A lone Paragon walked the misty space between trees. Garek enjoyed the forest. It was the only place he felt he really fit in. He wasn't one for talking really. He preferred thinking and art to conversation. His days were often spent travelling the lands and admiring the sights.

Staying still and listening to the sounds of the forest was enough to keep him entertained for hours on end. The wind was blowing rather harshly through the tall, leafy trees of the Whisper Forest. It was easy to tell where it got its name. The whistling wind in the branches almost sounded like people whispering. That was his favourite thing about the forest: you seldom meet wanderers in the seclusion of the fog.

Suddenly out of the corner of his eye, Garek spotted something moving. He didn't move a muscle, because he didn't want to scare whatever it was. Then again, finding a Paragon in the forest at all could be pretty frightening, so he decided to speak up. However socially uncomfortable he was, it would be easier than hiding.

H-Hello? Is somebody there?

((Human Form))

The girl had been wandering in the darkness for some time now and it was clear that she was totally and utterly lost. Yet she didn't seem to mind it much, as she continued to wander off in whatever direction she felt like. Around her she could hear the whispers of her people, which likely sounded like the wind in the trees to most creatures of this realm. This place was full of her kind; the whisper forest was one of the most popular places for them in this world. Some even wonder if their presence here is what gave this place its name. Or perhaps that was just arrogance talking.

Even the girl named Oblivion felt at home here, though she'd rather explore this new world than sit around in a place similar to the one she just came from. This world was completely different from her dark land, and the creatures here were just as strange. She herself took on one of their forms in the crossing, but it didn't feel quite like her own skin. Then she heard a rustling in the distance and moved towards it. Perhaps one of her kind had taken on a form like her? Or could there actually be one of the other creatures here? As she drew closer, a massive shape began to form in the mist, easily much larger than herself, a girl who physically appeared no older than 8. But it was not in Oblivion's nature to feel fear. When she began to approach the figure, it stopped and called out. The voice seemed kind of...nervous. Not that the girl was entirely sure that was the right word. Such emotions were strangers to her.

Stepping forward, she came out from the shadow of a tree and saw that the presence was a dragon sort of thing. They were called paragon here, she believed. Walking towards it, she looked up at it with an expressionless face, though any who were skilled in reading facial expression might notice the faint look of curiosity in her eyes.
"I am here," she replied, not understanding that such questions as "is somebody there?" is usually rhetoric.
You can pretend that when you hear my voice, darling, it's your choice not to fall in.

But it's all an act, 'cause I know exactly what you're wanting. You know it's what I'm wanting

Boy I know what you desire, oh, you're such a bad, bad liar

This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth

Singing like a Siren, love me while your wrists are bound

Peering out from the mist, Garek saw the figure of a small girl. It was strange for what seemed to be a young girl to be walking alone in such a place. He crawled out, crouching low, attempting to not be threatening. He as even as a Paragon was not all that scary, but you can never be sure with children.

Hello, he said. This time there was more confidence in his voice, not the trembling and nervousness that usually accompanied his speech. After getting a better look at the girl, he noticed that she had an air about her like someone much older. She didn't seem to show any sort of fear towards him, which he thought to be rather unusual. Although he wasn't very scary, people generally had a feeling of nervousness or anxiety when he was present. She wasn't appearing to show any sort of emotion really. She was different.

Garek sat on the ground, rather awkwardly, a few feet from the girl. He looked at her quizzically, and asked, Wh-what's your name? He had an awful tendency to stumble over his words, even when he wasn't nervous.

The girl inclined her head slightly in greeting when the paragon before her said hello. She noticed that his voice did not hold the tremor it did before. Curious, Oblivion's head tilted ever so slightly to the side. Was there something about her that made him less nervous? Perhaps her people were right, that her appearance was not very threatening at all. Although, she had no way of knowing if that was the case or not.

Oblivion watched the paragon lower himself to the ground, hearing some mild protest from some plants below him, though she knew he could not hear it like she could. Looking up at the paragon's face, she noticed that he seemed sort of...puzzled? Curious? Both, perhaps? These creatures, Oblivion thought, have such complex emotions. Some of her kind claimed that they too possess such emotions, they simply do not have any instinct to use them to such a degree on the homeworld. After some time here, she too might experience things as strongly as...well, as this paragon here would. For now it is all she can do to try and figure out the complexity of expressions. By the time she thought through all this, the paragon had asked her a question. Blinking, the girl wondered at the creature's stutter. Was it still a sign of nervousness or a speech impediment?
"I am...Oblivion. Are you in possession of a name?" she asked, trying to conform to what she heard was custom on this world.

Oblivion? That's an interesting name, he said, trying to be sociable. He wasn't usually one to carry a conversation, but he didn't want the child to think he was being rude to her. Thinking once again of the girl, he wondered, what is a young girl doing wandering around in the forest?
Oh... Yes, I do have a name. My name is Garek. By this point, he had realized that she wasn't an average human girl, but if she wasn't human, what was she? You can't simply ask someone what they are. That would be terribly rude. Garek decided a safer route, to ask and try to figure out what she was doing in the forest.
M-may I ask why you are out here all alone? It can be awfully dangerous for a girl such as yourself to be wandering so deep in the forest.

Oblivion blinked at the comment of her name. Interesting, huh? She had no idea if that was a good thing or bad thing, though in the end, she supposed it didn't really matter. She was called what she was called. And he apparently was called Garek. As per this world customs (as far as she could tell), she inclined her head in greeting after he spoke his name.

But then Garek asked her a strange question. Oblivion's brow furrowed slightly as she tilted her head in confusion.
"I do not understand. Why is it so strange for 'a girl such as myself' to be out here? If it is indeed strange, then why is a creature like you here?" she asked. Oblivion did not think this was a particularly dangerous place to be. If anyone was in danger here, it would be him rather than a being such as herself. She was stronger than her physical appearance, could he not sense it?

It was beginning to be quite obvious that Oblivion was different. ...Aren't you worried about being attacked? Or getting lost, or anything? Garek was puzzled. So many people feared these woods, and would be hesitant to enter even with a group. Yet this young girl was here, not even a shadow of fear or worry. Almost no emotion registered on her face.

Oh, me? I'm here because... Well, I'm not exactly... comfortable...around people. I prefer the solitude of the f-forest, to the bustling, crowded streets of the main cities. He was a bit flustered. He wasn't very capable of talking, much less about himself. It was evident that she could not sense his awkwardness. She seemed to be rather... abnormal, for a girl of her age.

((Do you mind if I join?))
What- ew is that a leaf? Suzy's face was mashed against a damp pile of leaves, which flaked off as she rose from her prostrate position. Rustling about in the mash of loam and decaying plant life that seemed to stick under every scale, she managed to get herself upright. Joints creaked and gave way to wobbles, and more than a few bugs skittered away from their exposed burrows built around the paragon. She shook her head, trying to dislodge what felt like a thick foam coating. Registering that her ears still worked, they promptly began ringing.  "Owww..." she moaned, and discovered her voice was a scratchy mess.

Coming to, she realized she had no idea where she was, when she had gotten there, or, or- what happened?! Taking inventory of her body, she found only the leavings of a particularly long camp night. Dirt crusted claws, a leaf adorned head crest; she scrabbled at the dead foliage clinging to her crest. Fumbling her way upright, she cocked her head at the sound of a voice. No, voices. Two? They couldn't be too far away.

She set off at a shambling pace, remembering how to navigate the forest floor with a couple stumbles. Perhaps the voices could tell her where she was.

((I'm fine with it :) ))

Oblivion's brow furrowed further at Garek's response, and confusion, though still faint, was now obvious in her expression.
"I do not believe I have any need to be 'worried', no harm could come to me in these woods," she responded. Well, she had learned something new of these creatures. Not all of them could sense her kind, nor their power. Otherwise, he would not be asking her such questions. Then, in response to her previous question, he began to speak and Oblivion frowned slightly. She did not understand why his speech was so...broken, but she did not want to try and sort out unimportant things right now. The words themselves, however, the girl tried to sort through. Apparently, this massive creature sought solitude, a concept Oblivion was entirely uncomfortable with. Not only that, but he came here seeking it, a place that was far from empty. Not that Oblivion really knew what a city was like on this world, though she made a mental note to check one out.

As the child sorted through her mind, she was momentarily distracted by the wind whispering through the trees, which had suddenly grown a little louder. Ignoring the noise, she returned to her attempt of understanding this Garek. She did not believe Garek would be able to understand their language, if he even recognized them as words and not wind. Perhaps, she realized, if he could not sense what she was, then he could not sense the others that were here. That, in effect, would make him feel alone even when he was not. The furrow in her brow faded as she connected the dots. Perhaps though, if Garek truly wanted to be alone, he should be made aware of her kind's presence.
"Actually th-" the child's reply fell short as she tilted her head to the side, as if listening to the wind. Something in those whispers drew her attention. They spoke of a stranger appearing in their midst. The presence was unfamiliar to them, unlike Oblivion who was one of their own or even Garek, who often walked their lands. Turning to the side, Oblivion looked in the direction the whispers came from. Another great form began to appear in the mist and Oblivion tilted her head slightly in curiosity. Would she find a new kind of creature, or would it be another Paragon like the one before her?

Her long neck snaking out of the undergrowth, Suzy blinked slanted eyes in the soft forest light. Having navigated through the trees on achy legs, she felt a bit more confident in her physical abilities. There! Just a couple dozen yards away, two figures stood conversing. Not wanting to surprise them and launch into a scuffle, Suzy strategically wacked the bushes around her with her tail as she meandered over. Knowing that some found her features alarming, she moved slowly and called out before she came too close, "Hello! I'm not a monster, promise I won't steal your girlscout cookies..."

Girlscout cookies? It had slipped out, she wasn't sure where that came from. She realized she didn't even have a sense of her own personality. Just some garbled dreams and the cotton headed slowness that came from a long, unexpected nap.
Refocusing on the people at hand, Suzy attempted a smile but thought better of showing off rows of prickly teeth. Instead it turned into a peculiar stretching at the corners of her maw, and she wuffled deeply through her snout. These two didn't smell scared or angry... Well, she dipped her head at the human girl and paragon, Mr. Tuxedo looks a bit off kilter. And the girl's a little weird. But then again, she was the one wandering through a strange forest with only a name- My name! ah ha, that's a positive. and plenty of beauty sleep.

((sorry to pop in and out but I'm going to pull Suzy out if nothing is happening? :C ))

Her query garnering no reply, Suzy stammered "Ah, um, okay- look sorry for interrupting, I guess I'll leave you guys too it?" She started backing away, shuffling awkwardly in the undergrowth. Ugh, what was she thinking? She had no idea where she was, what had happened, and now she was imposing herself on these innocent bystanders?  Really, she was lost. Maybe if she could find some mention of herself in city records... Hmm. That was a possibility.

Suzy ducked behind a tree, then two, finally putting a nice copse of saplings between herself and the others. If only she knew which way led out of the forest. Her brother had always said that if she was lost, she should either stay in one place if she was with someone, or head in one direction if alone. That way she could retrace her tracks. Her brother? Eyes brightening at the memory of family... her forehead creased as she tried to remember specifics. Nothing came, but she decided to follow the tenuous advice of a perhaps imaginary brother. After all, what else could she do?

The paragon continued to weave through the whispering leaves until she was just a hazy form. She'd stumbled into a hollow of some kind, and fog choked the plants and fostered a series of fat capped mushrooms. Picking her way south, Suzy mused on what she could have been up to that got her this far into a forest. Hiking? Or perhaps something less innocent? It was rather far to be hiking alone... Her thoughts meandered with her feet, musing on these things as a way to pass the time.
((bye! Sorry again.))
