Tali sitting calmly on the table, whispering in the girls ear. Adding to the surprise was the appearence of two lanky young men sulking in the corner, one with what looked to be electrical channels carved into his pale skin and a peaceful look upon his face, while the other, hair like strawberries and eyes like harvest moons, stared blankly at the wall. The two men conversed between each other, not noticing your almost intrusive presence in the room.
The petite woman thing looked up and whispered back excitedly to the fox-like creature, in some strange tongue. It almost looked like they were having a conversation, over the din of the booming sounds of Elvis Costello playing in the record player.

It all happened so quick.

All you did was put your hand on the lovely doorknob, and it just so happened to be covered in giant sticky globs of glue.
Boiling hot glue. Giant globs of sticky boiling hot glue. What're the chances?
You couldn't help it, but you let out a scream that sounded like a macho old lady had smacked your hand for 'helping' her pick up her purse. Your hand was throbbing red, and felt like it was being dipped like a candle in hot oil.

Suddenly, the girl's ears swiveled around (Is that even humanly possible?...) and twitched slightly. Unperturbed, she stood up from the dusty seat and pushed it back in, turning around and switching the record player to pause, while the Fenling resting on her multicoloured noggin acting disturbingly calm despite your girlish screaming. (Never mind the fact that the thing was sleeping like a log.)

The Tali just simply hopped off her place on the table and padded slowly along, looking completely emotionless, you seriously could've sworn that the Tali was a completely different Tali all her own.
They slowly all approached you, like some deranged furry adorable death squad on the loose.
You bit your tongue while you suppressed your shouts (Pretty durn hard thing to do, trust me.) waited for the shouts of anger and punishment to commence.

Inside the belly of the house;;; Inner Nirvana

Postby Banister » 09/09/2007 8:17 PM

They aren't there.

Who are you?
What are you?
What is your name?
Who are you?!
WHAT ARE YOU?!
STAY AWAY!

Your sight rose to a strange new world, a new being of consciousness. With your eyes wide shut, you stumbled to your feet, listening to the horrible screaming and shouting in your head. Your temples throbbed, and when you raised your hands to feel them...
...
You couldn't.
It was like that horrible realization of being hit by a car, or something worse. Kneeling, you tried to stroke the planks that served as a barrier to the cool earth, but you couldn't feel anything there either.
Only emptiness.
You tried to hug yourself, tried to breath, but you couldn't feel anything. You couldn't breath.
Collapsing to your knees, you held yourself as best you could and tried to stay sane. This isn't possible. Below yourself, you saw only darkness, that terrible twisting darkness that only the belly of a beast can show you.

.x.

It could have been five minutes or five hours, for all you know this place had no time, but you began to feel strangely cool and calm...

They all had a strange whitish glow, compelling and warm... The voices in your noggin began to fade into wary whispers...

Inside the belly of the house;;; Anywhere Is

Postby Banister » 09/11/2007 5:13 PM

Asleep or awake, you knew this was a dream. It had to be. Waking to the unfamiliar smells of sharp salt and stinging salt air, your shut eyes quite soon fluttered awake.

Where were you?...

Standing up, your legs imprinted and itchy from the tan grains, your eyes slowly adjusted to the sight.

It was a beach. A lovely beach...

A large ocean spread in curls in front of you, the greatly small waves breaking the disturbingly calm scene. Miles (Or what it seemed to be, at least.) of cool sand stretched in a slight arc, the mundane vision being broken by some orange and pink shells now and again. It could've passed for a completely normal beach, but there was a slight distraction from the clear blue salty brine and the sand- a small (Only going about 30 miles an hour, mind you.) bullet train running off in the distance, about a quarter of a mile out to sea.
But the strangest thing of all about his train was that it was filled with shadows.

Deciding you don't exactly want an answer to that question, you rip yourself away from the sight look and look upon the ocean. It was quite tranquil, only a few waves and slight windy curls broke the mundane pattern. Kicking off your shoes and placing them about five feet away from the tide, you walk calmly with your hands in their respective shorts pockets, and dip your feet into the water. And you kept moving forward, getting deeper each step, going closer and closer to the wet sands below, the blue hues of the water warm and caressing...
and you feel the handle of a staircase. It took you a few moments to figure out you were completely submerged, you felt so warm and dry. The only true indication was that your hair was flowing out behind you like a small stage curtain. In fact, it felt like all the weight was lifted off your chest. It could rise and fall, taking in deep gasps of some sort of strange underwater air at will, in this ocean.

Stepping down the stairs, the light began to fade from the ocean surface. It was now a darkish blue, and looking above you, the ripples glowed with lemon sunlight, a few Kalamari darting back and forth, their tails swishing madly, spirits of the ocean depths wavering...

Yet you descended.

"The wrecks dissolve above us; their dust drops down from afar --
Down to the dark, to the utter dark, where the blind white sea-snakes are.
There is no sound, no echo of sound, in the deserts of the deep,
Or the great grey level plains of ooze where the shell-burred cables creep.

Here in the womb of the world -- here on the tie-ribs of earth
Words, and the words of men, flicker and flutter and beat --
Warning, sorrow and gain, salutation and mirth --
For a Power troubles the Still that has neither voice nor feet.

They have wakened the timeless Things; they have killed their father Time;
Joining hands in the gloom, a league from the last of the sun.
Hush!  Men talk to-day o'er the waste of the ultimate slime,
And a new Word runs between:  whispering, "Let us be one!
"

Inside the belly of the house;;; Like Ice to The Brain

Postby Banister » 12/10/2007 10:56 PM

You kept on descending, hair flying arond you in the cool liquid in maniac directions. The staircase was brittle and fragile in and awkward, twisting, shifting like a deeply tinted prismatic coral maze. Some sections just crumbled beneath your fingertips, falling slowly through the un-air, and just flying in such a daze you pushed yourself into an in and out thought that this had to be a stupor, a mental hiccup,
some malfunction of the core,
a dream.
But that notion lied profusely and relentlessly pushed you onwards into the dank unknown. You could hear a distant train whistle, from above or below you did not know, and kept at it calmly. It seemed to ring in your ears, awakening some of the more... inane snippets of memory begin to babble like a sick brook.

It was flash of a whisper in your ear. "Don't be late" and again... "Sickness, blood, gore, love!" with a small, throated cry of "Don't be lazy, rush rush rush, Mejis for dinner, breakfast and brunch!" until soon a parade of voices whispering the sins and other crude and otherwise gruesome things chuckled in and out of your peripheral circle of hearing. Besides, you were already going mad, why not just have some fun for a while?

Suddenly, the whispers made sense.
You weren't in a dream any more, of water. You had just surfaced a thick layer of arctic ice.

Inside the belly of the house;;; A State of Grace

Postby Banister » 12/13/2007 5:00 PM

The creatures were multiple, almost hidden in the light gray skies with their pale coats. The sight itself was startling, like someone with a fairly large ego had just felt the desire to press the pause button and to play with the dolls. The matches, despite being a bird, let out a muffled song reminiscent of soft, twittering breathing. The staircase had gone from coral to a pure iceberg carving, solid but fairly slushish where you had just taken your pale hands off of the railing, only to freeze solid again. (Regenerating ice? Nawwww.)
It was only the bare hands of some foreign winter coming to stoke your eyes, dull your senses with a numb wind. You felt cold enough, you felt like you'd vomit or even fall ill. Finally taking a deep, chilly breath of cold air, you glanced towards the sky. It was only the afternoon, it seemed (Your wristwatch had stopped up in mindland.), yet the strange blue-grey dusky wool had been stretched over a long earth-shaped drum. The matches was making the only sound on the island of ice.

Quickly, the point of focus changes to a strange luminous charade in the sky. It swirled in many colours, some wisps going as far as to take the shape of large, misty animals...

It could have been an hour or a year, but the colours began to slowly fade.  from the great, widespread sky above us both, before us.

Inside the belly of the house;;; The Horrors Of War

Postby Banister » 12/24/2007 10:53 PM

A large decorated zeppelin flew swiftly into view of the great sky, metallic and yet so sleek it was overall. It had leather-like rims down the side, all painted a dark wine-like red, stitched apparent in some of the patches on the aeronautical skin. Unlike the true breed of flying machine, it had a strange clockwork tick from it's hull, like some strange clockwork turn-around that it's nonexistent mind had just made. A strange decision to make a turnabout into the deep, chilled ocean.
In the mast-head, an Imperialist flag flew proudly, waving like an innocent child in a midsummer night's breeze.

~*~

A signal, screaming in it's own right, entered the cockpit through the static of the message system.
Don't go into the ocean -static- it's all there... do you read us? Are you -static- -static-, WHO ARE YOU? STAY AWAY- -static- Second Fleet, Do you read me?
A television snow-piece laced voice came onto the handheld speaker, held gingerly by an male anthromorphical Imperial Albie, who was listening into the speaker intently. He whispered into it quietly, as to not distress his passengers.
Stay away- they're coming, -static- coming for us, don't give up -static- no... NO... stay away! -static-
The fellow pilot on his line gave one last final breath, heaving, sweat running in trickles down his white furred face weakly, a silent prayer as his last, and whispered into the receiver. A single tear ran haphazardly, making a slight static-laced breath into the other line. Boxes began to explode around the imperial ferrikoon's limp body, which was crunched into a diseased crouch under the control panel. Debris and screams could be heard from the rest of the cockpit, and the passenger hull echoed with a dull thud of a battering club, gunshots soon following after.
Don't. Let them board. -static- I lov-
And as quickly as the transmission to the other aeronautic beast began, a single pellet to his heart silenced it.

The pilot of the second fleet shook and cut the speakers, his body began to shake uncontrollably, a ghostly chill hazing his sight of the cockpit.
He looked over to his assistant, which was completely unaware of the short, fateful conversation through lines that had just taken place. The assistant, an imperial gyrraptor, kept his course.
The man, sullen-faced, whispered hoarsely to the gyrraptor, a weak smile across his face.
"'Bye."

Moments later, the zeppelin came crashing down into the icy waters, a foot shaking explosion sending slivers of ice into the air.

It is all you can do to remember who you are, what emotions you have, and what you tried to erase on this journey that is only part-way finished. You cried silently, mourning those losses that you never knew yourself- it was all in that one, one calm yet violent moment you realised that you had just begun personally knowing the horrors of sick-ended war.

"Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go;
How should you leave me, having loved me so?

Inside the belly of the house;;; A Spider's Last Moment

Postby Banister » 12/27/2007 9:53 PM

Sick, tired, ill from the chilled exhaustion, you sank to the ground, resisting the extremely strong urge to hit something with another very heavy object. You were cold, sounds were muffled like a superior fleece blanket had been sunken above everything, and you had begun to become numb.
You gripped at your elbows, wishing for a coat as your head began to feel slightly drunk with fervor, and looked up. As if wishing for a miracle, you slowly opened your eyes. Your mouth, already parched from the lack of even slightly warm water in this glacial illusion, started to form a small 'o' of surprise.
There was a door in one of the ice mounds.
Slowly, like in a lucid dreamer's state, you got up and walked over, the herd of chilled animals surrounding you suddenly still like ceramic statues. Your almost dank-blue hand curled around the ice-formed handle, a doorknocker not in sight. The gate itself was completely composed of snow, and looked flimsy and ill to the touch. But throughout your journey, not even partway through so far, you had learned to trust even the most strange of contraptions.
You pushed the gateway open, revealing a dimly lit room incased in a grass-licked terrain. Escaping inside it, you quickly pulled the doorway shut behind you, breathing and taking in the demented sight.
The ceiling of the room was a thin plated celestial spectacle, a single moon divided into the sun and surrounded by the heavenly bodies accossiated with them gave of a pulsating glow, mostly coming from the half designated as the evening.
There was a circular grove of olive trees ripe with the crop of strange fruits, fitting snugly around the circular shape of the room. But perhaps the strangest thing of all was the gaggle of cocoons hanging from the flimsy branches, some of them half as big as you were, some throbbing with the slowing heartbeat, some still and paper-thing, showing the bodies underneath the coverings, breathing but asleep in a strange state of dreaming. A spider, a horrendously gigantic beast, finished webbing up the last of the cocoons, on the far right side. You watched, eyes bright with austre wonder, as the arachnid crawled up the finial tree trunk, perched in the highest limbs of the olive tree, sat there and admired it's long-lived work, and died.

You walked across the room, and slowly opened a fairly normal looking gateway into the unknown.
