Hearing Anthos' words, Navvi knew what was going to come. He bit his lip nervously, wondering how Sedimus would react. Even though he had just met the boy, he already cared about him, and didn't want him to have to hurt over Rufus' death.
As soon as Anthos said the words, Navvi studied Sedimus' face, looking to see his expression. He was surprised to see that the boy was smiling, and even more surprised at his words. He opened his mouth to ask who this god was, but then quickly changed his mind. This wasn't exactly the time to be asking questions. The boy had just arrived, for heaven's sake! He needed to get settled in, and get used to being around Navvi.
In a moment, though, Navvi realized that it wasn't going to take long for Sedimus to get used to him...not long at all.
Watching carefully as Anthos explained to the boy about Navvi, he was totally unprepared for the boy's reaction. He would have completely understood if the boy had been upset, either bursting into tears or going into a rage. Navvi wouldn't have blamed him; it had to be hard to meet your father for the first time, and then find out that he had a new mate that wasn't in any way related to you.
But Sedimus wasn't upset - far from it! He came over and hugged Navvi, and Navvi felt a burst of love that he could never have imagined. Closing his eyes and hugging the boy back, he said quietly, "I love you, Sedimus." He looked over the boy's shoulder and smiled at Anthos. It seemed as if everything was going to work out just fine.
