I was walking through the forest. It was only around 5:30 and the sun was just beginning to go down. It let off the colors of fall, red, orange, and yellow. The trees swayed in the wind as their shadows grew larger. The sky turned red and purple growing darker by the minute. Days seemed shorter now as we entered into winter. It was only Halloween night but it was still very chilly. The moon was rising and you could see its full moon glow for miles. Beautiful. That was the only way to describe the night. Life for me was normal. I was usually by myself and it wasn't that interesting. Still it was a life. "Wait for me!" a voice yelled as I snapped out of my daydream. Right, I had almost forgotten about my friend! We were going trick or treating (or at least he was!) and we saw many other creatures doing the same thing. Unlike us though, the rest were all young critters. Jake was a little kid at heart so I just sucked it up and walked with him while he got the candy.
Halloween is awesome! It’s my favorite holiday! With all the ghouls, goblins, and vampires, what’s not to love?! I’m fearless when it comes to the creepy and scary! I’ll take on any haunted house at any time! Nothing can scare me! OK, well maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but still I’m really tough! Candy! The other best thing about Halloween! Too bad Mitchell doesn’t know that if I have too much I go insanely hyper! Sucks to be him!
The longer we were out, the later it got. It was really dark out now but Jake was still running through the woods wildly looking for more houses. I think we might be getting lost because I haven’t seen a house for about 3 miles now! I was in no rush to get home but I knew sooner or later Jake would pass out from exhaustion. We traveled a bit longer till I stopped and said, “Jake stop. It’s too late at night and we’re lost. We have to figure out where we are.” By this point Jake had already slowed down to a lethargic walk. He agreed easily and we stood trying to hear the sound of water or the smell of where we came from. Nothing. I could smell nothing. Crack! I thought I heard a noise!
