Thank you thank you for all the well wishes~ Surgery is in two days, and I'm here with an update:
they called today to confirm the surgery and the time!I was antsy and nervous all day waiting for them to call. xD; They finally called me at around 4:15 to confirm the surgery, and to give me the time:
10:45AM!Aaaaahah it's getting really real now guys.
For the curious: eye surgery varies depending on what you're getting fixed (myopia, cataracts, etc), but in my case, it's a very fast surgery that should take roughly 2 minutes per eye. Within 10-20 minutes, the surgery will be over.
Your eye has a layer called the
cornea: the surgeon numbs your eyes and keeps them open, and then he starts by creating a flap out of the cornea. He opens the flap to get inside the eye, and then with another laser, reshape the tissues in order to fix the vision problem. He then puts the flap back down, and the cornea will start healing on its own naturally, without stitches.
They do numb your eyes, so apparently all you might feel is a bit of pressure, and it smell a little burnt because of the laser.
For those curious to see it visually (diagram),
here you go. It even explains each phase.
Anyway, tomorrow I'm going for the eyedrops, and then Saturday will be the day. I will try to update as soon as possible, even if only to say 'went well' if I can't stand screens and lights. xD
