Name: Versi—means something in Italian, but I forgot what. O_O;;
Personality: Generally, Versi is in control of her emotions—overly so. Appearing almost "robotic"to some people, Versi doesn't usually let her emotions overtake her, or guide her actions—she wasn't trained that way. Unknown, however, to Versi, there is a kind of computer "chip"that was implanted through a tetanus shot into her body. By now, it has been thought to have died, but it seems this isn't true—at least, not all the time. At random times, normally in the presence of a Kuhna, the spark of electricity still inside of it awakens. In these times, Versi cannot control her actions or her mind; all that she knows is that she must kill the nearest Kuhna to be rid of the bloodlust that possesses her. This has been generally put down to the fact that she never really untrained herself.
After these insane moments, which range from a minute to well over an hour, Versi's emotions finally show through—she becomes that frail, sweet, scared little girl that she always is inside, but is afraid to show. It's in these times that Versi becomes most vulnerable. Her little "weak"stages last for a maximum of five minutes—or at least, so far, that's as long as they've lasted. In these, Versi simply...collapses, and needs comfort. Normally, Angelo, her brother, is the only one that can comfort her back to sanity.
The worst of her bloodlusts is that Versi can remember what she does, and when she recalls it, her memory is twisted by the computer chip, to make her think she enjoys murdering Kuhnas. Sometimes driven mad with grief, the only emotion that Versi really shows is despair—she can become moody for days. Normally, though, she makes a dependable, if a bit lackluster, companion...although you would do well not to mention "Kuhna"near her.
History: Versi, as a pup, grew up alongside Angelo, as normal as a Seraph Sahound could get—gentle, loving, bubbly, and full of life—even though the twosome had no real home, roaming around on the streets. Versi loved the freedom, even though she sometimes went to sleep hungry, and the only warmth she could get was her body warmth, and that of Angelo. One day, while she was lingering over a gold fountain on which a Kuhna was poised, spewing water onto the dusty ground, Angelo went ahead to find some more food.
In those days, a group of people that wanted to bring an end to the Lucain and Kuhnas were active. They didn't like the fact that these pets seemed to be worth so much more than others, and wanted to rid Evelon of them. They achieved this by kidnapping pets and assigning them either to Lucain or Kuhnas. They would be trained to kill the species, and then set out to Evelon. One such person, a young woman, was lurking, watching Versi as the young Sahound played with the fountain.
At the opportune moment, Versi was seized from behind. Weak from malnutrition and too bewildered to fight, Versi had no chance. A bag was thrust over her head and her limbs bound, and then Versi was aware only of motion...nothing was stable in her world anymore, and worst of all, Angelo was gone. If he ever returned to the fountain in search of his missing sister, Versi never knew.
She was taken to the headquarters, and assigned to Kuhnas on the grounds that she was too small to be able to properly fight Lucain. And thus began her training. For the first few weeks, the same young woman that had kidnapped her visited the room in which Versi had been put, feeding her well—on both food and tidbits of information, that became invaluable in her training. Versi was told that Kuhnas were secretly plotting to overthrow the other pets, that Versi was now part of a secret group of members that were trying to counter the Kuhnas without using authority figures—since, Versi thought, Kuhnas had corrupted them—and Kuhnas had killed her family, it was because of Kuhnas that she had been thrust into a life of horror. She also was told that the young woman had saved her from a malicious Kuhna lurking nearby.
Too na?Øve to realize that it was a pack of lies, Versi ate it up. In time, on the proper diet, she grew strong‚Äîstrong enough to fight. She was trained to fight. All she ever knew escaped her mind‚Äînow she knew only one purpose‚Äîto fight and to kill Kuhnas. Soon Versi became elite at fighting and killing soundlessly‚Äîbut one thing was wrong. Versi was too soft-hearted to cruelly kill anybody, even a Kuhna, the enemy‚Äîsimply because she had been told by her brother, which she still clung to the memory of, that even the worst enemy had innocent people that were clumped with them‚Äîand even in the best-fought war, people who had nothing to do with warfare died.
So, the young woman that Versi never knew the name of, yet trusted beyond anybody save Angelo, took her to a lab. She was told that she was going to get a shot, to prevent any infection from getting to her. Instead, she was injected by a shot that sent a microscopic computer chip into her bloodstream, which wriggled into her brain and lodged there—the chip would make her yearn to kill a Kuhna anytime she saw one. And then Versi was turned back out to Evelon.
The only time she ever doubted the headquarters was when she bumped into Angelo again. Hadn't she been told, after all, that he had died? Dismissing it, Versi was happy to go and live with him in the place he'd found, and there she thrived. She wasn't sure what had happened to him, and didn't question it—she was too excited to be with him again. To her horror, Versi found she could no longer show her emotions as...earnestly...as before; the long hours of training had shrunk them and replaced them with physical strength, instead.
For a while, Versi was afraid to go outdoors. Being reunited with her brother had sparked a rebellion inside of her. She didn't want to fight and kill anymore; she just wanted a quiet life with Angelo. The first Kuhna she met when she went outside died at her paws. Mortified, terrified by her lack of control, unable to explain it, Versi fled towards the pen in which Angelo must be. Instead, blinded by tears, she ran into Kytari, an Autumn Kuhna.
To her surprise, she again went into the bloodlust, but Kytari managed to calm her down without getting hurt. The bloodlust that had possessed her in Kytari's presence lasted only a few minutes, and then Versi lost control of her emotions, which swelled out of her. She collapsed against Kytari, and cried. The emotion that had exploded from her was what ultimately destroyed the main function of the computer chip—but not entirely.
Still afraid of hurting Kytari, whom Versi felt she owed so much to, she began to avoid him. Angelo had encouraged her to meet with Kuhnas, hoping the continued contact would break Versi of her bloodlust. Versi rejected these ideas—unknowing that she had already broken out of the bloodlust—mostly. No longer would the sight of a Kuhna trigger it. The computer chip had only a spark of electricity left, and the spark activated at random.
But still, Versi cannot face up to Kytari...after all, how could she ever live up to the guilt of killing one of the only creatures she ever loved?
